Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Koni was talking about why the anime didn't get a second season and asked if the sales were bad.
That isn't really a good metric though. For example, TPN's BD sales were bad and yet it got a second season right off the bat. MHA's BD sales have also been constantly bad.

Partially my bad. I had accidentally posted my reply asking about only BD sales, but then I also begna to wonder if the anime boosted the manga sales as well, so I edited that in. I also completely forgot that Xebec as a studio went under - that might have played a factor as well.

I think BD sales are a better metric for ecchi series in particular because one of the main reasons to buy them is to see all the ecchi uncensored, as with tankobon releases as compared to magazine versions of ecchi manga.

According to tieba, KnY 18 is already out of stock
Excited on how big the first week is on Oricon. Also, OPM is higher than MHA again... maybe they also underprinted? My guess though:

KNY - 600k-700k
MHA - 300k-320k

Ehh i wouldn't really compare Yuuna with these two series, like Koni said, BD sales are much more important for a ecchi anime than these two that have a whole more mainstream appeal and potential for merchandising and licenses

Fair argument.

from volume 6 to volume 18 Yuuna has a constant 250,000 first print. Only with the newest volume the printing drop to 100,000. So it's still chillin in the magazine, but can be replace/axed and should be wrapping up soon.

But the fact that Miura still chilling even though he foreshadows something from at the end of chapter 166 (187 now) and he hasn't advance the plot, I think he's still chilling.

Don't think it's underprinting, we'd probably heard of it if that were the case. Also, I think MHA might do just under 300k and KNY might go as high as 800k.

But yeah, for sure Jump is pretending that Yuuna doesn't exist xD lmaoo
Yeah...it's as if she's like a ghost or something....

Also, the lack of covers is something normal for ecchi mangas on Jump, To Love-ru had even less covers than Yuuna despite being way popular, you could argue that this is something quite normal for romcoms too, they didn't even bother to give a new cover for WNL season 2.
That's true. I did some cover digging for some ecchi/romcoms in Jump in terms of cover count. I went for I"s, Ichigo 100% and To Love Ru.

For the run of I"s, it got 9 covers. 5 of which were in the first year. Then there were 2 for the next year and the year after that. There were no covers for the last year.

Ichigo 100% had 6 covers. 2 for the first year. 1 for the next year, 2 for the year after that, and 1 for the final year.

To Love Ru was brutal though. It only had 2 covers for the entire run. The first chapter didn't even have it as the main focus of the cover! That's cruel.

Last time MHA had a 5-day first week was Vol. 18 and Vol. 19... Volume 18 did 298k and Volume 19 did 313k, so I'm thinking it should do within that range... KNY is harder to predict though, I went conservative but yeah, could go as high as 800k...

Does this mean it just sold 1M copies in... 8 days?
It probably hasn't completely ran out of stock, it's just out in a lot of stores.

Not necessarily, like Ryuusei said, we don't always have the full picture of every existing store in Japan. It probably will cross the 1m in 2 or 3 weeks.

How quick has Neverland been dropping, sales wise? I'm honestly curious. I don't hear much of the series nowadays compared to the beginning of the year. Now it's all Yaiba and Dr. Stone and Chainsawman. xD

Quality-wise, what I hear about MHA is a little more mixed compared to past years - some negative, mostly positive. It's still retaining a relatively large fanbase around the world, though. Personally, I still like the series quite a bit, even if I do have some concerns with it. Then again, I like Horikoshi and the oft-told journey he took to get here, so I'll read till the end for that, at the very least.
TPN went from comparable to MHA's peak in Volume 14 (June) to barely crossing 500K for 16 (October).

That's a 90K drop in the span of 4 months.

I wish we have a separate thread to discuss manga in this list.
Both Jump+ and WSJ (and also ribbon) are on top of the magazine list. Pretty good for Shueisha.

Only time people were happy with auxillary characters from derivative works showing up in the main story was the BLack Clover anime since they added such an interesting perspective and expanded the world view at a time where we had little to no knowledge of the outside world. HeroAca's is more blatantly you needed to read this to understand this significance which fell flat on most people who didn't read and are not reading. Its vastly clear that Tabata handled it better and raised the quality of the series.

No vanilla HeroAca reader has praised what the chapter did.

BLack Clover is outlasting many manga that is/was more popular than it and will for the future, so...I dont get your point. And on sales, its not about fastest/quickest selling, its about total at the end of the lifetime. Most everyone knows BLack Clover will have more sales than a significant percentage of JUMP series. Why do you think BLack Clover reaching peak sales of the upper 1% of series like Naruto is a widely held and supported view among sensible fans? People aren't just pulling these statements out of their [redacted].

Again you can say that to many shonens that existed and exist. You cant predict the future, your heavy dikriding is absurd with ur previous comments about BC. Bless bc keeps its highests
