For awakening, I do not think Luffy will be able turn objets into rubber as his powers do not work like that (his DF is not a logia or a paramecia which can produce matter like Katakuri/Doflamingo) and it would be a weak awakening. However, I think he will be able to grant rubber properties onto the objets like elasticity or bouncing effects (same properties his body has) and it will give Luffy a massive power up to cancel high level attacks, destabilize his opponent’s movements or uses the environment to hurt.

For example, imagine a strong attack flies to Luffy who uses awakening on some object in between him and the opponent, then the attack is absorbed by elasticity and bounced back elsewhere or even to his opponent’s face.
If haki wasn't a thing I could see that happening, but since armament haki was introduced to the series Luffy's elasticity is reduced to zero when hit, so I guess turning an object into rubber and using it as a shield would work just like using an object as a shield without turning it to rubber.

Or imagine the opponent moving towards Luffy who uses awakening on the environment and the opponent ends up bouncing in different directions as the rubber-like air/ground impact his movements and Luffy makes him bounces wherever he wants so that he can finally punch him.
This could work and it would be much more OP than it sounds.

And what if Luffy uses gears on objects, like manipulating a G4 massive building to attack? I imagine him like Jinbe with water but with his rubber-like environment. 😱😱😱
And this... is impossible. Gears work by inflating bones and muscles and, now, coating himself with armament haki, but Luffy's not even capable yet of full-body coating so there's no way he can coat a building with haki and then again if he could he should just do it; no gomu gomu involved for it to work as a devastating attack. I wonder if anyone in the series would be capable of such badassery.

Imo Luffy's awakening gives him full control over his body shape and rubber density just like Mr.Fantastic this coupled with his new advanced haki will make him a top tier contender.

I imagine luffy being able to make his body harder, softer, shape shifting etc this opens up a whole new world of possibilities and creativity for his abilities.
Mr. Fantastic is one of the strongest characters in the Marvelverse just like Plastic Man is in the DC Verse. If Luffy gets their abilities then the gomu gomu will be a fruit that goes from "kinda useless" when first acquired to "the more overpowered fruit so far in all of One Piece" when fully mastered.

It would be cool but at the same time just too much (in my opinion) for the power equilibrium of this manga. Unless, of course, his control and limit is much more limited than those two heroes' power.

G5 will probably be his awakening fighting style.

Who does Luffy choose from his harem to Marry???? Does Boa Hancock finally get her wish?? If not Boa? Will That start a war??? Lol I got questions
Doesn't Hancock have an illness that will kill her if she's not with Luffy? Luffy will marry her eventually, no other way around it. Even Dragon Ball's Goku has had a fair share of children and hes just as dense and asexual as our boy Luffy.

Since seeing the Fishman Island Arc, Shirahoshi does not bear a grudge towards Hody Jones after he murdered her mother. I've been wondering for a while whether Luffy will/ has been doing the same regarding Sakazuki (whether deciding to after knowing Shirahoshi's past) after he murdered Ace.

Thoughts?
Luffy will destroy Sakazuki just like he will destroy Blackbeard. No way he forgives them.

Probably not. While I think Akainu's killing of Ace is justified, Luffy never cares about what's right or wrong. Anyone dares to hurt people who are close to him will not be forgiven.

I don't see why Luffy would forgive Akainu for killing Ace, Luffy has no reason to do that. Shirahoshi's mom wanted her to forgive and bring about peace, but I don't think Ace would have cared about that. Luffy would want revenge unless he needs to work with Akainu to protect his loved ones.

Yeah, I don't think luffy specifically cares that akainu was a marine doing his job, he probably has a personal bone to pick with him. Add to that, akainu is a marine that kinda embodies the darkest aspects of the marines. The most brutal and cruel "justice" along with apparently not having much of an issue with the stuff done by tenryubito. Sengoku an aokiji were fluffy kittens compared to akainu in that regard....
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

The other point to consider here is that luffy doesn't exactly go out and about killing enemies, he usually leaves them alive. So even if luffy gets his revenge, it will just be beating akainu to a pulp. Which by itself won't actually affect akainu's position in the world government.

That is the Full Power of Luffy's Devil Fruit, once Awakened. You should have known that it was coming when Luffy invented Gear 4 but needed haki to sustain his Gear 4. That would no fly in a 1 v 1 against any top tier.

