Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

I love Doffy as a character. His Bird Cage however is a Plot Device ability. Big enough to cover a island, blocks responder snails, invulnerable, takes a Hr to close, only way to stop it is to K.O the user.......very plot deviceish

I wonder why he didn't make a sell-able weapons made of those strings, he's a broker already. Even someone like Wapol did, though it's not his own idea.

When Smoker was attacking Luffy and had his jutte on Luffy's throat. Hancock kicked him and got mad at him, to which Smoker said or thought, "Kuja haki!!"

That can just be armament haki, for which the Kujas are known for, and it makes sense since what she showed is that she could actually kick him.

She never said that, and I just reread their fight. You must have read a mistranslation. She never mentions her CoC or being unable to control it.

I think Smoker said that because she was able to stop him even tho he's smoke.
I also think outsiders call it "Kuja Haki" just like Wano call it "Ryuo"

I am to biased for Hancock so I can never debate about her. I can't trust myself, so I'd rather avoid it all together. But I do rank her pretty close to Mihawk and Weevil...

Alright, I re-read the scene. I'll comment on Smoker's face after an initial reflection.

Why would mentioning Kuja imply CoC? Back when this all happened, only a handful of individuals were confirmed haki users. Mostly some YC, the Yonko and anything above viceadmirals. It was like 20 people but that's nothing compared to the whole world. Now we know it's a lot more common in the NW.

However, that was without taking into account the Kuja. From that tribe, only Hancock had CoC, but the whole tribe was skilled in CoA, even the fodder warriors from their tribe, numbering more than double the otherwise known number of CoA users in the world.



Now, about Smoker's words and face. In that same page, he gets kicked and he goes "...How did she hit me when I wasn't solid...!!?". So, of course, he was confused, since haki being still a rare thing back then not many people could hurt him physically like that.

They have a small verbal exchange in which Hancock clearly intimidates Smoker and then right before they resume fighting he goes "Is this the Kuja haki...!!?". His face could be interpreted as being under CoC, but it can also just be normal pressure when faced by a Shichibukai who can hurt him, something he was still not used to pre-TS. Going by my previous reasoning on CoA, I think this sentence was just Smoker concluding "so it was CoA" by going with "Kuja haki", since Hancock is a Kuja and CoA is what they're known for.

I do believe Mihawk and Hancock are both above the rest of the Shichibukai, with the third strongest being Doflamingo. Though since, as you know, I really praise Mihawk, I don't know if I would rate her (strength-wise) that high. Perhaps we agree on where she stands if we don't use taka no me as the reference.

I'm weary of him. He must be really strong to chase after marine crews affiliated to his so-called father, but any high ranked YC could do that. Many of the captains that helped Whitebeard, like Squard, would be fodder in front of Cracker, or Doflamingo or Kuma, so it's not really much of a feat by the current standards.

Kizaru did praise Weevil as seemingly being "as strong as his father", but is he really? He doesn't have his OP gura gura no mi, and he seems to be rather unintelligent, unlike Whitebeard. For now, I see Weevil is crazy strong as an overpowered brute but until I see some solid feats from him I believe anyone that has some skill on top of their own strength can take him out one-sidedly. If the manga proves me wrong and he's also crazy skilled I will skyrocket him up the ranking.

For now, I think Hancock with her martial arts and DF can take Weevil out.

Against Kaido she while gain a stone dragon statue to place in her throne room and use as a new throne.
