Another year for BLack Clover greatness as it continues to make its climb to Naruto in manga sales. It will get there eventually.
...not really.
I'm guessing/hoping for an Act-Age anime announcement at some point during 2020. As for the magazine itself, I think WSJ is going to try serializing at least 2 romcoms during the year since We Never Learn is 99% likely to conclude this year, and Yuuna could end whenever it so chooses basically.
Nope.
Im calling JJK in spring and Act Age in Autumn, Chainsawman in 2021
Unfortunately not.
Sorry bro.
Okay, new years bets!
-Either Yozakura or Mitama survives. Leaning on Yozakura.
-We Never Learn, Promised Neverland and Kimetsu no Yaiba end, though not necessarily in that exact order.
-Anime announcements for Act-Age and Chainsaw Man.
-Jujutsu gets a big boost and becomes a fixture of the Top 10.
-Tsunehiro Date returns as at least the artist for a new romance manga.
-Either Yusuke Utsumi, Takamasa Moue, Gen Osuga or Ryoji Hirano returns.
-Should Mitama be axed, Shun Numa returns.
-Tadahiro Miura finally gets bored and ends Yuuna already.
-Zipman survives, maybe? Can't exactly say we don't even have a chapter out.
5 out of 9, with some imprecisions.
Some of my predictions (bets more like)
-JJK anime will be very good, should have a respectable boost in sales, will cement its position as a main manga of the magazine.
-Act-Age anime announcement mid-year, to air sometime on winter/spring, it will also become a main manga.
-One of these new year beginners will be stable on the magazine
-Chainsaw-man will get an anime announcement by the end of the year, sales will continue to grow rapidly throughout the year.
-Yozakura will survive for quite awhile yet
-Samurai 8 gets transferred to jump+
-Dr.Stone will announce its ending before the year's end.
-Hunter x Hunter will have another hiatus year (lol)
-Worries about the magazine portfolio should subside.
-Kimetsu will last (a bit) more than people believe.
3 1/2 out of 10
- JJK has a surge of popularity and enters the top 10 yearly sales
- Both Yozakura and Mitama survive for the whole year.
- CSM keeps rising and gets an anime announcement on Jump Festa.
- WNL, HQ, TPN, KNY and Yuuna all come to an end.
- MHA has a slight boost from the movie and S4.
- AA either grows or stabilizes and gets an anime announcement sometime in 2020.
- A few 2020 rookies surviving.
- S8 and BC's sales either remain or drop.
- HXH probably won't come back.
- OP will remain the same.
8 out of 10, more or less. Not bad!
I'm just hoping that Kenta Shinohara returns with a new series. He said that he's been working on something new, and I believe that he briefly mentioned it before he deleted his Twitter account.
also HxH return pls
*checks wiki*
Oh, the Sket Dance guy. Still MIA unfortunately.
New thread? Nice. I'm curious to see what this jump year has in store for us. Hopefully a CSM anime!!
No news about CSM anime yet.
since everyone already predicted jjk blowing up in 2020, I'm gonna make some bolder predictions.
-mitama will sell 18k fw, yozafam 15k
-mitama will get a major shout-out that will boost it's sales
-black clover anime will end with this last batch of 50 eps
-bc manga will drop below 130k first month
-zipman and agravity boys will flop but live for over 3 volumes, but the next batch will have a hit
-kimetsu will get a gacha and console game announced
-infinity train will be in summer, boosting sales to over 1 mil first month
-s2 will be announced after the screenings of infinity train for winter 2022
-the yearly sales gap between one piece and the 1st or 2nd place seller will be less than 1 mil
-act age will get it's anime announced in April, chainsawman in august
-galaxy gangs will save the magazine
-and finally, people will still deny kimetsu beat one piece in the 2019 yearly manga sales
I'm no good with sales data, so I leave it to the experts. Did he got them right?
I wish all the best for JJK in 2020. I can see it being in the top 10. Let's hope everything plays out well and it gets a nice backlog boost.
What I mainly want from 2020 is...
