Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.
8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

and i still maintain that akainu actually dealt way worse damage to white beard than white beard dealt to him, heck he went to take on wb commander remnants and then chase after the blackboard pirates immediately after

Either way, a bisento, a halberd, a glaive, any of those, are not swords, they are polearms. They are bladed weapons. Their blades can be supreme grade or supersaiyan god supersaiyan ultra instinct grade: they're still not swords and wielding them is not called swordsmanship.

@Pirate Queen and @albertwv, besides neither of you considers Mihawk’s WSS title valid, one of you thinks he’s weaker than Shanks and Big Mom and the other thinks he’s Vista level so I have no clue why you’re taking Kaido and WB’s titles seriously.

Mihawk's "World's Strongest Swordsman" uses the exact same nomenclature as Whitebeard's "World's Strongest Man".

So either they're the strongest or Whitebeard is somehow "the world's most skilled man" to suit your point.

This topic is pretty pointless because the lack of feats, but we know there must be a reason why Mihawk is recognized and respected by his title. Most of the characters in the series had never direclty fought Kaido either and I saw no one discussing his strongest creature title, even when he still had no real feats, and that's simply because he's a Yonko.

Being a Yonko is impressive, but not every pirate wants to be a Yonko just like not every pirate wants to find the One Piece. Mihawk just valued the freedom of being a Shichibukai and living at his own pace rather than competing for territories, especially since he's a loner with no crew or friends (which puts him at a huge disadvantage when compared to any Yonko, but has no implications on a 1v1).

The truth is Kaido was again acknowledged as the strongest pirate... it led to sword bois claiming Mihawk was not a pirate. And it blew up from there because it was such an outrageous claim. Thats honestly how it started.

There really isn't an answer that I could think of that'd make sense.

At the end of the day, if Oda didn't want Mihawk to be a pirate, he'd have introduced him as an explorer, like Noland, or a bounty hunter, as Zoro was. There were plenty of moments to single out Mihawk as a special case, but that never happened.

So we are left with the simplest explanation. Mihawk was associated with a group of WG approved pirates who's membership was soley based on the fact that they are strong pirates. Therefore, he himself is also a pirate.

Kaido being the strongest pirate alive currently doesn't take anything away from Mihawk. He's still the WSS. He's still at the top of the pirating world with Kaido, Big Mom, Shanks, BB, and the Admirals.
