Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Zoro couldn't beat Daz without putting enough power that he could cut steel itself, though. Luffy isn't going to have that advantage without a sword that Zoro did. Daz probably can't turn his body parts into blades while being attacked, but if he does it before being attacked, then the advantage is his unless Luffy can move his hands into attacking the blunt side. Daz can also create blade circles or something like he did in that panel you provided.

When did BOn Clay fight Daz? After Alabasta?
You dont need a sword to damage steel. I already provided the panels as proof. Zoro was hurting Daz WITHOUT cutting him.

The difference is Zoro needed the lethality of his blade to end the fight, but Luffy could hurt Daz without issue because that's his fighting style, powerful blunt damage.

And Mr.1 already showed weariness of blunt damage from Mr. 2.... I have no idea where the idea that Mr.1 needs to be cut for him to be defeated.

He can be hurt if your strong enough. Luffy is.

Luffy would K.O Daz Bones...Simple.
His steel body wouldn't be durable enough for the level of damage Luffy could produce.

If you did need a sword to damage steel, then I wouldn't have mentioned Luffy could deal with it by punching the blunt side. From what I saw in your panels, the places where Zoro hurt Daz were where he didn't turn his skin to a blade.

Blunt damage is going to hurt Luffy if he sends his fists straight into the sharp edges. Weren't his fists bleeding from punching Crocodile's sables attack?

The main reason why I asked which Luffy we were talking about is because Luffy with CoA can deal with swords. Note how Luffy didn't extend his arms because he knew Mihawk would slice his forearms away? With CoA, he wouldn't have to worry about the blade piercing him. Remember how Nami hurt Luffy by stabbing him with a sewing needle? The problem isn't Daz can't be beaten without swords, it's that his body parts can be turned into blades that would require haki or blades to get past, whether knife, sword, or whatnot.

Your posts and arguments here have become very repetitive, numerous times I've advised to move on but it seems some of you won't respect anyone's opinions until you've bent it to match yours.

You've all made your points a long time ago and if you keep posting the same things again, I will unfortunately start kicking you out of these threads. You argue like children, turned discussion into a game of one-upmanship.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Daz can't be hurt, that's not my point at all. I'm saying the blades can hurt Luffy before he has a chance to deal damage to Daz and has to get around that.

Panels already provided. Headcanon to not accept it

What's hurt on Daz Bones? He's annoyed? That's being hurt? Headcanon.
Didn't Zoro himself said it was because of the density of Hatchan swords?

Don Krieg's armor is a gigantic piece of steel, very much like Mr. 1 body. You see the difference, and that it's not a plot-hole that Zoro couldn't damage Mr. 1 despite breaking Hatchan swords, right?

Besides an incompetent swordsman can break a sword quite often. Even Zoro himself was guilty pre-timeskip.
Nothing to do with density... Zoro said that in his hands the swords are worth it more.
Krieg's armor is big but thin, probably thinner than Arlong's saw.
Breaking steel and breaking a body(made of steel) are two different worlds. Mr1's body is probably 4th most durable body in the verse, of top of my head, maybe there are tougher.
Arlong vs Luffy
Zoro's zombie vs Sanji's zombie
Pedro vs Tamago
Luffy vs Cracker
None of these are proof for barehanded combatant having a fight to death with a swordsman. Sword just showed up on those fights once in a while.
Seriously, Luffy breaking the ground of Arabasta is quite impressive.
We don't see any of the Strawhats doing anything like that until after the timeskip.
I dont get how a continent of stone and sand will help you damage 1 meter of steel body...

God the Zoro fanboys are even more annoying than the Itachi fanboys in the past. I do not know, if M3J is the same person like several years ago, but there was one persistent fanatic Itachi guy in the Naruto topic also. Seems that Zoro is the new fanboy magnet.

However Luffy > Zoro, this is still a Shōnen...

Btt:

Do you think that we will have still a monster trio with Jinbei joining or will it be a monster quartet?

Currently Jinbei is the strongest after Luffy imo, his feats are impressive (Ace, saving Luffy, fighting Akainu and withstanding Big Mom). But I can see Zoro and Sanji stepping up. Zoro for sure imo. I am not sure about Sanji. He was not really impressive after the time skip. Before that he was one of my favourite characters and he was also a powerhouse. Hopefully he will surprise us again in this arc. I miss the old times. :(

I think it will be like this in the future:

Luffy = Roger
Rayleigh = Zoro
Gaban = Sanji
Oden = Jinbei (came also from another crew)

I think you are vastly underestimating the durability of One Piece characters

After time-skip, Luffy or Sanji could easily destroy a Pacifista, which is made of a material harder than steel. Yet there have been plenty of opponents who managed to withstand their blows, even without Haki.

This range from Ceasar Clown who is not even the type to fight hand-to-hand, to Doflamingo who refused to go down.

Think the monster trio is Jinbe, Zoro, Sani... in that order.

It most likely changes after the arc, but until then Jinbe is a solid #2

Luffy is just too fer ahead of them now and to structure it like other Yonko Crews makes sense.

I dont think I am. Pacifista is a machine, Oda bats no eye to wreck those left and right. Show me Oda wrecking actual character's bodies left and right?
Did you see what marine fodders did to the man himself, Whitebeard? Do you think they would have gutted him as easily if his body was made of same material as Mr1's?
Harming steel and harming a character made of steel is not the same thing. Zoro is best example who proved that.

Were these not high-ranked Marines?

Honestly I think every single one of these Marines could have defeated Daz Bones instantly

The characters get stronger every arc. By that point in the series, the Baroque Works agents, including Mr. 1, are no longer a threat.

Do you think WB would handle those things better if he had Mr1's fruit?

Ignoring that some of them are probably Haki users, on theory it should reduce the damage, the same way an armor like Don Krieg would provide extra protection.

But it wouldn't make much of a difference, I'm sure these Marines or Squard could easily pierce Mr. 1

The dude stood up right after, with minor damage after getting sliced by Mihawk... His body is not as weak as you may think. Kriegs armor was shattered in thousand pieces, why wasnt Wapol shattered in thousand pieces?

Those are VA...They would mop the floor with Mr.1.....

VA arent weak..but they arent Commander lv either. But some are around Law's lv...Luffy pre TS would either lose or have a high diff vs a VA.

Mihawk was not putting much strength behind these attacks, he even hit Luffy before, but didn't caused much damage

When Mihawk decided to cut Daz Bones, he did it

Unless you are saying Daz Bones could seriously block an attack from Mihawk, I don't see the point?

why wasnt Wapol shattered in thousand pieces?
Wapol body is not made of steel, but Wapolmetal.

The fact that Luffy could not shatter Wapol body like he did to Krieg, and that Franky used it on General Franky, means that Wapolmetal is more durable than steel

Also while it's not confirmed, it has been heavily implied that the Pacifista and Raid Suits may be made of Wapolmetal

What I am saying is this: Mihawk can cut through a continent of steel, he cannot cut in two Mr1.
Actual bodies are too tough, WB barely has a scratch from a cannon hitting his head...

I dont think it has anything to do with durability but with one being an object and other being a body.
Wapol was hurt from simple blows, from being thrown into walls while Mr1 says that blows do not affect him.
