Mystogan had so much potential

This makes no sense. I gave you my answer to a question you asked.
i meant, with such a small response from your side, it kinda shows your lack of interest in this topic. so no motivation for me focus on this compared laxus vs erza. that is all
--- Double Post Merged, ---

@sharkai so ur agree that Laxus>erza so what’s the point of this debate? is cuz ppl beleive that there is a gap?

imo The confirmation is when mystogan floored every1 except makarov and laxus
yes. laxus > erza
the point is to find what is going through people mind to make laxus>>erza

using hax as a point is just horrible. laxus might have slept, but as usual was boosting about himself. both marakrov and laxus knew about mystogan, which might have also helped. hell, laxus might have had runes from freed. or even a weak heart.
also mystogan wanted to hide form erza the most.

this is point is just horrible. hax works, when plot demands it. weaker enemies hax will work fine on good guys. but for god sake mira cant macro anyone of worth
--- Double Post Merged, ---

At the beginning of the Manga, I think Erza was very "weak" because of her trauma. Her mind was far weakened her. This is why she was thinking that Natsu was at her level. He was not. She saw herself far weaker than she was just like Jose told her in Phantom Lord.

She was beginning her resilience during Paradise Tour vs Ikaruga. Before this period, her trauma should put Laxus "far" above her. This is why Laxus was thinking that Erza was too weak to compete with him. At this time, he only knew Erza like that. He wasn't aware about the beginning of her resilience who putted her "far" above a foe too strong for her (Ikaruga) and managed to surprise Jellal who didn't expected that power up.

So, in Fantasia, we don't know who would have won. Erza had hidden power (hakama without armor) and Laxus also had hidden power (Dragon Slayer). For me, they were around the same level.

With time, by analogy, I see them as even as "Natsu vs Gajeel" (don't count post Tartaros for the Dragon's Slayers's rivalry) : barely on the same level, but one can tap into far more power level in PoF (natural Dragon Force and Erza's Heart for example).

For now, in my opinion :
- In a scenario where they are challenging to strength contest, they are even. They will both hold back to not doing fatal blow and their staminas will be higher than their strike. Mismatch...
* Erza was only in that condition in her last fight vs Laxus : Handicap.

- In a scenario where they are both losing there mind, I think Erza can win, even without PoF. Laxus barely collapsed for a second when Erza used a hold back enchanted strike. With full strength, enhance with full anger, I don't know if Laxus can tank this. Erza could also manage to cut him as he couldn't even react in counterstrike. Both full anger, no restriction, I give Erza high to extreme diff.
* Laxus was only in that condition in his last fight vs Erza : Average.

- In a scenario, the same as Fantasia, where people's life are in Balance, Erza might fall before full Laxus's strength and then, will tap into PoF to bypass him the same way she did with Azuma. In PoF mode, Erza for the win, mid-diff, like Azuma.

I know people won't agree. I respect these idea and I will stop to debate. It is only my opinion. If you think Laxus is "far" stronger, I respect your point of view.
i see
well i dont try to extrapolate myself much.
only reason i compare laxus and erza because they werent compared much in the manga, and yet people had a strong opinion about it.

but this might be incorrect
after all jellal didnt know who would win, him or erza
marakrov thought erza or df natsu could take laxus

(there was another theory going around that laxus respected mystogan only because he was taking out trash guild in phantom arc, while fairy guild barely survived phantom main guild)

soo, who knows. i just try to stick with things shown.
for example wahl dying from lightening weakness. wahl weakness is cannon. he not being able to detect red lightening, might have caused his redirecting machine to not work, thus wahl being hit by his weakness at such a level killed him.
even here, i am not hundred percent sure.

laxus fans love to do this (making connection or inferences from literally thin air)
hades example
tempster example
are brought up for this reason

i wanted to ask you, what do you think is stronger
pre ts jellal GC or pre ts laxus Roar
and why

I have said before that I refuse to debate power levels going forward because of how terrible the system is and it's no longer fun because most people I debated were too ignorant to listen.

I give my my honest answer and that's it.

is the system bad now or even in early year of fairy tail?
this seems like a bad thread for you then

just for my wounded ego, can you tell me if i made any ignorant statement, and why.

Before it was way better than now because it made more sense because it actually had a structure. The strongest of the guild were Makarov and Gildarts far above anyone else for obvious reasons. Then came the S-Class which made sense because they were S-Class for a reason. Below that were guys like Gajeel, Natsu, Gray, Elfman, and the rest trying to catch up to everyone else.

Natsu and Erza ruined things by PoF'ing their way through almost everything and getting the most screentime. Gray and Gajeel not getting equal treatments in terms of power-ups like their "supposed" rival Natsu was. Also, DF didn't make any sense but that's a whole other discussion. It would've been better IMO if Gajeel, Gray, and Natsu had a rivalry to surpass Laxus; Mira and Erza had thier own thing continued then Makarov passes and Gildarts becomes the new GM.

However, Mashima focused too much on powering up the characters too much without much substance after the timeskip and it went all to shit. Currently in base I'd say there is a level of structure to it but power-ups are the norm now in FT.

