Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

MHA's first print has never even reached 700k, its peak is 660k, and it doesn't deserve a 1m first print considering the series still hasnt even sold 600k a month on Oricon, also its incredibly rare for series nowadays to get first prints of 1 million copies, HQ never even got one despite being a million seller on Oricon, and Kingdom still hasnt gotten one iicrc. ONE PIECE, KnY, and HxH are the only 3 series with 1m first prints in the manga industry atm
I'm pretty sure it reached 750k sales at some point in the last 2-3 years. If anyone's got the charts, go ahead.

But I don't understand this urgent need to belittle My Hero at all costs, mah ....

Ok, so onto another question: Should Jump make a big, Strong World-push for MHA in the next two or three years? If they do, could they pull it off and finally reach that 1M seller status?

I don't see why they should do it ....

I'd say it isn't needed. MHA is already a consolidated pillar.

Nakano should be clever and start promoting Jujutsu Kaisen once for all. Is surprising how little pushing it has had despite selling well.

Not really disputing that. But Nakano has not made it a secret he wants another 1M seller in the current lineup. KnY is such an unprecedented anomaly in Jump's long history of producing manga, plus it's not really "sustainable". So he definitely wants another 1M seller in the magazine, that much is clear. MHA is a good bet as any.

What more could they do lol? It's already gotten 4 seasons plus a 5th one confirmed, along with 2 movies and multiple Spinoffs and LNs, Jump doesn't need to worry about making MHA a 1m seller since its already passed its peak, if any of the newbies can get a decent sized fanbase those are the series they need to promote/PUSH in the next few years considering they're potentially losing 3 pillars this year

I think they should push it more since some of their bigger names (KNY, TPN and HQ) are all supposed to end soon, but not necessarily to make it bigger, but to make it more stable. They should also push stuff like CSM, JJK, AA and Stone, which are series that have growth potential.

The funny thing is how MHA is the biggest Shonen Jump title in USA
Wouldn't that go to DBS? The Broly movie also did better than the MHA movie in the US too, no?

Million sellers aren't easy to come by in this day and age, even with alot of promoting/PUSH there's no guarantee that itll happen. Keep in mind Jump has had alot of hits this past decade but only 3 series we're able to sell 1m copies in a year, (KnY, AssClass, HQ)

You can also argue that MHA is technically a 1m seller considering most of its volumes have already crossed 1m, same thing applies to The Promised Neverland, it may take a few years to have volumes sell over 1 million copies but they still sold 1 million nonetheless,

Don’t think it’s necessary. MHA is already a stable franchise in Jump and has hit its ceiling in sales. Nothing wrong about where it is now, but Nak should start promoting future pillars like JJK and Chainsaw since those have potential to become 1 million sellers or even 800k.

So this issue will be the last ranking of KnY, right? Since next issue will have a cp so it will remain unranked.

See here, that's the funny thing about the whole series' sales. That's why I said MHA is kind of an odd duck in this regard.

Yeah, I think this is pretty much what I was really trying to say. It could definitely use one LAST push to see where its ceiling really is.

You don't think it already hit it's "real" ceiling?

OP was already as stable a franchise as it gets pre-Strong World like MHA is doing now, only difference is it already was a million seller then. And for some reason, Jump really pushed hard on that campaign. My question is, what was the aim for pushing that movie so hard then, really? Were they aiming for the massive boost in manga sales or were they doing it solely for the movie?

If OP could get that treatment while it was still running well and stable as it is, then why the hell couldn't MHA do the same at some point in the future?
