Mashima kept asking the fans to read to the 100 years quest when he was drawing couples, He said it one time when he was drawing Jerza and another time when he was drawing Nalu,

The last request was a sketch of Natsu carrying Lucy like a princess, Mashima commented on it being the last request as a set up. He also said he always draw them like more than friends and he would like to see them like that but their relation is still yet to unfold.

moreover, He said that their relation may don't get a big story but the story will eventually evolve.

We mostly want development, not just '' 'together they end up END "" like naruto and hinata or ichigo and orihime.

We want to see this love grow, that natsu really take notice.

For example, gruvia and jerza have had a huge development lately.

So the nalu must have the same.
