Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

The annoying part about Kimetsu's boost is losing information about what the top20 volumes would be like without it. (Imagine if there's a month with 19 Kimetsu volumes occupying the top19 spots). Also, not Jump, but Gotoubun still has a lot of backlog, considering the difference between volume 13 and series total. It's going to be hard for Magazine to replace it.

Yeah, I wish we could see JJK's and BC's volume sales.

I agree with you when you say the standards are changing and the drop in the sales is expected. But using this same comparison with SJ and other magazines, I think I can clarify my point: 10k is 6 days sure is enough to make a series have a long life in another magazines, but at what expense? I mean, about half of Shonen Sunday (for example) is fodder content which generates nearly no buzz. I just don't like the idea of SJ going that same way.
Hate to be "that guy", but Jump has always had fodder series which sold peanuts. Are we just forgetting, for example, how the same batch which debuted MHA also had flops like Mitsukubi Condor and Yokaemono in it? Are we forgetting that Chainsaw Man debuted next Ne0 and Higuma? No matter how you look at it, Jump has a habit of throwing a lot of duds at the wall in hope that maybe one sticks.

I don't think SJ will ever go on Sunday's route of keeping series for years just because its selling "anything", Sunday current state is something derivated from a lot of problems that Jump don't have, but with the times and the standard of the industry for new series lowering, at least the print version, is inevitable that SJ will follow too, Yozakura being the best first volume for a newbie in 2019 (Fujimoto can't be considered as newbie) on WSJ with 10k is already a sign of the times.

True, it's getting a bit annoying Yaiba having 18 volumes eating the top 20/30 every week,

Nakanko better give this chance to Zipman. Let the volume buyers decide if the series should be cancelled. Young boys are going to flock to the tanks.

1. I highly doubt that.

2. Why the hell are you so obsessed with young boys entertainment? Are you the new Sharkbait, and this is some elaborate performance?

Even if the pacing right now feels like it's going to get axed, it is way too early for Shueisha to stop this series. So yeah, we better wait for comic sales !
Everybody are 100% sure Zipman's gonna end, but just look at Yozakura results, anything is possible.

In the topic of Yozakura, despite some of its issues, I enjoy the series a lot.

I was one of the few people here that legitimate liked Demon Prince Poro. It was my favorite series from the legendary 6 series batch.
Was always rooting for Godaira to come back and find success.
I’m really happy that volume 1 is doing well apparently and the series is seemingly safe, FOR NOW.

I mean, despite being cancelled in 14 chapters, Poro did achieve 15K per Shoseki in sales. So I guess there really is some kind of audience for Gondaira's writing.

I personally like his artstyle a lot and ton of his series. As well as his character designs.

I don’t necessarily think his writing is the best. I’m just a fan of the overall aesthetic and feel of both series(not that I’m saying his writing is bad. I think it’s good enough for me to stay invested. Just saying it’s not exactly his best strength)

Zipman could hit well with the younger readers since most kids love power rangers and I assume Kamen rider is their power rangers as well as super Sentai, so zipman could be the unexpected big silent graphic.

So, regarding Yozakura's surprise popularity(?), Marcello over on twitter suggested to me the idea that it may very well be from younger readers in the same way Iruma was able to grow in Champion. Think that suggestion has merit?
