I can see itachi being in top three. He could do no wrong in the fans eyes back in the day. I never cared for him for someone reason, his character was kind of boring. Good character, written better than most but again..boring in persona. I actually prefer his brother because of his flaws, and wasn't a perfect genius.
Despite this, I still put him on my list because his character is written better than most in Naruto. I don't choose characters based on favoritism or interest only.

naruto was actually the first manga I started reading consistently(not anime). I have so many fond memories of it, even though the story didn't progress in the direction I thought it would but still..bitter sweet memories.

Shino may have had more content overall in fillers than in actual canon.
