Yeah, that interaction with those three had serious shades of Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro. Has me hyped to see more moments like that with our current trio.
100% agree on this. Just like eefrit said, the fight could still happen but at least sanji should be honest about it rather than making obvious lie. That scene made sanji as an unreliable crew who doesnt know well his captain.
WCI is just so bad, excluding luffy's fights
Nah he does. Though he had to deal with BM before they come to get them after beating Kaido. He reliable as ever and WCI was great arc with logic around.
Fights did happen, just not finished ones is all. It wasn't main focus overall.

How? Did it reaffirm his position within the crew??I hated majority of Sanji's narrative especially with Pudding.
WCI, I dont like for primarily how it made Sanji look...
Sanji backed down from Bege at Zou; didnt like the lack of bravado by Sanji. Did he not challenge Donflamingo in the previous arc...
Why did he think Germa66/BM would let him leave once he was in their grasp..dumbest thing ever to me.
Luffy vs Sanji..Sanji isn't helpless like Nami & Robin. He should be asking for help after nearly half the crew had some type of arc like this. Instead he waits till after he's broken down by Pudding being evil...It was all just annoying. Sanji fought his captain and really planned on leaving the crew...smfh that's dumb..
As for a fight and his cooking skills..This wasn't your casual rescue arc or all out Crew vs Crew arc..Sanji needed some fighting feats, seeing how he missed dressosa & hyped up Vergo during punk hazard. He only got clashes with Oven & Daifuku....& The while cake thing could have been much better. BM should have really wanted Sanji to join her cree because his chef skills were super stellat..instead she eats it and gets back to business...
Ppl say there are Sanji haters..not true there are ppl upset how Oda had handled Sanji..that's it.

Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, etc. disagree on you on that factors. It's not hated by many. Only few people, but overall everyone enjoy it. Everything make sense with characters, situations, themes, and so on. You have to check on those who fully dissect the arc to understand why others see it more in good light than bad light as it never was one.

Oda is still a good writer so ofcourse the arc will still be enjoyable
But its not as good as other arcs, especially wano
WCI is saved only by luffy fights. Its just sad to be honest. Sanji was humiliated in PH, so i expect him to get redeemed in WCI.
The irony is the other SHP crews get better hype than sanji (luffy is out of questions since he always outshines his crews)

He is and it been stated many see it as one of Top arcs for NW more than worse honestly.
Not really, that's your exaggerations and biased as usual just same with 'certain green-haired' getting humiliated in Wano and also talk of Mutiny which backfired on you for not trying to understand WCI was. That's more on you and Sanji has redeem himself and became one of the most hype next to Luffy who he be facing looking at Wano arc from how it looks.

We knew Sanji was talented. We DID NOT know Brook had the perfect counter to a Yonko's DF and was the first Strawhat to engage a Yonko... unafraid.
He is often shown overly scared, but when faced with Big Mom multiple times, he both hurt her homies and blitzed the fuck out of her when she was staring directly at him
Sanji was unfortunately not the MVP of his own arc.

Nah he was MVP. He save them overall in the end and learning more about him and his family to be use later in story is very important. Sanji is above Hinge and next to Luffy in MVP factor, but Brook comes under them.

by no means was Sanji MVP. It should've have been, but it wasnt. Brooks was amazing, he managed to steal poneglyph info, get Mama in her crazed state and make her vulnerable, even managed to see a Yonko's panties...
Sanji's feats dont do justice to number 3 of the crew.

Oda see it otherwise especially important cake was. It fits him being cook on how to stop BN than overpowering her. Might isn't purpose of how they got by and you need Smarts. Sanji did right way to stop her and save everyone including Brook. Not stating Brook isn't MVP, but isn't only one who did most work in the arc.
Not really. No one can stop BM. Only cake did. Luffy stop Katakuri and Jimbei did help buy time, but truly Oda put importance of cake to stop Big Mom or else she would kill crew there and then. Also fight feats with Oven and Daifuku helps too. They goes a lot more. Luffy is only above his efforts if to push who did most stopping top tiers.

He saved the crew but so did Jinbe and Luffy at seperate moments in Arc.
Luffy saved the crew AND took out Yonko Commanders
Brook challenged a Yonko and Got the Rio Poneglyph
Jinbe proved to be an excellent Helmsman and fought off Big Mom and basically spat in her face.
Sanji distracted Big Mom, saving the crew (but this isn't eye catching because multiple people saved the crew at different moments.)
Pedro sacrificed his life to save the crew.
Nami fought a Yonko commander and stole a Yonko's weapons
What's more eye catching? Sacrificing yourself to save your friends or baking a cake to save your friends? Both are much needed but one takes far more effort.
Even Pedro > Sanji.
And this isnt a sleight on Sanji. I feel like you see it like that. He had excellent character development, but outside of that wasnt MVP caliber person.

Let me put it this way, did Sanji exceed an expectation we have from him?
Pre WCI, we knew Sanji can bake that cake. If culinary skills were a measure of strength, he'd been pirate king by chapter 50. Hes clearly the best cook shown in the series so far so no ones debating that.
If i have to list down expectation to actuals, only Luffy and Brooks did exceedingly well.

Sanji also saved Luffy, Protect Reiju, block full BM Attack with Luffy, stomp away Oven, and save everyone from Daifuku from destroying the ship. He is MVP Status a lot more than others with only Luffy surpassing them. I put Brook 3rd MVP with follow up on 4th with Jimbei.
Pedro though can put him above all for his sacrifice though. Though thinking Sanji didn't have MVP moments is kinda wrong cause he did do a lot once Luffy and him made up.

In combat feats and purpose I would rate now Luffy, Sanji, and then Brook. Brook was beast, but he wasn't top tier when facing BM and Perospero if we looking at combats. He was useful on buying time and getting what needs to be retrieve though.