Nah you're good. I disagree and believe there was a gap between Erza and Laxus but I genuinely don't care too much because now there isn't.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

And @grey matter would agree with me when I say that God Serena had so much potential and Mashima f***ed it up.

ah yeah.
i remember natsu in edolas arc, taking a power from the future :sweatdrop
erza was crapped on, her armors were literally declared useless since heaven arc. mishma should just have a made her a sword mage.

i think it really went bad from tenrou. natsu bs, erza pof bs, gajeel started eating his enemies since than

i agree. god serena should have had his own mini arc, before springgan appearance. and of course entire springgan arc was bs

thanks man, i will try not bore people more on this topic (this month)

Topic doesn't matter anymore. Why argue about technical of things that happened in the beginning of the series and not focus on now?

Personally I think many of the Spriggans should have been induced earlier in the series

The "power creep" is the worst thing that happened to this manga, just behind POF from Plotsu and Plotza.

Like, wizard saints and other top tier wizards, who trained for years and possibly decades to achieve their powers (with few exceptions like Laxus who's a genetic monster and Jellol who's a genius mage), got overtook easily by 20 year olds who trained for like an year. What the fuck?
Exponential power system always get messy and eventually become trash, this is something true in other anime as well.

And don't get me started of God Serena lol. The guy had hype and build up coming in from like 10th episode (whenever WS were introduced). The strongest wizard of the continent. And his intro in chapter 440 was fucking hype. Everything surrounding him was hype (for me at least, especially with the fan theories surrounding him)..............Didn't even get a fight where he could go all out, or even had an on screen fight. WASTED POTENTIAL. This is the second biggest letdown in the series for me (first is Zeref, the "legendary black mage", being utter trash)

YEP.

Believe it or not, there was a time when Erza was in my top 5 favs in the series, back when she actually used magic (requip) and strategy (occasionally) in her fight, instead of asspulls to win everything.
Now, her entire character has been reduced to red pants plot queen. Every other armour is freaking useless at this point, the last time requip was relevant, was during Edolas arc

God Serena 100% should've had his own mini arc. The possibilities were endless. Mashima could've easily made him Yuri and had good plots surrounding it. But we got the shit we got, wasted.

Clearly agree for Saint Wizard and S-Classes. Disappointed that, with time, it is only words with no meanings by now.

I also wanted to see Gildarts vs a full power Spriggan before fighting August. We know both are above. With a fight between Gildarts and a Spriggan, we should see the real gap.

God Serena had hype, Gildarts had hype as well. Why reducing one in this fight ? To put another on a pedestal ? Gildarts had his pedestal while fightning against the Wizard King. God Serena had so much potential... broken :(.

Zeref was clearly disappointed me as well. I feel he was more erudition wizard than fighter. I wanted him to be trashed by a team, like team Erza (main characters) or coallition like vs Acno..

Agree as well. Armors gave her more versatility and elementals magics. I also want them back. I think Mashima has to use "hakama pants" only as a trump card (like during Azuma's fight), not everytime. In the fight vs Laxus, I wanted her to use more armors, like her speed armor to compete in his lightning speed, adamantine armor to counter strike, use elemental like fire or wind.... Erza's Knight Magic had potential. I hope Mashima will back to them, like he did during Edolas Arc where it was great.

Yea. The wizard saints being overtook by 20 year old guys within an year is the biggest slap in the face of the entire verse. Things like training, talent, hard work, dedication etc means absolutely nothing, unless you're a "relevant character" (i.e FT top tiers + Jellol + twin dragons)

Gildarts vs God Serena should've been THE Gildarts fight. We could've possibly got the best fight of the arc right there. Instead Serena got nerfed and shitted on for a second time.......for what, Mashima? What did this accomplish?

Zeref should've fought a combo of those who had their goals solely or mainly on him - Natsu (as END.....what was even the point of having END hyped for 1-2 years and him doing absolutely nothing), Gray, Mavis, and Crime Sorcerie (the guild's entire purpose of existing was to eradicate Zeref's influence and Zeref himself, they didn't even get to MEET the dude LMFAO).
Zeref had waay too much hype and build up, from the very beginning of the series, to be solo'd by Natsu and his friendship crap. He should've gone down by a team effort. Like how the "father" homonculus was defeated in Full Metal Alchemist.

jellal a genious lol. he only seems to know GC and meteor

instead of that crap avatar arc. we could have had God serena arc, where at the end we get a boss fight like God Serena vs laxus + gildarts
the good guys lose
and serena joins springgans
then we get complete confirmation where even the weakest springgans was serena tier (maybe easily taking out team A with marakrov help or something) :wtf
good guys lose
then its springgans plus zeref vs Aconologia.

aconologia loses

time skip, where that world has finally been converted into that world that siegrein and hades wanted (one magic, zeref).
good guys goes into hidding

gildarts and marakrov dies.
natsu turn into END
gray gets stuck in demon form
erza skin starts falling off like her mother
jellal maybe learn some magic
laxus gets more dragon lacrimas
gajeel and levy raise a family in hiding
the strauss siblings run a pub

the story starts again with lucy getting near one magic, and she can gather all fairy tail members together with maybe some side characters
much better than these hidden god dragon atleast :s

Yes, clearly…

Many disappointement and I like this Manga. Mashima has ideas but has a weakness for the realisation.