-Jigokuraku to reach even greater heights of success
-Shimabu returning
-Well produced & successful anime for JJK
I think Kimetsu can very well end in 2020 but we will see.
Nailed it!
I want a new comedy series, a new romcom, a new work from Shinohara, a mystery manga, a sekaikei type of manga..
...well, you sure got your comedy.
I just want 10 chapters of HxH.
Sorry, keep waiting.
Aight so here's some predictions:
- Jujutsu Kaisen takes the place of Kimetsu as the second big hit after KNY ends. (maybe not as big tho lmao that would be crazy)
- Black Clover begins it's descent into late Bleach / SnS territory
- Yozakura and Mitama survive
- New serializations by Masaoki Shindo (Count Over) and Yuusei Matsui (AssClass, Neuro)
- HxH returns about halfway through the year
- Chainsawman and Act-age animes both announced
- Samurai 8 to some other magazine, Saikyo or + or smth
1 out of 7
My predictions, from most likely to least likely:
-Jump will run different sport manga in anticipation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (And because they are lacking spokon manga right now, with Haikyuu seamingly entering its last arc.)
-Also Jump will run new romance manga, I think both We Never learn and Yuuna will end next year.
-Black Clover starts descending in ranks/sales.
-This is not Kimetsu no Yaiba´s last arc, I think maybe there´s a timeskip..:? Idk, I just think JUMP will do anything in their power to keep their best selling battle manga since BLEACH.
-Hunter x Hunter returns, hopefully for at least 2 volumes.
-Hikaru no go/Naruto one-shots to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
0 out of 6...not bad.
Damnit, I missed the Oricon shitposting.
Anyway, predictions, predictions:
-Act Age gets an anime adaptation sometime in the middle of the year. It'll go the Chihayafuru route where nobody watches it, but the people who do will love it to death and shill it to the ends of the earth.
-Chainsaw Man gets an anime adaptation at the end of the year, ahead of 2021 Jump Festa. When it does air, it will be somewhat controversial, but since certain other anime will have aired, people will have gotten used to it.
-Jujutsu Kaisen finally finds some Western popularity and gets a boost in sales. It will overtake Black Clover in first month per volume sales before that.
-The Promised Neverland ends first, followed by We Never Learn, and then Kimetsu no Yaiba. Kimetsu will get second or third in this year’s Oricon, it’s placing entirely depending on what period of the year it ends. Neverland will not be in the Top 5. In an interesting twist and against my personal wishes, Sensei controversially wins the Yuigabowl over Fumino.
-Haikyuu’s sales begin to recover due to its 4th anime season.
-HeroAca receives a boost due to the movie and Season 4, which may allow it to briefly surpass 600k a month.
-Yozakura and Miitama will survive to make up for the lack of survivors in 2019.
-Yuuna goes the Gintama route in teasing an ending, except more frustrating because we get a lot more one-off chapters. Oh yeah, Yuuna’s probably not gonna end this year.
-One Piece will likely reclaim its throne and people will forever wonder if Kimetsu would have been able to wrestle from it again if it continued running. This will inevitably fuel to the constant dick measuring contest that is the Jump fanbases till the end of time.
-Black Clover continues a slow decline in sales yet increases in quality in a great comeback story that defies the shonen norm.
-Hunter x Hunter comes back for 10 chapters.
That should be every currently running Jump series. Honestly more curious about Jump Plus predictions.
Not sure about all of them, but it seems like most predictions were wrong.
My predictions/hopes for 2020:
- JJK getting a decent boost and a decently produced anime
- Chainsawman and Act Age anime announcement
- Yozakura and Zipman surviving
- WNL, TPN, KnY ending
- KnY season 2 announcement
- New series from Matsui, Tamura, Iwashiro or Ryou Ishiyama (Mitsukubi, Amalgam),
- Serialization of Hakutei no Erika, Ultramarine Battle or Rappa Rendan
- Ice Hockey, Surfing, Detective, or Adventure manga
- Kirisu-sensei winning the WNL Bowl
One correct, others partially correct.
Lurked without an account for a bit of 2019, seems like a good time to start posting.
Predictions:
Yozakura and Mitama both make it to at least 4 volumes.