Just like Luffy mastering Gear 2, using it on 1 limb, Gear 3 and Gear 4 are also going that way.

Will we ever find out who were the women behind the men as in who was Garp's wife, Dragon's mom, and Luffy's grandmother and Dragon's wife, Garp's daughter-in-law, Luffy's mother? I feel Oda at least got say something on mother at least. Possibly saving it till Dragon is more involved, but been interested about it for years and Monkey Family lineage.

I think he's stronger than them...but only slightly so. If they fought he would not be guaranteed a win (Law and Kidd). I think he's stronger than King as well, but not by much. I assume King is on Katakurri level or just below, so that would still give Luffy a fight.

The plot requieres Luffy to be stronger than them, so I guess Luffy > Law > Kidd.
If it wasn't for the latest haki Luffy's achieved, I'd put Law above him.

Can't say anything about King because we have seen nothing of him. His race may have unique powers other than his DF.

I believe that Luffy's main power is not his haki or his DF but his sheer luck.
It's like the stars are always aligned for him to win.

Otherwise Law>Luffy>=Kidd imo.
In a crew where the only thing that matters is strenght I think that King is most likely stronger that strawhat at least physically.

I think that King's power has something to do with fire something similar to Sanji

As of now Luffy seems much stronger. None of them have shown that they can keep up with G4.
But Law has the most OP DF there ever was. It's the main reason I see him defeating Luffy.
That and the fact he is much much smarter

I can think of ways that both Law and Kidd can beat Luffy.
Law is simply bad match-up while Kidd is medium manipulator aka another Pica/Cracker which is also bad match-up for Luffy.
King is an extremely bad match-up for Luffy, should stay away from him as far as possible.

G2 and G3 Luffy was pretty much going to to toe with Doffy while Law was being toyed around by Doffy so there is no way Law would be able to be Luffy's opponent, at this point I doubt even Law can beat Sanji who is the 4th strongest in the crew.

Not true. Luffy vs Doflamingo happened right after Doflamingo had his internal organs destroyed and burned by Law.

Doflamingo patched them up instantly by stitching them together with his DF power, but that doesn't mean there was no damage. Luffy couldn't have kept up in a 1vs1 against Doflamingo without that first half of the fight with Law and was still played with by Doflamingo and, even then, Luffy would have died when his G4 transformation wore out the first time if he wasn't helped by Sabo and the others.

Not to mention Law's ability isn't that much about raw power, yet he still has a lot of "raw power" (like he showed us when he cut Vergo and a mountain in half); his DF fruit is a lot more tricky than that. He can defeat Luffy without trying to overpower him with strength.

And I failed to mention it but Doflamingo "playing with Law" caused him the serious wound that nerfed him to Luffy's level (well, still above Luffy's level if not for G4).

As I see it, Sanji would have serious trouble against Law even with RS (his invisibility wouldn't help either against Scan). Without RS, Punk Hazard made clear that Law is above Sanji even in raw strength, and he clearly has the upper hand in versatility of techniques and abilities. With RS, we still have to see how exactly the RS boosts Sanji but the invisibility shouldn't do that much unless it's not a proper 1vs1 and Sanji ganks him.

And the whole "Sanji, just like Luffy, will have gotten much stronger since Punk Hazard despite not training and almost not fighting at all all this time", because Law for now has also the same treatment and has naturally grown stronger as well (and has actually been fighting a lot).

Why pretend few people don't gets stronger on each arc? You think Law is same level since Dressrosa and still won't beat Doflamingo now after hype he is given in Wano with Luffy and Kidd? Also where Sanji came from and that comment? We all know Zoro is 4th strongest given his performance.

Law has improve himself since then and is treated equal to Luffy and Kidd in this attack on Kaido, so Idk why others think Zoro and Sanji are still above his major rivals as if they are his Whitebeard/Shiki to Luffy's Roger as Major Pirate Rivals then that's very unlikely and your disregarding completely thinking someone is same from back then just for losing against someone prior. Law got some new techniques along with Kidd on how they face later and not doubting down Sanji and Zoro as they gotten stronger too even can face some of Supernovas (Idk about Zoro given his performance with them though), but not above Kidd and Law that's for sure.

