Honestly, no idea. I can't find any reference to there being an issue with this conversation being recorded and given to the WP. Nothing about what actually happened back then suggests the reason NK got bombs is because the US tried diplomatic solutions to their issues. The US and NK made a deal, NK didn't stick to their end of the deal and it was ended. The problem is that the republican party is composed almost entirely of unhinged nutjobs who believe the most inane and stupid things. At least a majority of the party the clintons basically lead a communist new world order satanic child eating cabal. And that's pretty much the start of the utterly stupid impossible things people in this cult believe. Massive underground tunnels under pretty much every major city, trump secretly invading other countries to secretly arrest pedophiles (which include oprah and tom hanks among many others), trump secretly destroying these massive secret tunnels using the army.... Last year there also was a stupid conspiracy theory about trump secretly taking out a massive boat with 50k children that were going to be raped or have their brain juices harvested by liberal elites. There really is no limit to how stupid this is.
The way the right works is that they have scapegoats and people to blame and enjoy blaming everyone else but themselves. Note how Trump continuously blames OBama and Hillary Clinton, as well as Dems, even when he's the one who fucks up, or his party. Republicans don't like the Clintons and hate Hillary and Obama the most as they're not white males.
I think they need more youth joining the party. Dan Crenshaw is pretty good, articulate and has a strong conservative base. He also spoke against Trump after the election results were declared so even though i disagree with him politically, i see him as a few of the republicans who put principles ahead of politics.
We wouldn't expect anything less than that from Trump. He's the worst and a lot of republicans will look back and think of how ridiculous they were in supporting him. Republicans are distancing themselves slowly.
