Obviously Phantom Seer was canceled after the duo had an affair with the Chief Editor's wife. Come on, the signs are all over the place.
But in all srsness, internal strife or health problems are pretty likely. It was a weird situation to end a successful series with potential to grow after all.
Also, RIP Build King, you won't be missed. Same for CaD later, when it finally gets yeeted.
I honestly think that Shimabukuro should consider moving into seinen mags that primarily cater to an older, ideally nostalgic audience like Grand Jump. I know that the man had two hits but the first one was ages ago and even Toriko is 5~ years and lost a lot of steam over time. Stubbornly clinging to early 90s tropes and artstyle just won't cut it in the modern WSJ competition.
Super happy if unsurprised with Sakamoto doing well.
I do fear for the survival of the excellent Nine Dragons Ball Parade. Easily the best new sports manga in years and somehow got me interested in Baseball, but the WSJ lineup looks very packed now, with Elusive Samurai being a surefire success, Witch Watch (despite being boring as drying paint) being popular in Japan and at least one of the newcomers having a lot of preemptive hype. Not much safety-fodder anymore.
Hopefully NDBP's writing quality translates into popularity and also gets the staff on its side, considering the mag needs a decent sports series again.
