Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

We should also take into account Kimetsu vol 18 is out of stock in most shops and is gonna get a reprint soon so...
It already did, it's been at the top of shoseki since the 20th. We'll see the effects next week but unless the quintuplets dropped hard (last volume with the same amount of days did 150k second week) it should do something like 170k-200k judging from shoseki.

Tabata's previous series Hungry Joker had all the same problems as early Black Clover so I don't understand the argument that Black Clover did something differently to catch readers attention.

Also, you can make a love letter to the manga you grew up on without lazy nostalgia wanking/lifting. Jujutsu Kaisen is every bit as generic as Black Clover, yet you can tell a lot more thought and passion went into the former.

Hungry Joker was just as safe and lazy though?
Black Clover did something different with the rival trope. And a bit more stuff but this will become a massive debate so I'll just stop......

Visually my favourite opening lmao

Are we getting the pro Hero arc this season?

It's hard to tell still, the ED has a couple almost-teasers of it but nothing explicit I think, and OPs and EDs typicially have little spoilers of the arcs they'll cover.

Also this ep covered 2 chapters, and that pacing would take us up to the end of the Festival (ending with the hero billboard reveal unless they did a filler ep). 2 chapters per ep is their usual pacing, they went faster for the Overhaul stuff but I remember it had a bunch of really short chapters so it probably is about the same in terms of pages.

That makes me curious, One Piece is quite clearly the slowest paced WSJ adaptation but which do people think is the fastest?

Jojo part 4 went especially fast, 4.5 chapters per ep roughly in total I think, but is there anything faster than that? How much did Houshin Engi/Soul Hunter adapt?

Houshin engi, I haven't watched the anime but but from what I have seen it got really fucking far in such a small amount in episodes.

Not really WSJ but I'd be surprised if there was a more rushed adaptation than TG:Re, especially the 2nd cour which I think was something like 110 chapters in 12 episodes.

No, recently they have settled on the three chapters per episode.

Also this ep covered 2 chapters,
I think they wanted to slow down in order to insert the part of Bakugo and Shoto dealing with children in one episode.

Black Clover did something different with the rival trope.
Really? I feel anything fresh seeming Black Clover did with the rival was just lifted from shonen sports rival tropes (like Haikyuu or Kuroko no Basuke).
Also, just because you don't have enough ammo to make an argument doesn't mean you can just shut down the discussion. As long as we aren't name calling, heated discussions are fine.

Lol! I post 1 or none per year even if i've been reading this thread for 2 years and i already made account a year ago.
This makes me like an underdog shonen protagonist where i need to put on test against the obstacle and defeat the elitist people in this thread.

Oh well I need to force myself to speak out in this thread even if i don't had anything to said so.

Maybe i could say like "This or that Chapter is amazing for this week" or whatever on my thoughts said just to be counted the post for this thread.
Try and have more confidence in your own opinions. If you've been reading the thread for 2 years you must have opinions on whether certain things will get cancelled, popular, what sort of things the magazine needs/doesn't need, etc.
Or if you think you need to learn more about the magazine or industry you can always ask.

The people affected by these new RIDICULOUSLY LIGHT THE POINT OF BASICALLY NOT EVEN EXISTING voting restrictions really don't seem to realize that it's really not hard to put your fingers to your keyboard and type.

We have 10 episodes left I believe for the season. The mini-arc including Aoyama plus the school festival is 21 chapters while the Pro-Hero is 10 chapters. 3 chapters per episode would be doable for it to end up to the Pro-Hero Arc but I don't know if it will feel rushed... Also, I remember during around this time Hori was doing shorter chapters and there are quite some battles during this arc if I recall, so it might be possible they can fit 4 chapters in some of these episodes... What worries me though is that either we'll have another long break since I do feel the anime is getting extremely close to catching up with the manga....

At this rate, vol 18 should reach 2 million in 3-4 weeks time. I really still think Shueisha will give vol 19 2 million first print...

Well it still got people attention cuz of the controversial thing about being "too generic" so it worked.

btw the author knows what his plans were so it didnt felt like it hit a wall like what usually happends with flop newbys. Solid & fast phasing with likeable characters, also yami helped saving the manga as him being an isekai ex-mainprotagonist. It took the shonen thropes, refined and made it his own.

Asta personality is pretty outstanding, like normally the rival is always #1 in popularity or is one-dimensional. Not for asta :hurr

Its genius

About jjk, not every writer has to be like that. every writer wants and has different ideas of their manga, it's normal.

If you really want to look at real plagiarism, look at all the isekai light novel that starts with: I'm reincarnated as a "X"

With how cutthroat WSJ is, can you guys blame Tabata for playing it extremely safe? He had already experienced cancellation before, and I'm sure that effected him.
He had no other choice, not only that but the timing was right when the symbol of the big 3 fell apart

The part on Aoyama lasts very little, it can very well be locked in an episode.

Tightening times can very well end the festival in 7 episodes.

Also I don't think there would be any problems with the manga, if the season ended in the middle of volume 21, there would still be 7 volumes to adapt.

I don't blame him. But going down that kind of path means your ceiling can only be so high before you eventually hit it.

That's only really true for MHA and quite frankly I'm not surprised, deku is pretty boring. The rival is usually not ahead of the MC in popularity polls, even naruto was ahead of sasuke in most polls.

Samurai 8's anime which will adapt 30ish chapters in 0 episodes

If they want to keep a season of MHA every year they either could be technical and say S4 counts for both 2019 and 2020 or adapt some of Vigilantes. Especially if its story is going to start being referenced in MHA.
