A real shame she got done in by the plot.
Now looking back, after she said to Naruto that the Rain Village would stand alongside him and his dream, she should have joined the war effort as Amegakure's de facto leader, instead of just being in Obito's way to get the Rinnegan. If it were up to me, she still would have battled Obito and loose i guess, but survive the encounter somehow. And then she would have rounded up the Rain Village and joined the alliance to take revenge on stinkin Obito. This would have worked well with what she said to Naruto.

Yeah, Obito vs. Konan was bound to happen one way or the other, and Konan losing to him was inevitable.

I just wished the circumstances of the battle were different, like as you described instead of the Rinnegans being at stake... =(

I hate the fact that she didn't get a proper fight against Pain as the Hokage.
And not really a big fan of this 'I am female, so I must be the healer' trope.
But overall, she was a fine character I guess.

The problem with Tsunade is that she became a character who drunk the Naruto Kool-Aid WAY too much. Like sure, he keeps your dream alive, breaking the curse of the necklace, but:

Naruto: BAA-CHAN, DON'T KILL SASUKE
Tsunade: Ok

Naruto: BAA-CHAN, I'LL TRAIN TO FIGHT PAIN. DON'T DO ANYTHING.
Tsunade:Ok

It became a bit unbelievable at some point. At least there should have been a line drawn somewhere. Madara stuff was awesome though.

Anyways, she's a fine pick just missed my list. Stood up to Madara, her and katsuyu saved the inhabitants of the village from Shinra tensei, and she's the finest gilf.

She actually put a crack on maddy's sussano ribcage & also broke it a bit later on, for which raikage needed oohnoki's help. Also, tht cutting of sussano blade and surprising maddy, she is a good pick.

I love Tsunade. So very much. Legitimately one of my favorite characters in the series and I don't care how much shit I get for that one.

Her introduction as a traumatized elite shinobi was so good. That worked for me in huge way. Her comeback when she fought Orochimaru alongside Jiriaya was terrific. Her design and her skill set were so freaking cool too. She should have been utilized so much more than she was. Too bad after she became hokage the story just never had much real use for her anymore. She mainly just became a plot device for various things.

She also had one of the best romantic subplots in the series with her and Jiriaya. I ship that to the grave.

And she also should have provided a perfect pathway for Sakura to join Naruto and Sasuke in forming a Seinin trio just like Jiriaya, Tsuande and Orochimaru. Which sort of happened, but not really, in the war arc because Kishi hated Sakura just too much and made the other two far too OP.

Back when smashing a whole street to smithereens was still an impressive feat - the Tsunade from back then was worth some points

She had an interesting personality (been drawn to gambling/drink to cope with all she'd been through) and you could see her slowly start to change, due to Naruto's influence

That was also way back when Talk No Jutsu™ wasn't anywhere near as offensive as it ended up becoming (if, still, a teensy bit silly - it was still bearable)

Honestly, the only thing I don't like about Tsunade is how one note her style is, especially compared to Jiraiya and Orochimaru.

Other than that, she's one of the few well written kunoichi in the series that didn't get completely trashed story wise. If you're an older woman in Naruto, seems like you get some respect.
