Just hoping Time Paradox ends up being good (another plus if romance is involved).

By the title of the manga "Time Paradox ghost writer", it looks like it will involve time travel (which is a very complex subject). I don't know if there will be romance in the story.

Time Paradox preview image looks ok but two others new series, geez I know that not judge book by cover but preview image looks very bad (at least for me) visually they looks like next members of U19 club.

Time Paradox looks about the same as Bone Collection to me, they both have very indistinct MCs, it'd be hard to pick them out of a big list.

Very plain MCs don't seem to have much history of success in battle shounen unless there's a uniquely designed mentor right from the start (MHA, Reborn, Muhyo) or it's a harem where the girls are the important part (or sport I guess where the equipment is meant to draw your attention). Only proper hit I can immediately think of that is none of those is World Trigger, but even it put a cute little mascot on its first issue cover to give something unique people would notice.

That one Gintama gag is actually sort-of true, that you need a character you can recognise from their silhouette alone.

Forest King has something unique to draw your attention with the beetle horn and crown but, if the preview images are the same as the covers, I can't imagine people seeing Bone Collection or Time Paradox and thinking "that looks really interesting/those characters look cool, I need to check it out!".

@tirakai

Plain looking MCs can do fine if they have cool looking transformations. Look at Denji from CSM. When he's not transformed, he's pretty plain looking.

Chainsawman also had the chainsaw butt monster on the first issue front cover as it's unique design (plus the chainsaw itself is pretty eye-catching).

🔝 Honestly the reason I started read chainsaw man was because someone told me that is had a chainsaw dog and I was very interested in how that worked.

Also, Denji's original design (before any of the story happens) was pretty interesting and made for a good preview image:

Bone Collection's image is just as heavily built on the design of the heroine as the hero. Put together, the two do kinda strike an image, I think.

Time Paradox meanwhile we know literally nothing about, but it's definitely not a battle manga. The design there very much depends on the narrative.

Yup. Remember the Mashle/GotW situation? We hardly knew anything about the former and everyone was interested in the latter. And Undead overcame the initial (self-inflicted) skepticism.

Rooting for Hasegawa since it's his third chance to get a hit.

Samurai 8 should have gotten an anime adaptation and it would have blown up like kny but sadly, wsj hating kishimoto and his writing being too deep, philosophical and subservise for wsj childish audience, it got axed. Such injustice.
this reply makes me wish we have another reaction that's more expression than like or hug.

Kishimoto got similar treatment to Togashi. Why would Jump hate Kishi, but not Togashi? A lot of the audience, including myself, didn't like Samurai 8, that's all that happened.

Not specifically towards you, mostly a rant...

This reminds me of the "Bleach got shafted!" posts on several sites from a while back. Some people just won't like what you like. It's ok to show your frustration, but the whole "waaa shonenbabies" thing is ridiculous and extremely childish. Reads like an actual tantrum. There is no "injustice," people just didn't like it. I'm not really seeking philosophy in manga; I can appreciate it, but it won't make me magically enjoy it, and there is no valid reason as to why I or anyone else should.

That close call between the top 5 and the difference to the series after that lol. Last week was neck and neck.

Top three aren't a surprise, they're more completely expected if anything.

Congrats to World Trigger.

A lot of tied series this week, which is a lot surprising when you have so many different factors counting lol

Dr. Stone flopped hard this week, the manga was never so low and with so few votes, specially considering now with the extra points.

Very curious to see how Moriking will perform :3c

I think he was being ironic.
If this was reddit then he forgot to use "/s".

Yeah, he was.

The "S8 failed because Japan wanted dumb generic stuff" was a popular argument among the series defenders attempting to frame it as something unjust when it was, you know, a mediocre series which was rightly cancelled.

Not to mention Samurai 8 was pushed by WSJ harder than probably any other manga they've had for vol 1 & 2. Probably biggest push WSJ's ever done for a new manga, and it still failed.

Speaking of which, I wonder what series we could've had become long runners if they got as much pushing as Samurai 8 did. We do occasionally get series that were almost hits but got unlucky with timing and such. I bet there's a bunch that could've become at least mid-magazine hits if they'd had that much promotion.

Just look at Psyren, it actually did become a long runner and for sure could've lasted longer if it had gotten an anime before ch 100 like many series do now.
