....I swear I remember him liking the series? Shinuki is right in this case, the print industry has declined, it's not just about Kagurabachi being a pillar of Jump, it's pretty much an Industry Pillar.

You take any slight towards Kagurabachi way to seriously.
Which is precisely what I actually explained in my post. The thing is that the way to explain it could have been better phrased and supported.

We all know the manga market has weakened a lot compared to the past (except the Kimetsu-JJK bubble that was caused by the COVID lockdowns between other things), so why is necessary to throw shit to Kagurabachi? Maybe if Kagurabachi was serialized in 2010 it would be selling more than 300k since the situation of the manga market was different and better to the current one. And if you make a criticism of Kagurabachi because its "140k perfomance is so weak compared to the past", in what position are practically all the other series from current Jump?

The fact that some more people has had the same impressions as me and you can only think on me probably because in the past months I noticed your different reactions regarding sales of one or other series is saying it all to me too lmao 😂

Let's clear it again, what was wrong wasn't the message but the wrapping

And to do that you don't need to ironically laugh at Kagurabachi and treat is as something inflated that would have failed in another period like you did. As I said earlier, maybe Kagurabachi in 2010 would have been in D.Grayman and Reborn tier in sales. It's impossible to know but you addressed the topic in a wrong way.

Yeah, better way to subtly tell me you don't care about other people but since it's me, let's open hate :verily Must be hard for you, being a sucker leech all the time :teehee

And let's cut here because thread is becoming throwfest. I'm blocking that mindless Idiotx and I recommend that guy to block me too, and end of the story.

Imagine if i would start getting this pressed and derail the thread everytime some users do actual negative comments/comparisons towards Nue, Astro or other series that i like? :grin

But well, back on topic please, i made the comment as a observation about the Jump and the industry current phase, feel free to talk about it, not to keep derailing the thread with personal accusations :super

Yozakura surpassing 40k copies within a month in the weekly Shoseki :beer

It outsold the last 2 WW volumes:

Yozakura Family #27 (4,388 / 41,383) - 26 Days
Witch Watch #18 (2,300 / 40,741) - 26 Days
Witch Watch #19 (2,451 / 37,580) - 24 Days
Why even end YozaFam at this point. ❤

I use KB for Kill Blue and KGB or Bachi for Kagurabachi. I actually use Bachi way more than KGB, dunno why

It's a fact not correctly taken because it doesn't take in account important things like the big decrease the manga market has had compared to early 2010s or how Shonen Jump right now has only 1 megahit compared with 2010 having at least 6 megahits.
but i think that was the point, how the magazine is totally different from before, while KGB being the next big hit is selling the same amount of a manga that was 3rd row in 2010's

I don't think the take itself is a criticism of any sort, I know that KGB does get hate on the internet, because i see them once in a while, but to me this is definitely not one of them, at least for me

tbh, theres a lot of actual negative comments i see to astro here, and I think thats okay... if people don't like it there's nothing I can do about it

Maybe because I'm just too used to being a boruto fan on the internet, so this type of stuff doesn't actually hurt lmao :\m/

Yep, that was better explained later and how you address it here is perfectly understandable.

It makes also me think about the future of Jump and how Shueisha maybe should share more the digital numbers rather than just physical.

Time always changes. Currently successful manga may not be as much as a success 10 years ago and vice versa. So I think it's quite pointless to try to compare from the start

not to mention the change in media and technology

I think (probably) Ohba's "I have no idea what manga will become in the next 10 years" sums it pretty well

I really hope one piece never ends tbh, because I'm already seeing so many comments on twitter saying that once one piece is done the magazine will be over...

OP fans being OP fans

I don't think the magazine will die once mid piece is over

it will definitely change, but it won't end as people assume

Well, Jump is going to take a very major blow when OP ends to the point it can actually fall to the numbers Magazine and Sunday are doing

It's a thing I commented the other day, about how Jump has lost in these years a lot of fans who were there for JJK, MHA, Kimetsu, Haikyu etc and how a lot of the mainstream consumer media only knows One Piece from the current roster and aren't interested at all in any of the other 19 titles

The magazine won't end. It survived Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk ending with One Piece starting the following year, but the major blow is still going to happen, and it will depend on luck if Jump manages to find another big hitter soon or not

There's always something new once something old ends, a new generation of good manga always appears. We're seeing this with KGB right now, I really hope a manga that can sell more than one piece ever did appears

I really wanna see something like that happening

Putting this question here because I edited and probably you didn't see this question in the previous post:

For example, maybe I'm wrong here but I'm asking you since you're likely going to know this: is the Boruto fanbase in general interested in Jump or its series, or did they stop caring about it when Boruto got transferred to V-Jump?

More or less is how I see current Jump is portrayed actually. The JJK fans don't care about Jump or its series. Same for MHA, Haikyuu fans, etc. One Piece fans tend to only care about One Piece which is the only major relevant series right now. I can be wrong, of course. And I actually want to see if Sakamoto Days grows this next month a mainstream fanbase like Dandadan did

And well, we won't have the answer about what will happen after OP ends and if a major manga gets born after it until 2036 so for the moment we don't have to worry about that. What's important now is to re-generate that major +200k tier that had like 5-6 series 4 years ago but right now is actually dead. Right now only Kagurabachi and Sakamoto have that potential.

Even so, the manga market has changed so getting +200k currently is way way way harder than in 2019, even considering digital for what I know.

I’m not a very common data point, but I started as just a One Piece reader (and MHA/JJK/BC anime watcher) and at some point Kaiju no. 8 and Kagurabachi acted as gateway drugs for me to get into all the other Jumps series. I also have a friend who, while mainly a One Piece and older series fan, does keep up with Sakamoto Days and a little bit with Kagurabachi. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else in person that reads other newer Jump series though, outside of people who I directly caused to read some of them, like my brother.
