Breaks for mangaka aren't usually time off at work. He's definitely working those weeks. If anything it's probably that he's working a little less than normal. His life set up is kind of fucked. Sleeps like 4 hours a day, and lives separately from his family so he can work on OP. I think the increased breaks are because he's not a spring chicken anymore. I'm getting closer to 40 and it's getting increasingly more difficult to do things like pull all nighters and work 13 hour days.

People thinking Oda has 5 weeks rest just because the magazine isn't coming out. That's just publishing mate. When it comes out it's double publication meaning it has more content in the magazine itself, not necessarily more chapters.

52 weeks in a year x 2 days off a week = 104 days off. That is pretty much standard workweek without counting it as overtime so not sure why that's a problem. Like are you working 6 day weeks or something...

While I don’t like it, this is true. Not to mention the content that don’t make it to the manga. It’s a lot more work than it seems
That being said I really miss the old days of anime of bleach, Onepiece, Naruto, and even fairy tail where they dropped 2 chapters in one go or have 10+ extra pages (extended chapters). Granted he was a lot younger but I do miss those days.

Double or longer chapters for one piece are rare and far in between. For the others sometimes it happened when the author was late previously. It's been a while since I've seen a double chapter drop the same week.

I could be wrong, but a double issue doesn't mean more content. It just means one issue for two weeks. He'll almost definitely be working either way. Mangaka are worked to death, which is why you see so many take breaks for their health!

It was common when the big 3 was doing it. Naruto, bleach and Onepiece. He also didn’t take nearly as many breaks. Fairy tail used to do it too. Actually fairy tail did it the most I believe.
I doubt we will get that though but still. I miss it lol
