For example, maybe I'm wrong here but I'm asking you since you're likely going to know this: is the Boruto fanbase in general interested in Jump or its series, or did they stop caring about it when Boruto got transferred to V-Jump?
Yep. And well, majority of us are into Jump because we discovered the series we like share a same magazine and then Dragon Ball and other stuff belonged in the magazine. I guess for the short future it's a matter of see what Sakamoto and Kagurabachi anime do.
And about the regeneration of the 200K tier, I said only Kagurabachi and Sakamoto have the potential to reach it, but there is also Ruri Dragon. What happened to Shindo has actually been very unlucky for the magazine, but well, Shindo has ended being in a very good position (Ruri is in a very safe spot selling +140k with Shindo getting the breaks he needs, something that wouldn't have happened if he stayed in Jump), and that's the most important result actually.
I’m not a very common data point, but I started as just a One Piece reader (and MHA/JJK/BC anime watcher) and at some point Kaiju no. 8 and Kagurabachi acted as gateway drugs for me to get into all the other Jumps series. I also have a friend who, while mainly a One Piece and older series fan, does keep up with Sakamoto Days and a little bit with Kagurabachi. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else in person that reads other newer Jump series though, outside of people who I directly caused to read some of them, like my brother.
Yes, more or less this. This Jump doesn't have enough attractiveness for now for the average reader. Last decade Jump was pretty attractive for them though but this current Jump still feels very minor. My main hope right now is in Ichi's growth.
But well, back on topic please, i made the comment as a observation about the Jump and the industry current phase, feel free to talk about it, not to keep derailing the thread with personal accusations
For me I already made my point when I brought it up with the groups cover IMG, so I will just end up repeating myself. BUT I believe jump is prepping for bigger things and there will be a huge change this year than what normally happends. They cant keep going like this
There's always something new once something old ends, a new generation of good manga always appears. We're seeing this with KGB right now, I really hope a manga that can sell more than one piece ever did appears

