There is a sort of comedic greatness to the Tsukyomi, Amatarasu, and Susanoo combo though.

Because Tsukyomi was sold as like the ultimate genjutsu right. Then Amatarasu was sold as this great ninjutsu. Then he got to the final one was like the ultimate taijuts... FUCK IT, I'm giving him a megazord!

What I admit is that he shouldn't have done any of it. Tsukyomi was plenty. That was a good ability as long as it came at a cost. Everything after that was a screw up, IMO.

Tsukuyomi was an ability the elite would have an easy enough time to deal with. To instill despair, the impact from the Susano'o was sort of needed. Both Itachi and Madara used it in similar ways.
Amaterasu, Izanami and Izanagi were more or less plot devices to once again emphasize how great Uchiha Itachi was. Not much else. The concepts were cool, just not very relevant. Though, I'll take those over most other plot devices in the manga, anyways.

The reason I disagree with that is this... Uchiha's still had normal abilities. All the normal jutsu that everybody else could use they could use too. The sharingan was something they had in addition to everything else. They should have built up the actual jutsu side more and left the bullshit powerup side alone.

If you need a character to shoot spirit fire out of their eyeballs and create a gundam forcefield around themselves you've got a power balance problem or a writing problem. Kishi had both with the sharingan.

Well, they didn't have superb chakra reserves and the doujutsu drained their chakra further. Skilled taijutsu masters would naturally be able to best them as it is.
I agree with the ninjutsu being underutilized for the most part.

The power balance was just about the Uchiha and the Senju. The Uchiha were given these tools to match the insane life force the Senju had. Basically, the Senju were broken, so the Uchiha had to be, as well.
Whether this dichotomy was a good thing or not is another issue to debate on, I guess.

The Senju are another problem entirely. And they are a problem but not as big a problem. Although with the order of events it was the Uchiha Kishi broke first and the Senju next. But even then they mostly had vitality and wood. Not really too far into OP territory.

If the Uchiha were going to be all Sharingan i wouldn't have as much of an issue with it. The way the Hyuugas are all Byakugan. They do one thing so that one thing can be awesome. The Sharangan does everything under the sun in addition to having all the normal abilities. Just passively it allows them to see and copy stuff right? In addition to that whole clan of geniuses bullshit.

The inherent problem is that in Naruto the Uchiha and Senju are both broken power set wise. Which actually makes them worse not better. And that's Uchiha's in a nutshell. They have too many advantages relative to everybody else. Hyuuga's aren't shooting spirit fire out of there eyeballs, nobody is weeping for them.

I mean, Sasuke's got fire abilities. He's got lightening abilities. He's swordguy. He can summon snakes (and also birds because bad writing) And all of that is before you even get to the Sharingan.
