I'm glad you mentioned '2 other students' - people often mention how he ignored Naruto, no one remembers [or cares] about Sakura. Who knows, if he'd shown Sakura a little more love, she might have grown up to be a more interesting character

-Loses all his fights in the series. The only one he ever wins is the Zabuza one

This bothers me far less - I don't really care if a character wins or loses their battles. To me, this isn't what makes an interesting character (many of the characters who did win all their fights, I dislike intensely)

-Spams Raikiri in all his fights. Once that goes out of fashion, he proceeds to spam Kamui in all his fights

For someone who was known as 'the copycat ninja', it would've been nice to see a little more variety in his techniques
... that said, he did still show more than most, so perhaps this is just yet another issue with Naruto as a whole

I just really, REALLY dislike Kakashi, if it isn't obvious already.

Personally, I don't actually dislike Kakashi as a character. He started strong and kinda faded towards the end. He kinda suffered the harsh rod of 'cool', rather than the gentle caresses of 'complexity' and 'subtlety'

Pain was cool, until it was revealed he wasn't really the leader. If anything, he and Tobi should've been the two antagonists of the series, both with different goals. Hell, make Tobi Sasuke's personal antagonist and keep Pain as Naruto's. Anyway, I like the idea behind his Jutsu. It could've just been a strange forbidden jutsu rather than yet another Sharingan variant.

Kakashi is...Kakashi. He's cool, but I kind of lost interest in him.

His scores seemed spread across the spectrum (with a tendency for higher values) - which is actually a better statement on the quality of the character, if you ask me

Kakashi made my list.

He was just a cool character who got completely destroyed. Just burnt to the ground as the story progressed. He would have made the perfect calm ninja mentor... if he hadn't been made to fail at every aspect of teaching in order to enable Sasuke in part 1. Then in part 2 he got reduced to subpar sharingan user. Then the retcons came in and... damn. I maintain that he got it the worst of anybody with those. There is just no way to get past him being Minato's pupal and treating Naruto like a nuisance. That's real bad.

He's one of those like Sakura whom I think really could have made the manga better if they weren't chucked into raw sewage.

As for anime, they even made tht BS OG end.

I did and it was great. Just needed a good anime to get out there help promote just how good it really was. It got the opposite of that. It's like they made an anime specifically to convince people the series was crap. For which a certain studio shall never be, and should never be, forgiven.

He has a lot of flaws. I can't deny that.

For a person who lost everyone close to him, the orphaned son of his beloved Sensei should have been someone to hold on to once said son was able to walk the streets of the village.

A planned coincidental encounter from his side.

Treat that boy to some Ramen at Ichiraku's.

Talk to him.

Build up a relationship.

Give him love.

Be a big brother.

Have a little brother.

Make your Sensei proud.

Ease a mother's heart.

Naruto would do good to his soul.

He would do good to Naruto's.

It could have been so beautiful.

These retcons…

It is also very debatable whether he was a good Sensei or not. All of his students left him rather early on. That he favored Sasuke was no secret. That he threw Naruto at Ebisu was horrible... at least hand him out to a capable shinobi. He didn't even watch Naruto's fight against Neji.

What are the pros?

He had an awesome gaiden dedicated to him (or is it dedicated to Obito now?).

He is one of Konoha's most loyal, intelligent, cunning, versatile and powerful shinobis.

Cared for his comrades. Saved them countless of times.

Ready to sacrifice himself for Konoha. Actually did.

He has completed over 1.000 missions.

Was prepared to kill Sasuke when he couldn't take his shit anymore.

He has great fights throughout the series, even though he takes all the L's most of the time, unfortunately.

Did Team 10 one hell of a favor.

Creator of one of the flashiest jutsus ever.

Underestimated by a lot of people in my opinion.

Doesn't it make sense that he would dedicate himself more to Sasuke and rly wanna affect him positively, leaving Naruto aside in the process?

Kakashi's bias is highlighted by a lot of readers but it's mostly because he was the sensei of the MCs. Gai's favoritism for Lee isn't often mentioned. Plus the whole ignore Naruto thing was mostly used as plot device to lead him to Jiraiya.

I'd say the better example of "fair" teacher was Asuma. I think it's clear that he liked Shikamaru more but he paid attention to his three students. Or at least I think so? I am not sure, my memory is fuzzy.

Yes, manga is great. Though last arc felt rushed a bit....more like just like with takamiya, they could have explored fuji and others a bit too and some more of demon world where 7 precepts meet and reach a decision...those were all off panelled, the only complain i have.

Kurenai is best example....she paid equal attention to all her students. Fairly impartial.

Pretty sure I said that he did favour Lee. Hell, before the 2nd half, it appeared to me that the man had changed everything about himself solely to inspire his student (and it worked)

My point was rather one of him trying to do what every good teacher does - support your failing students more, as they are the ones who really need the support

Not gonna say that there weren't better teachers - but I feel it's rather unfair to compare the treatment of Lee by Gai to that of Sasuke by Kakashi
To me, Kakashi's treatment of Sasuke was far less justifiable (even if you are to argue that Gai's treatment of Lee wasn't justifiable in the first place)

I have no issues with that he favors one of his students per se, but it is important what he does (or doesn't do) to his other students along the way. I can even accept that he gave Sasuke individual training during the Chuunin exams, especially after what Orochimaru did to him. Sasuke was always an unstable kind of being.

But Kakashi just handed Naruto to a fodder ninja, and his encounter with Jiraiya was pure coincidence.

Before the timeskip, Sakura decides for herself to be an apprentice of Tsunade. That also says something.

As zimbar pointed out, nothing in the manga suggests that he gave even one second of his life to Sakura during the timeskip, a period where Sasuke + Naruto were absent from the village.

Yep, their taijutsu was meant for internal damage and gai's and lee's for external hard physical blows.