between his recent recommendations (Ichi and KGB) and Jump Next Gen Battle Cup with Tabata, Gege and Kubo
Horikoshi must really really want a new big battle manga in WSJ
It's a thing I commented the other day, about how Jump has lost in these years a lot of fans who were there for JJK, MHA, Kimetsu, Haikyu etc and how a lot of the mainstream consumer media only knows One Piece from the current roster and aren't interested at all in any of the other 19 titles
But it's impossible to compare japanese readers with mainstream western fans, these are two different cases. Ruri Dragon is a major title for the japanese manga market and is likely to be a big anime hit there, but it probably won't have a similar success in the west.
Sales numbers went down in Japan, but it may be more related to digital growth or a change in habits such as more people reading manga online, while western readers may just have no interest in whatever is popular in Japan now and moving on.
I think I will write some thoughts about the current line up. WARNING! Some subjective opinions and probably unpopular takes incoming, lol. Everything below isn't some kind of absolute truth - just my humble opinion.
One Piece: The juggernaut and the series I follow the longest (I think since the later half of Impel Down arc). It was the last one of Big Three I checked - simply because the translation into my native language was odd (like different groups translated whatever they liked, there were a lot of chapters missing, sometimes entire arcs - like Skypeia was skipped altogether). I started to read it once I was more confident in my English skills, reading missing parts in English. What is my opinion about it? I applaud Oda for the world he created, because it actually feels like the one fun to explore. It's something you need for adventure genre to work. However, I won't deny that the current complication for One Piece is its enormous cast. That's why we have chapters with scenes jumps and countless plotlines. By this point it's really difficult to read OP weekly while keeping all those threads in mind and drawing mental charts (it's not only OP problem though). However, it reads way better when you read entire arc - which I do.
Yozakura: Like most other series here, it's something I follow since the very beginning. The underdog I am rooting for. I totally adored Reborn and Yozafam is something that has the most Reborn vibes I have ever read (including episodic comedy beginning). No wonder that Shinuki likes it too. I'll say that introducing kids of the main characters amid manga (not in the last chapter like usual) and making them relevant isn't something you usually see (I believe only Dragonball pulled that stunt before), but I'm grateful for that plot progression.
Undead Unluck: I plan to read it once it ends. When it began, I was recovering after SA incident, and as everyone knew the first chapter was controversial enough, hence I put it on hold. However, I've heard that it's a quality manga, so I'm looking forward to binge-reading it.
Roboco: Well, I read a chapter here and there, but it's not a genre I enjoy, so I don't follow it. The parody covers are superb though, I hope that the author will continue making those.
Sakamoto days: I'll say this one is my fave nowadays. I just love its action and character dynamics, though I wish Lu wasn't sidelined that much. My other complaint is that some interesting characters are introduced and then dissapear.
Elusive samurai: Dropped this one. I'm a big fan of historical fiction, so I was really excited to read something like that, especially from Matsui. Alas, anachronisms killed it for me. The last nail in the coffin was the guy with French flag on his face. Dumb reason to drop? Yes, I agree, but it's something that irked me too much.
Witch Watch: Dropped as well. Nothing against it, it just hadn't clicked with me. I'm not complectionist, so if I don't enjoy the series, I just drop it.
Blue Box: Same as above, in this case it unfortunately belongs to both genres which are harder sell for me - sports and romance.
Akanebanashi: Surprisingly, one of the works I'm most hyped about despite belonging to the genre I usually don't check. It just captured me from the first chapter and never let's me go. I'll say that says a lot about author who manages to capture someone who isn't his target audience. If anything Akanebanashi is constantly among the chapters I enjoy the most each week. The art is superb too
Kill Blue: It's complicated. I really like many moments and the premise of a middle-aged man enjoying school life is neat. I have three neatpicks that prevent me from fully enjoying it (like I cannot simply turn off my brain and start to overanalyze it instead). Ironically, they are interconnected. The first one is that Ogami's daughter has a presence of a standard lamp - she exists. So many opportunities to put her into the plot, to have a plotline of Ogami reconnecting with her - and still nope. That's why Ogami's line that Noren is like a daughter to him doesn't work for me. At all. We haven't seen him caring enough about his actual daughter to make it believable. The second issue is Ogami and Noren relationship. I pray it will never go in that direction. Even if Noren ends up another de-aged adult. Just no, let them be friends. And the third one is too much Conan inspiration when it comes to deaging. Why couldn't it be just something else?
Nue: I'll admit I had a phase when I read a lot of battle harems, including LN adaptations. I've also read a lot of VNs. Nue shares a lot of similarities with those. I kinda enjoy it, though it's a bit of shame that we didn't get more Zenno, lol. Jokes aside, Gakuro is quite weak as a character. He's getting better lately, so I guess the author is aware. The lattest girl doesn't click with me so much that I cannot even remember her name. She also doesn't bring much into dynamics, IMHO, unlike Suo, Shiroha and even Shitotsu (while most people dislike her, I find her enjoyable).
Kagurabachi: I feel that it's the manga with the highest chances to go truly mainstream. It has that cool esthetic, it's edgy and I feel it's something that JJK and Bleach fans will appreciate. I find it rather enjoyable, even though it isn't always in my top chapters of the week (I like later chapters more though). It's one of the stories where I like side cast way more than protagonist, hence later chapters work better for me as we finally have some established sidecast. My only fear is that in KGB you can never be sure that the cool side character won't be killed soon. Happened severaltimes already, lol. And Shiba's hairline still bothers me.
Chojo: Dropped. Not my type of humor. Cannot say much here.
Astro: I like it more when it doesn't try to by a Jump manga guidebook. You cannot have lighter manga about yakuza, IMHO, just embrass darker topics. It could be so much better without those restraints. Though, I think I know why it is like that.
Kiyoshi: I like it, but honestly it shows that the author is novice. I hope they will find their identity because it has been messy and disconnected many times. Still, I genuinely root for it.
Himaten: Dropped as well. Like I said, romance is harder sell for me and here I just didn't get any hook.
Ichi: I love this one. I'm happy for Usazaki as she deserves the best and I like Iruma manga. That's the best match for me. I hope it will lean more into exploration aspect (ala Toriko) and not only battles. I know that the shark chapters are disliked, but I would rather see some unorthodox ways to capture magiks instead of just battles. We need a quality adventure manga as well.
Shinobi: another newbie I enjoy. The cast is really fun and honestly bodyguard/protected person romance angle will work perfectly here. Though, I hope that the author will spice his formula a bit because ninja of the week will get old fast.
Hakutaku: Sometimes I follow instaflops until the bitter end to see how much trainwreck it can get. Alas, this one is not one of those cases. It's not bad, it's boring. I also dislike the way it dealt with bullying in the first chapter.
Syd Craft: Reading a lot ofmysteries spoiled me, because mysteries here are too obvious. But well, it isn't pure mystery work, it also has comedy and romance, so... I'll probably follow it for some time
Lol, I like OP as adventure first, and KGB isn't among my faves for now, sorry.
For action I liked MHA, Reborn and Nuramago. Naruto used to make me really hyped, but that's probably because it was my first manga.
Not from main Jump, but my current fave is Dandadan - and I have been following it since 8th chapter, so I didn't come from anime

I did watch a bunch of stuff that I later learnt was jump, like Black Cat but the magazine spiral really came from following all the big stuff.
this is another great reason to like mangaplus is how effective and accessible every title has become regardless of size, 10 years ago I'd have never convinced someone to read say, kill blue

I actually thought that post comparing the sales was interesting to showcase the difference between eras and that KGB could be doing much better if we still had these types of sales in the industry, especially here where people keep comparing modern sales to old ones and asking what Jump is doing wrong instead of considering we're 10~20 years away from that time.

That’s a good point actually, there were a few anime’s I had seen before really knowing that they were specifically Shonen Jump: Bigger ones like Haikyuu and Assassination Classroom, but also less massive ones like Saiki K.