Absolute Hype for Serena as the strongest Wizard, before knowing August and Irene, number one of Ishgar so the same portray as Gildarts. They were fated to face each other to an explosive fight for the contest of the strongest. Man, God Serena with 8 elements. what a potential !! Ok he was exterminate by Acno to show the gap between them, I agree. But why make him dead ? Hard injuries should make the same gap with Acno. Then restored by August healing spell and later fighting Gildarts to this best wizard contest should be far better in my opinion.... Gildarts for the win, but after an explosive fight, not one shot. We are talking about the far strongest of Ishgar, not a simple thug... OMG, such a disappoint !!

The same for Zeref. Crime Sorciere was create fo face and destroy him. I wanted a coallition of entire Crime Sorciere + Team Natsu and Mavis. And such a hype for this legendary black wizard. With a finish in a combinaison of END + Jellal + Mavis for exemple. The three were fated to destroy him. Not Natsu solo in his own human powers.... Disappoint for me, again...

I also expected more about Erza vs Laxus. Both used their ultimate techniques too soon. I was fan when Erza took Lightning Empress vs him, and seeing Laxus destroying her armor. But I wanted them to fight more in their classic Magic. Laxus in his classic lightning vs Erza's Knight. For me, two chapters where they should compete in different stats : speed (speed armor (do not remember real name) vs lightining speed), strength (adamantine vs lightning ougi), and elemental combos.... Mashima portrayed them barely equal in this fight. Laxus should destroy many of Erza's Armors and Erza should dealt damage as well to an explosive fight. Then, with less armors and Erza realising she can't beat Laxus, should pass in her red pants as a trump card like she did. Then Laxus, realising that he can't beat Erza in his classic Lightning anymore, goes in his red Lightning mode to the fight Mashima did in his Manga. For me, with 2 chapters before red pants vs red Lightning should be more impressive. It shows the two fighting styles of the two monsters on equal term. This is what I really expected... Disappoint again for me.

Agreed on Zeref 100% we need a AlvareASS movie T-T Having E.N.D , Jellal and his team & Gray attacking Zeref head on would've been so EPIC!!

I'm going by manga narrative.
Yes, when Laxus was a kid, he was weak. But he's a monster now, and it's implied that large part of it is due to Dreyar genetics. By the beginning of the series, IMO he's far outgrown the lacrima. Lacrima only provides a finite amount of MP, in addition to granting DS magic.
Jellal surely did become Jellol by x792, but that's because Mashima can't bother giving us a MAGE battle. But in his heydays, he indeed was an archmage, like Hades, Brain, Zeref and August. He has pretty much shown some of the most versatility in the series, he knows all kinds of magic in addition to his main magic. All basic elements and their unisions (like Abyss Break), dark magic, Mystogan's magic. random magics like self destruction, bind snake, barriers, advanced thought projection etc. He's been shown to be a genuis who learns magic by seeing it just once.

Right? What was even the point of Avatar? If Mashima's intention was to hype up out main cast, he utterly failed since these guys were fodder to begin with. Beating hypeless and featless fodders mean nothing.
It should've been Serena arc, with the finale of the arc revealing him to be Yuri (there is a lot going into that). Check this out

You just reminded me of one magic lmao, wtf happened to that? Another wasted hype/plot -_-
IMO Acno shouldn't even appear until one magic is realized. Acno should have his own arc, after one magic arc (he appears at finale of the arc). August, Eileen and Serena (Yuri) final villains of one magic arc
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Jura should've been Gildarts level. Him vs GS or another Spriggan would've been awesome.
They did Jura dirty.

I don't mind him being low diff'd by Serena, but at least he should've had an on screen fight against a low tier Spriggan prior. As well as the other GOI. They all got shat on by Mashima's writing, smh

Yes, when Laxus was a kid, he was weak. But he's a monster now, and it's implied that large part of it is due to Dreyar genetics.
pathetically weak to be accurate. I don't think it's just Dreyar genetics. Look Ivan fooder. (Dreyar genetics + Dragon Lacrima(Borrowed Power =Steriods).

August is just a copy cat isn't he. He doesn't deserve that title. It's like someone copying assignments from someone and calling himself the King of Assignments. We don't even know if he can retain the copy magic otherwise he wouldn't want Brandish's help to shrink that wound.

Back that statement up though. They mention Laxus has a frail body as a child and that’s what held him back. At which point did they say the Lacrima gave him power? It gave him dragon magic, which understandably helped with his frailty, but I missed that part. It could be a big clue towards how the lacrima DF people keep mentioning would work.

You already did. No need to waste my time one this. If he had Dragon Force Mashima would have said so. Which he didn't. I only take it as him activating his DS magic. Just like God Serena's eyes glowing or Cobra's arm. If he had Dragon Force, Mashima would have said so just like he has when every time a DS has entered DF. So don't bother tagging me on this DF Nonsense.

I wish the Wizard Saints were actually the strongest wizards.
