I didn't say it wasn't impressive, a win is a win. I said the Steelers are playing their worst football right now, stuffing the run against them isn't the feat you think it is because they don't run on anyone. Their receivers have some sort of historic level of drops in the past two weeks as well. Those are unforced errors.
Are you just going to cherry-pick the run game to try and prove a point? Lol
Picking them off the QB twice and sacking him on every other play? Yea....Steelers. It's not like good defense did that. That's exactly what you said and if I was to tell you anything, it'd be to watch that game because it's very clear you didn't.
Disrupting most of the passes are forced errors.
Big Ben played his worst game statistically against the Bills. Dismissing it as a Steelers problem instead of the Bills forcing it is false.......
I don't get iti. I wouldn't say what? I don't really know what analytics has to do with their super bowl losing streak in the early 90s or not getting recognition.

You're the one who brought up how impressive their run defense was in that game? And my point was the Steelers don't run the ball effectively against bad teams. It's not like you guys shut down Travis Henry or something.
That isn't exactly what I said, I never said any of those things...
A dropped pass isn't on the defense really, if it is it's considered a pass defended and the defender gets credited for it. They had way more in the game against Washington, but one of their receivers literally leads the league in drops and had more against the Bills as well. He was benched for it too.
I think given the recent trends, there's more nuance to the outcome of the game than simply giving the Bills full credit for the result. If you want to be a homer and refuse to acknowledge that, then fair enough.
You can continue to be dismissive and condescending for no real reason or you can actually explain what sports analytics has to do with the Bills not getting enough recognition. I'm all ears.

No, I never dismissed the fact that their WR's had dropped passes. But a lot of them weren't. And 2 INT's aren't dropped passes either. Unless you want to argue that all 16 incomplete passes were a result of dropped passes.

Please show me where I said "give the Bills" full credit. I said give them the credit they deserve. I don't see the problem with that. Again, Ben had his worst game against the Bills. Are you going to try and argue coincidence? If you want to bring the game against WFT then go ahead, Big Ben had an average game.
If anything, you trying to play off certain events that didn't even happen just shows your ignorance.

Xi0: Why would the 4 super bowls matter?
Me: Because every sports analyst brings them up when they talk about the Bills and playoff season.
Xi0: How does that matter to sports analytics?
Me: Because it's a stat that keeps being brought up to this day.
Xi0: Why does that matter?
Me: Because the Bills are in the SB contention talk.
Xi0: So what?

Regarding predictions, ravens historically have gotten hot in December and even with decent offense this year it can still get hot. But I don’t see nobody beating chiefs right now
and yeah Hollywood not separating is probably the biggest disappointment but he’s still good, just not tyreek hill. My dream 2021 offense:
New OC with pass heavy background
Miles Boykin switches to TE2 behind Mark andrews
JK as RB1
line should be better but probably better depth needed
Grab a 6’2 50/50 receiver or somehow snag Julio/Allen Robinson
Resign Dez as depth/leader in WR room
Let Willie Snead walk, Duvernay as WR3

It's pretty rich that you bring up cherry-picking behavior when you're the one most guilty of it. The topic is the Steelers currently, the team the Bills played. That was in the first 3 weeks of the season when their offensive attack was far more balanced than it has been the last half of this season. This has been broken down by every analyst the last week or so. Since Week 7 they've struggled to even have 100 yds on the ground as a TEAM (only did it once against Jacksonville). Like I said before, they would be the worst ranked Rushing Offense in the entire league if it weren't for Houston existing.
Okay yeah. they didn't let them beat you on the ground, congrats. Wasn't that expected? They couldn't run it against the Bengals or Cowboys either. Both of those teams some of the worst rushing defenses in the league, with the latter being by far the worst.

Ignorance? I really have no idea what any of this means. The fact is the Bills are playing well, and caught a good team when they were playing their worst. Sometimes teams get lucky, and it's better to be lucky than good. Beating the Steelers is fun, but there's no reason to have a parade over it.
The fact that I'm put in some sort of position to be "pro-Steelers" actually gives me the heebie-jeebies.

