To me, Sanji pre-time skip is a victim of his creator, just like Goku in Dragon Ball Super. Sure, he was a simp from day zero, however that used to be shown in a much more toned down and even subtle way. It was just a gimmick, not the character's personality. Pre-time skip, Sanji's overall mannerism used to be elegant and he was overall pretty cool towards his bros (even zoro!). He used to be the brains of his crew in dire situations, often thinking outside the box and working in the shadows to save his friends from major threats. I miss this aspect of his character. Of course, he was still annoying with his fawning over women and his stupid iron rule to never-fight-females-no-matter-what, but his overall positive traits easily made up for this, at least to me. He used to be one of my fave.

Then after the time-skip, Oda went batshit crazy on fully hating his own character (I swear I've never seen this level of contempt and disrespect from an author before lol): turns him into a full cringy pervert to the point he becomes a liability to his crew, is a total asshole to his male crewmates 90% of the time, contributes next to nothing to the plot nor conversations...Moreover, his overall fighting record was very poor, taking L's left and right. Terrible performance from Sanji. Yet despite this, he still acts as if he's superior to other males while overly simping to females (friend or foe), so much that you just want to punch the screen. It truly hurts my heart when I remember how he used to be and see what he became now, and that's what annoys me most. So, EFF you Oda.

Here are some of Sanji's most devastatingly abysmal moments:

1) We reach the arc of the manga where Sanji is supposed to shine and get some prime development. We were all hyped (yes, I don't care who you are, if you were a One piece fan at that time, you were hyped!). Unfortunately, the plot was not yet in Sanji's favor as he took some serious beatings (both physical and emotional), he got cornered pretty bad by unfortunate events that he became a damsel in distress, crying to Luffy for help. Now this was supposed to be sad, and imo it actually was. Then it looked like sanji finally got it together. At this point the hype was getting back up, Sanji was finally gonna get his moment, as Oda promised! and things were indeed starting to look good, then right at the climax of the arc where Sanji can reclaim his previous glory, he leaves his crewmates in the middle of battle and goes to bake a fucking wedding cake to feed the delusional enemy that caused him and his friends all the freaking misery in the world because sHe WaS dYiNg FrOm HeR cAkE cRaViNgS and our poor little cook boy just can't leave someone in hunger, aaawww...FUCK THAT! and to put salt into injury, his actions unnecessarily put his crew in even more danger. And that was it. What a waste of chapters and screentime that was...

2) Then comes the icing on the cake (no pun intended): remember his stupid rule on never hitting a woman? oh boy you're gonna love this: in the following arc he fell to a lame trap set by some female enemies (due to his stupid cringy simping) and gets captured; of course, the guy is more than capable of freeing himself but chooses not to so that he would not have to lay a hand on all the enemy women surrounding him. Keep in mind that this is during the raid of the enemy base, where the fate of an entire country depends on our main characters' success, meaning he, Sanji, cannot afford to fool around and let the enemy do as they please just to protect his stupid code of honor. So as our idiot baker is unnecessarily taking a beating from these women while his friends are fighting for their lives, he starts (pathetically) calling out for help from one of his crewmates to get him out of this and fight the women in his stead. And guess who he chooses? Nico Robin! the one crewmate that every dangerous organization in the world is looking to abduct! He wants her to clean up his mess. Most pathetic shit ever, he calls a crewmate who is weaker than him and puts them in danger for extremely stupid reasons, at the risk of sabotaging their life and the entire operation (and this has nothing to do with the fact that Robin is a woman, my reaction would've been the same had he called out for Brook, Usopp or Chopper).
And guess how Oda embellishes this shit?? A chapter later he makes Robin say that "Sanji called me here cuz he trusts in my abilities blablabla that makes him really chivalrous and cool, and the opposite of misogynistic <3". Nice try Oda, a blind man could see how fucked up this is...but of course there will always be one or two FANS that love and hype up this shit you pretty much ruined a character with huge potential for no reason. Like every time there are tons of opportunities to make Sanji do something cool, but no, Oda picks the shittiest choice that makes our blonde baker look more and more like a total bitch.

I had to get it out of my system.
