You realise yet again how the times and Jump sales changed when Nurarihyon no Mago #5 outsold Kagurabachi #5 in just 18 days:

Nurarihyon no Mago #5 (148,400) - 18 Days
Kagurabachi #5 (140,599) - 26 Days

And yet one was mostly ranked in the lower middle to bottom of the ToC and placed in the back of the group covers while the other is already pushed as "Big 4" of the magazine and the potential "next big thing" :grin

Same goes for Kuroko that at vol 6 was selling better than than Kgb but treated as a lower tier series in the magazine like NuraMago.

We all know the manga market has weakened a lot compared to the past (except the Kimetsu-JJK bubble that was caused by the COVID lockdowns between other things), so why is necessary to throw shit to Kagurabachi? Maybe if Kagurabachi was serialized in 2010 it would be selling more than 300k since the situation of the manga market was different and better to the current one. And if you make a criticism of Kagurabachi because its "140k perfomance is so weak compared to the past", in what position are practically all the other series from current Jump?

And if you are making a criticism of Kagurabachi "big 4 position", let me remind you that it's having a better perfomance than the other two manga in that "big 4" when they were in volume 5 (heck, Sakamoto still hasn't reached 140k, probably next month with the anime though).

PS: Also: "Kuroko and Nura weren't in the top of WSJ, Kagurabachi is".

Let's see what Kuroko and Nura had over it in early 2010 in sales: One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Gintama, Toriko, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, D.Gray-man, I think To Love-Ru, Bakuman and Kochikame sold more too in that moment.
Let's see what Kagurabachi has clearly over it right now in sales: One Piece, Blue Box (with a small advantage of only 3K with anime season 1 airing).

Totally different situations.

That is if the anime is successful, after all Netflix will release all the episodes of Sakamoto Day at once.

Yozakura also didn't reach the sales of Nurarihyon nomago, and that doesn't mean you should compare Yozakura to manga from the past. Kagurabachi managed to be successful, regardless of the criticism, so accept it.

I don't think that was a criticism.

But a simple observation.

Netflix hasn't been doing that for a while so I'm hopeful that won't be the case

A fact said in a VERY ironic way, by the way.

Sometimes, I question what your intentions are. Like i get that this is a simple observation but at the same time, the way you craft your responses are very provoking and the emoji you used are not helping your case.

It's a fact not correctly taken because it doesn't take in account important things like the big decrease the manga market has had compared to early 2010s or how Shonen Jump right now has only 1 megahit compared with 2010 having at least 6 megahits.

Oi, don't lump the fans with the trash. JJK fans are mocking that AI generated garbage 😂

Regardless of how one feel about the manga, "writing" an alternate version through AI is an insult lol

The issue is it's not so simple an observation. It completely neglects to take digital sales into account. Given we do not have access to digital sales, it makes it a bit murkier and far less objective than he's presenting.
I do not for a second believe Jump's situation is as dour as some want it to appear.
We do have evidence to suggest that a good bulk of Jump readers come from digital sales and readership. Plus like, it's just common sense. Manga and anime are A LOT more popular/mainstream than they were a decade ago. Kids must be reading somewhere. Most kids nowadays do not read physical books, yet they almost all have a smartphone in their pocket, and a computer/tablet at home.

"Kagurabachi fans trying to not get easily pressed over anything Challenge - IMPOSSIBLE!" :grin

The point of my comparison is about how we usually pay so much attention on how new series have to sell like "10k/15k" in order to survive and show potential and many look at that at the signs of how "Jump declined over the years" but the thing is that we can literally look at how a series today are considered a new flagship by selling less than what "mid lower to bottom" tier Jump series used to sell like 10+ years ago, it's not a criticism at all since any person that pays even a small attention to my posts know that i don't care about at all "how Jump manga don't use to sell like back in the day", is just a fun trivia post to point it out how the industry as a whole changed, some of you still hasnt change the "underdog" mentality over Kagurabachi lol

Not a perfect comparison, but this is like saying that movie sales have declined over the years because blu-ray sales are basically non-existent.
It's ignoring the fact that the medium is going through a technological shift.
The industry changed, but it hasn't collapsed. It's just shifted to consumption through primarily digital means.

And to do that you don't need to ironically laugh at Kagurabachi and treat is as something inflated that would have failed in another period like you did. As I said earlier, maybe Kagurabachi in 2010 would have been in D.Grayman and Reborn tier in sales. It's impossible to know but you addressed the topic in a wrong way.

Also your reaction with the first phrase of this quote also doesn't help with that image you are giving.

And the fixtation of Kagurabachi is actually odd. For that message you wanted to portray for example, Blue Box would have actually been a better example because precisely the anime is airing?

It doesn't need to perfect, the fact still that Kagurabachi sales in general are what Jump series that were considered "mid to lower tiers" used to sell but since the industry and Jump changed a lot, simple.

But if digital sales were taken into account, it very likely would make those numbers seem a lot less paltry and representative of a "higher tier". It's just a shame those numbers aren't provided.

Yes and that also goes for the new series, we only see the 10k/15k they do physically but we have no idea how much it sold digitally.

We all know the manga market has weakened a lot compared to the past (except the Kimetsu-JJK bubble that was caused by the COVID lockdowns between other things), so why is necessary to throw shit to Kagurabachi? No way you really took offense to Shinkuki comparing Jump 10+ years ago to now, he just showcasing how different the manga industry is now compared to that time.

You really need to understand that not everything is "to throw shit to Kagurabachi" the fact that you are one of the oldest here surprised me the most by your reaction, is not that serious lol

Is ok Cerclox, we all here know your disdain to Kagurabachi and how you are going to quickly support anyone criticising the series. After all you are the only one who had actually reacted like that at the convo.

Instead, I recommend you to slowly read the posts Stivie, WyldViolet and me have been doing and properly understand the topic at hand we are discussing :verily

....I swear I remember him liking the series? Shinuki is right in this case, the print industry has declined, it's not just about Kagurabachi being a pillar of Jump, it's pretty much an Industry Pillar. Like the only right statement is that Shinuki failed to take into account digital, but other than that, way to much overreaction over here.

You take any slight towards Kagurabachi way to seriously.