What does their record in the Super Bowl 30 years ago have to do with the recognition they do or don't have today?
If someone insists on bringing their SB losing streak up in a sports analytics context in relation to the current team, they might as well be talking about fucking voodoo. It'd be about as relevant.
This Bills team doesn't get the recognition you think they deserve because they haven't accomplished anything yet. Getting to the playoffs under McDermott is obviously better than what Buffalo fans have been getting he last two decades, but they still haven't won anything.
I don't really know how we got into this particular argument, but my initial point is that strategically, it's a far better position to be underestimated and underappreciated in this league. It's bulletin board material. And I'm coming from a position of being a fan of a team that won the SB 4 years into it's existence and still got no play nationally. Did that keep them from having further playoff success and winning against in 2014? No. If some dopey talking head on ESPN starts hyping the Bills up like you think they deserve, does that translate to home playoff games? Or road wins? No, I didn't think so.

Why change it to something pass heavy? Lamar's threat to run is what opens up the pass game for the most part. It's not the WR themselves outplaying people, we have no consistent, stellar route runner on this team.
I don't really know what you see in Boykin that makes you think he should be playing inside. Yes, he's a good blocker for a WR, but he's blocking tiny DBs. I think he needs more snaps, but you don't get that without surehandedness. I don't know how playing at TE would change that with him getting hit every play.
Dobbins already is and will be RB1 IMO. I hope we can keep Gus too, because he's very underrated.
Not sure if Dez is leadership material, but if he can get snaps and catch balls, he can stay.
Snead is our most clutch performer at that position, no way I'd let him walk without a big signing.
@xi0 dez would be back on peanuts and Snead is solid but it’s a dead move to resign him for more than 3 million since durvenay is basically a better Snead. Also if we have OC with pass heavy background we could open up the run with the pass, even as Lamar goes on in his career they’ll always have a good run game just like up in Seattle with Russ did early in his career... truth is Greg Roman has shitty pass concepts that get figured out in one year, we need someone who can scheme people open
I really like watching the chargers passing schemes or even the Texans pass concepts. Our pass concepts are as bad as the jets or even New England this year. Just someone who can scheme people open with better route concepts, Greg Roman failed every where he’s been with that

Scheme can only do so much though. Not going to act like I know the secret sauce they're missing this year, but the personnel isn't all that different at the skill positions. We need more players than just Andrews who can consistently get open and receivers who have a deeper route tree than just running the scramble drill. And I think we want players like Snead who are suicidal enough to catch those balls over the middle, where Lamar is most comfortable throwing it. Of course, if it's a question of price, it's going to be that. But I don't really know what the options will be in the offseason.
I know there's this trend with Roman where his playcalling gets too predictable for opponent defenses, but I don't really know if it's time to blow it all up yet. We need an OC that's willing to run an offense like we currently have, and too many of them have their heads up their own asses about what offense should look like. I think we need to avoid doing what we did to Flacco and changing OCs every other year.
I wish I could say I was surprised about the Bengals loss.. but I'm really not. We have not been a good team since the thanksgiving game and, unfortunately, this is just more evidence of that. Not really sure what the answer is either.

Yeah, I'm sure the narrative will be about JuJu dancing on logos again and not something that's of actual consequence. You guys picked a good year to fall apart at the end though, since only the best record in either conference gets a bye instead of the top 2 and that's probably been out of reach for a while now.
I guess that game against the Colts next week isn't looking too easy either if they lose to a Bengals team that looks like that. Will make Week 17 interesting, I guess. If the Ravens get one of the Wildcard slots I would definitely prefer playing in Cleveland over Pittsburgh though. Though I think it'd be better for our chances if they beat the Colts, in all honesty since we won head-to-head.
To be honest, I don't love our chances against any potential playoff team right now. The defensive injuries and the weak running game puts it all on the passing game. And the play there has been inconsistent at best.
The Browns losing to the Jets is such a "Browns" thing to do. In fact, the Jets going on a little winning streak to completely fuck up their #1 draft pick status is such a "Jets" thing to do.
Browns are frauds just like the steelers. I rather play them over bills first round but i really wanna see Lamar and Mahomes for first time in playoffs
You shouldn't be. I fully expect the Bills to utterly destroy the Phil Rivers and the Colts.
In the AFC the first round feels very predictable with the slight possibly of something going horribly wrong for the favorite. The Bills, Ravens, or Steelers losing would feel like a massive choke job. Ravens least so because I feel like they're actually playing the best team. But a team they really shouldn't lose to if Lemar can throw the football even a little. Because they are one of the worst passing defenses in the league.
