Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Remember how someone posted the Top 10 of the “5 Manga That Defined Me” trend in Japan earlier? Here’s the Top 50.

Jump has been seriously influential, huh.
I'm so happy Sket Dance is in the top50. I wanted it higher, of course, but seeing that it's a beloved work in Japan is great.

So it looks like Dr. Stone is getting popular enough to get video game collaborations now.

I'm a regular player of Last Cloudia, so I'm pretty excited for this news.
Sp was it the talk show that brought about this sudden boost in popularity, or did the anime have a larger impact on this popularity surge? It's pretty cool to see it starting to really take off after so long

This was probably in the works before the talk show boost. Still, yeah, it's a good sign.

Wow, that's a large sample. Anyway it's interesting to see series that the west dislikes/criticizes such as FT/Reborn but they're adored by the Japanese fanbase.

Jump stronk. Hoshin Engi is still fondly remembered even after the catastrophic anime remake you love to see it. I’m surprised Yu-Gi-Oh, Nisekoi or To-Love Ru didn’t make it.

Also a little surprised 7 Deadly Sins didn’t make the top 50.

I find amazing that KnY is in top 15. Despite being relatively new and its anime aired a year ago. It really hit Japanese ppl very hard.

Here's the clear visual from the movie and in HQ

OP 96 marks the second lowest first week OP has ever read since Oricon started tracking manga sales, with the lowest being OP 95 with 883,228 copies in 2 days. It's also the volume with the lowest 3-day first week sales.
Where did you get that it's second lowest first week for OP since Oricon started tracking manga sales? I took a random look at the 2008 manga sales and volume 52 did lower than OP 96 in a longer time frame (6 days) in it's first week.

I'm very surprised at the place Reborn has gotten, and also thought DB would have been higher. Gash bell!! and Magi were good surprises but aside from that, Jump really dominates the stage

I really like the character design of LM1 Ufotable did. I wasn't so sure how the mouth from hand thing would look but thankfully they made it very creepy and weird. Zenitsu sleeping on the cover is a very nice touch

"Lowest 3-day first week sales" I was very specific.

Thank you everyone for the help, here its a more "complete" list of the Jump anime that has adapted its source material completely or in a mostly fully way.

Complete adaptations:
  • Mazinger Z
  • Ankoku Shinwa*
  • Saint Seiya
  • Dr. Slump
  • Captain Tsubasa
  • Fist of the North Star**
  • Baoh***
  • Dragon Ball
  • Jojo´s Bizarre Adventure Part 1-5
  • Yu Yu Hakusho****
  • Ninku
  • Yu Gi Oh
  • Level E
  • Naruto
  • Buso Renkin
  • Death Note
  • D. Gray-Man*****
  • Hatsukoi Limited******
  • Bakuman
  • Kuroko no Basuke
  • Saiki Kusuo no Psi san
  • Assassination Classroom
Confirmed to be completed:
  • One Piece
  • Bleach
  • Gintama
  • Shokugeki no Soma
Uncertain future:
  • Dragon Quest: Dai no Bouken
  • Muhyo to Roji
  • Haikyuu
  • World Trigger
  • My Hero Academia
  • Black Clover
  • The Promised Neverland
  • Kimetsu no Yaiba
  • Dr. Stone
* Ankoku Shinwa is a 7-chapter long series that got 2 OVAs of 50 minutes.
** FotNS adapted almost of the manga with some final chapters without being adapted.
*** Baoh was a 9-chapter long series adapted on an OVA of 45-50 minutes, in this case they cut some parts of the manga to be able to fully adapting it.
**** YYH adapted almost of the manga, it skipped some parts and change some things but it seems nothing too major.
***** DGM anime adapted the majority of the chapters published in WSJ although the series is still being published in SQ.Rise
****** Same case as FotNs, it adapted all of the series with the exception of the 2 final chapters.

I didnt include HxH because, although it ended the story of Gon and some could say the main story, the series is still barely running, and we would/should get more chapters, increasing the gap between the chapters adapted and the not being adapted.

WT could have the same situation as DGM, now that its in jump SQ, it need to adapt the chapters of when it was in WSJ or until the end of the Rank Wars. This type of situations are rare and I will say that are "fully adapted but not really", because the core story are still continuing but in another magazine.

I dunno if Reborn is that disliked in the West, tbh. I thought it was, but then again, I don’t hear much about it. The ending certainly did quite a number on its reputation, though.

I honestly thought Kimetsu would rank higher - like Top 10. Im also a little surprised but happy that HeroAca’s in the Top 20 despite the series beginning in 2014.

The Shangai Arc wasn't animated.

I should investigate about Jungle King Tar-chan. It had an anime but I don't know if the manga was fully adapted. I also have my doubts with Sakigake Otokojuku but in this case I think it hasn't been fully adapted.

The list from Jacc lacks Saint Seiya though. Original anime animated everything except the Hades Arc, then the 2000s OVAS (or was an anime series?) adapted fully the Hades Arc.

I wouldn't expect it to be in the Top 10 now as I feel that with these rankings nostalgia and long-term impact are more important factors - given that it's only been the past year where it blew up, I wouldn't be surprised if a newer series isn't part of what 'defines' a person as that is a rather big statement to make, and you can definitely see that with the Top 20 excluding MHA and KNY. With those two series being practically the defining 2 mainstream shonen of the past decade though, I could see them being higher if this poll was done a few years later as its impact settles into the history of anime/manga culture, if that makes any sense.

Tbf most of the criticisms I hear from Reborn is from it's ending and not the whole so idk.

Agreed. I thought I was the only one who thought Kimetsu would rank higher.

Bone Collection preview text:

"Unknown, [Illegible]!! The hands of fate begin to move!! The second of the three new series this spring!! Loved by yokai [part of this is super blurry] the mysterious battle story begins!! Cover and opening color pages with a total of 54 pages!!"

The big text on the right says "Become a new mainstay in Jump!!". It's a pun because 屋台骨 (mainstay, support, framework) has the kanji for bone in it

Damn, I read this as "Didn't Samurai 8 get a full anime adaptation" and I was like "oh you got jokes"
This corona man...
Samurai 8 should have gotten an anime adaptation and it would have blown up like kny but sadly, wsj hating kishimoto and his writing being too deep, philosophical and subservise for wsj childish audience, it got axed. Such injustice.