Actually I can see why some think Sanji can beat Law given he didn't do good against Vergo who outspeed him and preventing him to launch attack until Smoker arrive and Sanji could do same especially RS with it Stealth abilities mess him up more, but seeing how Oda is pushing on Law and Kidd, they won't be people that Luffy's main forces will beat in a fight like Zoro and Sanji. They could try give struggle, but Oda pushing them as next Whitebeard/Shiki of this generation for Luffy's Roger, so don't think that it going to be like that.

it makes no sense to think law could be as strong as luffy... Back at dressrosa law was about comparable to gear 2-3 luffy and lasted against doflamingo about the same or less than gear 2-3 luffy. Gear 4 luffy was leagues ahead of law, being capable of not only keeping up with doflamingo but also overwhelm him. Law being stronger now than he was back then makes perfect sense but what doesn't seem even remotely likely is that law has grown even more than luffy since then. Luffy since dressrosa has improved the time he can be in gear 4, shown more varieties of gear 4, acquired the highest degree of observation haki introduced to date AND also learned the highest level techniques we know of for armor haki. Law since then overcoming the edge gear 4 gave luffy over him would already be extraordinary but on top of that growing strong enough to compensate for everything else is kinda absurd. It'd take some serious MC cred to do that. In the end, none of luffy's captain peers has ever evidenced being on luffy's level during the timeskip....

I had no doubts you'd consider Sanji stronger than Law. I'm surprised you're giving him and Kidd some chance at least for plot reasons, actually, despite the first part of your argument, in which beating Vergo somehow makes him inferior to getting broken bones against Vergo.

As I see it people completely ignore two things.
- Law was able to keep up with Doflamingo, which is impressive by itself (even though Doflamingo wasn't using his awakening nor was 100% serious, of course, because he's an overconfident ass) and thanks to his shambles Dofly ate a good G2 punch and was afterwards pierced by Law and burned internally.

That kind of coordination and rhythm already puts Law above G2 Luffy.

- Luffy totally surpassed Doflamingo in G4, yes, but that was not Doflamingo at his best, either. It can't be used to scale the power/ability of Law during the previous clash, precisely because Doflamingo actually got a fatal blow by Law and was stitching his organs together. Even if he moved and talked naturally, getting his torso pierced and burned from the inside is more damage than any other character has survived in the series. It's almost the same kind of damage that killed Ace. There's no way he was fighting at his true full strength right after taking that.

Gear 4 is a great power up, but the opponent was nerfed. By Law. Luffy wouldn't have survived that same attack.

We don't know how much Law has grown. For all we know he could pull a power up similar to Gear 2. We also didn't see Luffy train or create that one either and he came up with it after Long Ring Long Land and before Enies Lobby, so during their short stay at Water 7.

Assuming Law hasn't grown THAT much as Luffy has, it comes back to my original comment of Luffy probably being stronger now thanks to his new haki.
The Gear 4 power up may bring his raw strength and speed above Law, but Law is a technical fighter. Law's stats are very high, but they're just complements to him. He's smart and versatile.
He has ways of fighting for which he doesn't need the same raw strength Luffy has. That's why I could see Law keeping up with Luffy's most recent power ups.
However Luffy is the MC and the one who will beat Kaido ultimately and find Raftel and the One Piece, etc, so Law will fall behind undoubtedly.[/QUOTE]

It's true that the battle against doflamingo was one of attrition but that doesn't really make a difference to what I said. And even law landing his gama blade on doflamingo required support iirc. Also, it's not even remotely the same type of damage as what ace took from akainu. The gama knife is a simple cut which slashes internal organs. And doflamingo stitched himself back together because he simply took a cut. Akainu punched through ace with a lava fist. Akainu basically got rid of ace insides, there was nothing left that could be healed. If doflamingo gets a lava fist through his stomach its game over unless the guy can weave entirely new organs and a spine from his strings.

But... what this assumes is not that law has grown as much as luffy, this would imply law has grown more than luffy. Because law was clearly not as strong as luffy back at dressrosa. So if the possibility is raised that law has managed to caught up with luffy then clearly the implication is that law's growth has to be greater than luffy's. But regardless, luffy's growth has been entirely extraordinary and there is zero evidence anywhere that law has kept up or caught up. same goes for the rest of luffy's peers.
