Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Why are French covers always better than Viz's? What are they doing right? Hiring actually talented graphic designers and decision-makers who are passionate about the manga they are publishing? The difference is too stark.
I have to wonder if it's due to the influence from american comics, that's what Viz's logo designs remind me of.

In the US, the idea of a comic book is defined by Superhero comics, that's the image the mainstream audience thinks of first in regards to comics. While in France from what I gather, manga is the main type of comic everyone's influenced by (aside from Asterix and Obelix of course), so maybe that's why they're a lot better at staying accurate to the original logo?

The American company makes an American-style comic book logo (i.e. like a superhero comic), while the French company makes a French-style comic book logo (i.e. like translated manga).

Yeah that CSM logo is actually bad. It's not as bad as Act Age but they literally just had to follow what the French did. As someone else said, the text and its composition and placement in the cover greatly compliments the actual cover itself in the original. Something which this english version largely lacks.

Viz probably hires less experienced people to do these logos.

I don’t like the Chainsaw Man English logo and after seeing the French one, I like it even less. I feel like the English logo takes away from the essence of the series.

That's a huge "aside" xD

Seriously, Bande dessinée aka the Franco-Belgian comics are gigantic in their countries of origin, and their legendary series - e.g. Asterix & Obelix, Adventures of Tintin, Spirou & Fantasio, The Smurfs, Lucky Luke - have been cultural milestones for decades upon decades before manga ever came rolling around into their market.
Manga definitely is not the main type of comic everyone in France is influenced by. Not by a long, loooong stretch.

I completely agree on the CSM cover complaints since the logo wedges its why into the cover art which is the big sell. It’s like how VIZ screwed up the Bleach covers by superimposing some generic text over Kubo’s art.

Disagree on Demon Slayer tho cuz it doesn’t ruin the cover art, very minimal difference.

Its about the employee who got sick with covid 19.

Also it seems it was an employee from the editorial departmentn, in his 40s who got sick, he presented fever and they sent him to the hospital.

They have taken measures to protect the health of their workers since April 6th.

CSM's French version is better, but I think Viz's is alright.

Guys, I doubt anyone interested enough to buy the CSM volumes is going to suddenly refuse because of a logo design.
So you mean we should suck it up, lick Viz ass, shower them with praise and money for their horrible works?

No. Id argue that maybe the logo doesn’t fit Chainsaw Man at worst, but on its own it’s a solid logo design. At the very least it doesn’t look bad or ruin the cover
Boycotting the English release or calling it horrible is a huge overreaction

On it's own, I don't particularly mind the english logo. But after seeing how the french logo did it and maintained the original design as best as possible, the english logo looks much worse in comparison.

That for me was when they left my ghost waifu in the dust. Still bitter about that one

Anyways, is there anything regarding delays for the next Jojolion volume?
That's in July, so it probably won't really be affected

This....is concerning to know. Judging from what he's saying, it sounds like any two-cour anime currently running, including Jump anime, might not even be able to finish as scheduled, and will most likely be split. Or even pushed back to next year. Another takeaway might be that there will also be no new seasons/premieres in July.

Does this mean that Haikyuu 2nd cour will be delayed too?

It really depends on a lot of different factors, but considering that Haikyu!! Season 4 needed to be split cour in the first place (even before the pandemic), and the schedule is apparently pretty tight already, delays are very possible.

Kuboyama specified composition teams because most anime studios outsource composition. Should Haikyu's studio not have a team in that field, we might be seeing some trouble.
