Very doubtful that a Kagurabachi anime would just get casually leaked through a random article in a Japanese website, if that had already a studio and etc we would have heard something from big leakers accountd, the also downplay of other series is weird, Kindergarten Wars is one of the most read series on Plus with over 1 million views per chapter and good physical sales lol

Exactly, I remember when they released the first few volumes one per month. They stayed in the top 500 Shoseki for multiple months!

I wonder if this position will hold true for the double issues as well, to me it seems like

OP tier - One Piece
1st tier - Sakamoto Days, Akane-banashi, Kagurabachi, Blue Box (the signature series)
2nd tier - Nue, Undead, Witch Watch, Elusive Samurai, Roboco, Yozakura (the other mainstays)
3rd tier - Hakutaku, Chojo, Ichi, Kill Blue, Himaten, Syd Craft, Astro, Shinobigoto, Kiyoshi (all the series less than a year old... and Kill Blue)

Kill Blue being buried in the small zone alongside all the new manga is rather telling. They've still been giving some promotion recenty but if they're considering it to be in an equal spot to all the yet to solidify newbies, that shows they don't view its position as a very safe one (compare it to Gakuro right in front).

Good news if true. Cygames has done a very good adaptation with Uma Musume (the animation of the movie was pretty good for what I have heard), and they are releasing two big titles in 2025 (Uma Musume Cinderella Gray, and their first major not-Uma Musume hit: the Summer Hikaru died).

Cygames is also responsible Zombieland Saga, Akiba Maid War and Bang Brave Bang Bravern, all of which are complete shitposts of a madman with too much money. I know they animated Manaria Friends and Princess Connect too, which have great animation and attention to detail. I mean, look at Grea from Manaria Friends and how her clothes always have a back opening for her wings to protrude. They pay so much attention to little bits like that. And this clip here where some normal things involving a tail look weirdly erotic...

And yet by now you should know that Oda in the months in which Jump makes a break (i.e. those with double issues) still takes his classic break because the Jump bosses want One Piece to be in the double issue to stick Luffy on the cover.

I am CANCELLING Syd Craft! How DARE the mangaka reveal that his pure heroine was *gasp* seeing other men?! Four or five of them?! That whoooooorrrrrrreeeeee! I have burned all my copies of Syd Craft! Such betrayal!

Anyway.

Spoiler: Spoilered for amateur detectives in the thread

I don't know how well the integration of comedy and mystery works for Syd Craft, but I gotta give 22i some props on his effort. In that panel up there, you can clearly see the calluses on her hand, which prove vital in the solution to the mystery later on. It's a detail that's there, but easy to miss because the panel right above it has a bae's cleavage shoved directly into your face. And you really don't pay attention to it since it's being laced with a gag.

The interesting is, every deduction Syd has made in this chapter was information that was already shown and drawn, he pulled nothing out of his ass. Amelia Watson always calling him Syd Craft? Yes indeed, I even checked the previous two chapters, she always goes for his full name. The closet that Petty stashed Amelia Watson in? Drawn behind her when she whacked her with a broom. Being the only one who opened it? Shown via a panicky gag that you'd laugh at and not really think about. Sleeping pills? Mentioned offhandedly by the old man. I was halfway expecting Syd to pull a really bullshit reasoning when she was crying, like, "Amelia Watson wouldn't be vulnerable around me! She's too proud for that!" But no. He solved the case with fair deduction. It's completely fair play whodunnit. There is nothing Syd has deduced that the reader could not have deduced based on the information presented.

Right now, it's still introductory phases, but I'm kinda itching to see what a full blown whodunnit would be like in the manga when this much detail and attention is paid to in the sequences leading up to the reveal. What we got so far are only basic mysteries to ease you in. I wonder how serious 22i really is about doing detective stories and whether he can hold it up on the weeklies. Even Aoyama Gosho takes lots of breaks to find inspiration for cases as he works along. Worse come to worse, pad out time with a beach episode arc while you write your mystery on the side. And that kinda feels in character for the kind of manga this is.

It's fun to read it as a gag manga for the first reading and just laugh along. It's even more interesting to read it as a mystery manga on the second reading and try to catch as many details as you can leading up to Syd's deduction. Somehow, these elements don't completely detract from one another and are seamlessly integrated. At least for this chapter. I'm impressed.

Yeah, I'm enjoying Syd Craft. Baby's first detective manga. A lot more fun than it is on a surface level...

Forgot to reply to this, but yeah, 22i has so far been quite brilliant in executing the mystery aspect of the series. His use of misdirection is quite impressive. I doubt the mysteries will ever be as complex as Detective Conan, but for what it’s worth, it’s doing a competent job on that front.

I wonder how much of this is connected to 22i’s experience, or Saito’s new leadership being that the new editorial department are being more patient in letting series cook a little longer in the oven.

I had a feeling Kagurabachi would get an early anime announcement but it's getting teased even earlier than I expected LOL. Not surprised, it's probably the only manga in the magazine right now other than OP, BB, and SK that has actual motion so you know Jump is hoping it blows up to mega-hit status. None of the other manga have that potential other than the most recent ones where it's too early to say like Icchi

lol shouldnt be necessary to point it out but anime adaptations are decided waaay before they get publicly announced, some mangas even get a anime with the 1st volume like Fire Force, so there's no way Akane doesnt have a anime in production after 3 years, they just didnt announced yet, neither Kagurabachi until Jump themselves announce it.

gotta also point out bravern is being voted anime of the year in some japanese poll! cygames is a very good choice for a studio and hikaru's trailer was super good (another great example of a gay manga btw). if they do kagurabachi with the same style/sakuga talent they've been giving any of these shows it's an easy top anime contender for sure
