Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

It's mocking these type of memes(atleast I hope it is) :

Basically it's for people who don't know what demographic means and think it's a genre.
Kingdom-Hard Shounen
Attack On Titan-Soft Seinen
???
No words for that picture

Ya'll do realize that Shonen and Seinen are just demographics and not genres right?
The only difference between Seinen and Shonen is the nudity that can be shown. The gore/dark theme/story telling are all upto the mangaka themselves.

CSM is Shonen. Kingdom is Seinen. Because those are the demographics they aim for when serialized in those magazines.

I think that goes without saying though I think Kimetsu is a soft shonen mixed with some hard shojo with a sprinkling of true seinen :derp

Yeah it is obviously based of demographics so idk why people keep saying stuff like HxH is a seinen in disguise. Though Domestic No Kanojo exists so idk about nudity lol (At least from what I heard it has a lot and ran in Shounen Magazine).

Surely that can't be a serious chart. I know it's a meme for people to insist their favourite manga is 'too good' to be shounen or whatever, but someone there has put a lot of effort into making up a bunch of total nonsense.

Just saw Burn The Witch. It was a lot of fun. Great animation as well. That's the sort of art style I wish Bleach's final arc gets. Art style, not necessarily the high quality animation itself since I know that wouldn't be possible for a potentially 50 episode anime series.

Seems like they brought back the ending of the one-shot for the ending of this anime with SS West Branch thing and the panty shot with BLEACH highlighted at the ending logo. The panty shot was my least favorite part of the whole thing. Low-key annoyed they ended with that.

We all know this, but it’s still prevalent regardless. Sometimes it’s just fun to engage it.

Kinda like knowing Santa Claus is fake, but still enjoying Christmas.

Many of us don't find it fun though as it perpetuates misconceptions about the industry.

No people genuinely think this way. The reason being is that many sites and youtubers equate shonen to lighthearted action series and seinen to dark dramas even though just a quick search through the manga section of MAL proves otherwise. It annoys the crap out of me because literally everyone outside of this thread just takes this annoying misinformation and just run with it.

I know.
But unfortunately, way too many casual manga readers legit think Shonen and Seinen are manga genres. I'm sure there would be a couple of users on this forum who browse this thread regularly and still think that.

Also, Santa Claus is not fake. How dare you.

Not even that. A fuckton of Shonens have nudity in them. I don't know about the other magazines currently since WSJ (the mag) doesn't allow nipples anymore (more self regulation than anything I conjecture), but back then it was fair game. I think only sex scenes are allowed in Seinen series because they can go pretty far in all them Bochu Jutsu scenes only on the condition that they don't have the....vital information detailed.

Yeah, Sunday series have nipples. Was a big surprise for me when I first got into Magi and I was under the mistaken assumption you couldn't show nipples in a shonen mag.
Really the only difference in seinen and shonen magazines is who they're marketed towards. Yes, you're more likely to see more explicit violence or sexual content in a seinen, however it doesn't mean they can't be portrayed in a shonen mag if the shonen magazine wants to publish it because they think it could do well with a segment of the reader base.
Just like how there's lots of tamer series in seinen magazines that could easily be in a shonen demographic magazine, but aren't because the editorial staff for the seinen mags thought it could do well in their mag when it was brought to them.

Obviously Dragon Ball had nipples, but that was decades ago.

There’s been several responses correcting the user who stated it, though. So it’s not going unchecked.

In fact, every time it’s stated, it usually ALWAYS gets corrected, especially here.

I said it before, but Domestic No Kanojo was in WSM.