Samurai 8 gets respectable, but not great sales growth.
Tokyo Grind Horror Channel serialization.
Short The Comiq style manga about some Olympic sport.
Act-age anime is inevitable.
Dr. Stone announces final arc at some point during the year but doesn't end this year.
1 out of 6
My predictions for 2020
- AA not actually getting anime this year and instead getting one for spring 2021
- Chainsaw man getting anime for winter
- Mitama dead, yoza surviving barely above axe range
- Zipman idk what the fuck is gonna happen with it
- KnY, WNL, TPN, Haikyuu, Yuuna Ending
- Return of Matsui
- KnY Movie Spring
2 out of 7 (more or less)
I've given it some thought, and here are my predictions/hopes for 2020.
- both Mitama and Yozakura survive, hanging around the lower middle range like early Jujutsu Kaisen
- Chainsaw Man has an anime announced.
- Jujutsu Kaisen's sales jump due to the anime announcement/potentially anime airing, and Western reception improves due to that and the official release of earlier chapters of the series, previously unavailable legally.
- Act-Age has something live action announced first, with an anime potentially being announced at Jump Festa.
- Samurai 8 climbs high enough in sales that we stop hearing (or at least they stop being posted as often) the wailings of "Samurai 8 is getting axed next week, my uncle's cousin who works at Shueisha said so".
- Yuuna ends around the middle of the year, but thankfully pulls a To Love Ru and starts the Yuuna Darkness arc in Jump SQ within the next two years, receiving a considerable sales boost, back up above its prime in WSJ, when it does.
- The Black Clover anime will end once the current saga they're on is fully animated. The manga, however, will sadly not receive any sort of boost in sales or recognition despite only getting consistently better as it goes along.
- Agravity Boys will be axed after 3 volumes, but in an ironic twist, Zipman will receive a recommendation by Horikoshi and survive the year.
- Dr. Stone finishes the current arc, and its final arc is announced, which will run for another 1-2 years.
- My Hero Academia gets a small boost once season 4 really gets to the good parts, as well as the movie coming out.
- We Never Learn ends between February and March, with none of the girls winning the Yuigabowl.
- The current arc of The Promised Neverland is dragged out longer than we actually thought it would be, but still ends by April at the latest.
- One Piece's Wano arc enters it final act, but it still does not end this year.
- Haikyuu!'s sales will pick back up a bit with season 4 airing and hype around the "final" arc.
- Kimetsu no Yaiba doesn't drag its feet in ending, and takes the AssClass/Kuroko route, ending at the height of its popularity.
- One prolific veteran will return, and another "veteran" who has only had flops will return and make a hit for themselves.
5 complete guesses out of 15, a couple of partials
I know Silver Spoon was a million seller, but there's a niche sport that's in Sunday, (even then, the Equestrian aspect wasn't even a big part of the story) and there's a niche sport that's in JUMP. Besides Silver Spoon's main selling point is the comedy.
Also, here's my predictions:
*Stephen A. Smith Voice*
-One Piece slides down in sales from previous year, only nearly reaching #1 by a thin margin,
-Galaxy Gangs is not getting published.
-Komi comes back with a battle/adventure manga
-Tosh, same as above
-Erica gets serialized along with a badminton manga (maybe even have the duo based on Susi & Alan)
-Kimetsu maintains dominance once again.
-MHA will get another anime in October
-KImetsu vs One Piece discrepancy will blow up and Nakano gets fired.
3 out of 8
I think Act-Age, and Chainsaw Man anime announcements are more so absolutes than predictions.
My predictions though are
- We’ll get a new successful Sports manga
- Samurai 8 moves to Jump+ as a Bi Weekly series
- Jump+ will have a couple more breakouts following SxF’s success this year
- Spy X Family anime announcement around this time next year
- Jump Force 2, or another Jump game period, is either teased, or announced
- Dragon Ball 2uper doesn’t happen, but we do get another Dragon Ball Film announced.
- A Remake/Reboot film/series is announced for a classic series. That, or some popular series that never got an anime gets an anime announced.
