Not saying there's been nothing that looks good or interesting, but nothing especially mindblowing either, besides maybe Elden Ring. No surprises, nothing...

I'm an Arkane fanboy, so seeing Deathloop getting delayed for so long and then teasing Redfall with no gameplay and we're supposed to believe it's coming out next year? What. Not to mention two co-op games in a row when their bread and butter has been single-player immersive sims. Idk.

And where the hell is VtMB:2? They've shown like 2 or 3 games in that universe, but not the game everyone has been anticipating, lol

i got bored watching the trailer of redfall, a part of it could be attributed to shooters fatigue but that trailer was truly boring. not excited or whatsover for that game. as for the others new IP, i don't see the point since they pretty much didnt show anything.

Bloodlines 2 might be vaperware at this point. Paradox essentially fired Hardsuit labs and gave it to a whole different studio. Nobody knows which one. Tentative release date is 2022.

But who knows at this point.

I knew it had a ton of development issues, but it's crazy that it was up for pre-order at some point despite that...

Yup and they haven't canceled those yet. I know because I have one on steam. I'm mainly just keep it to see if Paradox cancels it which I would take to mean that they'd pulled the plug for good.

What's crazy is that we still somehow don't even know anything about what went wrong. It's not hard to imagine some scenarios where a team that had previously worked on a free to play shooter had trouble doing this sort of project but nobody has said a word about whatever really happened.

From Paradox? I know Steam refund exists, but I figured with this level of turmoil they'd have to have a refund policy for other storefronts or something.

Meh, not really. If the game comes out I'm going to play it if only to see what it ends up being. If it doesn't it will get auto-refunded when they take it off the steam store. So sort of all the same. Not to mention if they go epic exclusive or something like that, there would be benefits there.

And while I'm sure I'd know if they release it. But I wouldn't necessarily notice if they quietly cancelled it. Which I feel like is not off the table at this point. Even though they've spent a lot of money on this thing.

I was about to say in this thread that the most exciting annoucment for this E3 for me might have ended up being Orcs Must Die 3. But then I looked it up only to discover it came out last year as a Stadia exclusive. I'm a big fan of those games and I had no clue that game even existed.

Love Avellone's work, not sure about him as a person or a reliable narrator but it seems like unlike Dying Light 2, VTMB2 looks completely cursed.

One day we're going to find out what happened with that project and it's going to be fascinating.

i don't know, im only in chapter 6 even tho i have more than 25h of game ( due to the management and karaoke mini games ).

i didn't like Ichiban at the beginning ( he was very annoying with the arakawa family)

In fairness he isn't the most ambitious or smart guy. But he goes to jail for his father figure. He's sort of loyal to a fault but that's Ichiban for you. The thing I really like about him is he brings such sincerity to everything he does. Whether it's running around the streets as a bum or yakuza stuff or anything. Which was sort of true of Kiryu as well. But Ichiban's got a lot more style.

yeah i get what you saying but that's actually the flaw in his character. his character and persona ain't realistic. kiryu is more down to earth and aware of the reality of the yakuza world. Ichi grew up with the yakuza but it's like he pretend he's clueless about the yakuza world and always brag about what a "yakuza should be". Even after years in jail. I feel like they tried to make Ichi like characters you find from shounen rather than what a character from the real world would be. i don't know if you get what i mean. Kiryu is more real as a character. Overall i like ichi, except the arakawa family part.

Kiryu being more "real" I definitely disagree with. There is nothing real about Kiryu. The Yakuza games have their own style but that style is very cartoony. Dark and gritty at times, but cartoony. Which is party of it's appeal. The wacky fun mixed with the darker storytelling.

What he does do though is fit into the yakuza mythos better than Ichiban. Ichiban is fun because he doesn't really fit anywhere. Like the explanation for the turn based mechanics is that Ichiban loves dragon quest so that's how he sees the world. I loved that. He very much would like his story to be a heroic journey like those games. Things don't always play out that way because the story is every bit as dark as the Yakuza games before it. We just get to see it through Ichban's delusion.

The one critisim I have about Like A Dragon. Is that it gets grindy as hell. Primarily because of some late game boss fights that weren't balanced properly. One in particular was just a whole lot of bullshit.