- Kimetsu No Yaiba live action film gets announced(Japanese Live Action. Not Hollywood)
Dragon Quest fills the quota, right? If so, 1 correct prediction.
My predictions:
-Jujutsu receive a big boost because of the anime and become a main pillar of the magazine, surpassing BnhA in Sales.
-Black Clover sales drop, becomes a 150k seller.
-Yozakura Mission survives.
-Chainsaw man get an anime announcement.
-Both Kimetsu and Neverland end.
-Dr.Stone enter in the final arc
-Fujimaki returns to the magazine with a shonen fantasy manga
3 out of 7.
My 2020 Predictions:
- Act-Age and Chainsaw Man get anime announcements, don't air until 2021
- No Spy x Family anime announcement until 2021 at the earliest, but it continues to sell gangbusters in the meantime
- The Jujutsu Kaisen anime is high budget and does awesome, giving the manga boosts that are solid but not quite KnY level.
- Jump+ will debut another breakaway hit that probably should have debuted in WSJ instead
- Hunter x Hunter comes back for 10 chapters in the first half of the year
- The Promised Neverland and We Never Learn end by Spring 2020 ; Dr. Stone and Kimetsu no Yaiba end in the second half of 2020
- Samurai 8 survives through 2020, largely by default, as established series keep concluding and S8 fails to be outnumbered by new hits
- One of Yozakura or Mitama survives, but not both
- Zip-Man has a very strong, charming start but peters out. Agravity Boys debuts to mixed reception but gets really cool later. Neither survive past 2020
- New sports series about either Baseball/Softball, Karate, Sport Climbing, Skateboarding, or Surfing launches in the lead-up to the Tokyo Summer Olympics
- New series from Tomohiro Yagi (Red Sprite), Ryoji Hirano (Bozebeats), and Gen Osuga (Golem Hearts). At least two become modest successes at minimum
- Enough high quality titles debut this year that some of us will start having a higher opinion of Nakano, but not enough that Mammo will.
- At least one of my Top 5 Mangas of 2020 will be a 2020 WSJ debut.
3 sure guesses, some other partially right. Some are too subjective to judge.
My predictions :
-Anime for Act Age and Chainsawman
-WNL and Kimetsu End (prolonging these two would only make the series decline in quality).
-Heroaca part 1 will end (The series will take some kind of Shippuden/Quincy War/New World arc)
-One piece Wano Arc would definitely not end this year.
-Old shonen Jump reboot, but I'm confident in Stone Ocean adaptation the most.
1 1/2 out of 4
I also predict Stone Ocean will be announced in 2020. I cant wait
...keep waiting, then.
Predictions for 2020:
- Black Clover anime ends and manga sales drop even further
- Yozakura survives
- Zipman will like get canceled due to people getting mad for MHA’s similarities
- Jujutsu Kaisen animated by Bones and gets a huge manga boost
- At least 2 new hit series from the magazine
- One Piece dethroned again by either Jujutsu Kaisen or Kimetsu no Yaiba
- Kimetsu no Yaiba gets extended and sales get over 1M in a month
- Act-Age anime announced
- Chainsaw-Man anime announced
- Yakusoku no Neverland ends
7 out of 10, with some adjustments.
Lurked for a while here both with and without an account for half of 2019 or so. Thought it would be a good time to start posting. Here are my predictions:
-One piece doesn't get first on oricon again
-20 Hxh chapters
-Jjk getting a huge boost to top three on oricon list and becomes the new super popular seasonal battle shonen in the west
-Kny slows down a bit and gets 4th on oricon
-Samurai 8 sales dwindle down and it eventually moves magazines
-Black Clover goes back to pre-anime sales, but anime will stay
-Jump Force 2 or new jump console game that isn't One piece, Naruto, or Dragon ball
-Mitama and Yozakura will survive this year
-actage anime announcement
2 1/2 out of 9
Bold Predictions 2020
JJK 1 mil/month
KnY 1.5 mil/month
CSM Movie
Mitama 300k/month
HxH 40 chapters
Hero, BC, OP maintains
Still not good with sales data. Anyone help?
