Natsu was being metaphoric. It's just a way to say that he has a "strong body" (a body very hard to cut) because of Igneel's power, who is a King Fire Dragon, ie, Natsu is a dragon slayer of a strong dragon, so he is strong. Ajeel kept fighting after being cut by Erza, and was gushing blood from his wounds. August could keep fighting after getting a hole in his body, and Irene could keep fighting after a huge cut on her dragon's body, so Natsu's durability isn't leagues above any Spriggan. Actually, Erza has always been a very resistant wizard, and she was close to being defeated by Ajeel, was defeated by Neinhart, etc. I think that the "defense topic"overall is something that you shouldn't bring, because the Spriggans were supposed to be able to defeat Erza, Jellal, and Gidarts, wizards strong in every aspect.
Suzaku wasnt being metaphorical. His sword can cut dragon scales, which is why he was surprised Natsu could defend against it. Natsu replied that he has the scales of a Fire Dragon King. Then Suzaku said that in order to break through the scales of a Fire Dragon King, he must go all out. Either way, at the end of the day, Natsu has defense stronger than that of regular dragon scales. That gives him better durability than pretty much every Spriggan.
I was more talking about preventing damage in the first place. I dont think Erza is cutting Natsu's FDK scales in the first place. Nor is Brandish's knife going to impale him. We've seen Natsu just melt Wed's sword, and Wed's broken Armadura Fairy. Which btw scales Suzaku's sword above both.
But if you want to talk about recovering from injuries, Natsu has literally been stabbed all over his body, including in the head, by Aldoron. He burned the thorns off and healed the injuries.
Erza was defeated because she couldn't keep up with Ajeel's speed in the Sand World. There is no evidence that the AOE of Suzaku cuts would hit Ajeel without him dodging it mixed with sand. I just said that if Suzuku were in the same situation that Ajeel was, he would be hit, and that the Bisca's help defined Erza's victory.
Im saying it wouldnt make a difference even if he were to get hit. Suzaku could oneshot Erza, can tank the hit, and then go over and oneshot Bisca. Or he can tank the hit, oneshot Erza, and then oneshot Bisca. Or he can tank the hit, oneshot Bisca, and oneshot then Erza last.
Jupiter Canon is something Makarov can block with his arms. FDK destruction fist oneshotted Makatov, and Suzku facetanked it.
Invel was able to keep Natsu frozen for a while, so a doubt that Silver Devil Slayer Magic will not do the same. Again, if Natsu were casual and had spent magic as he did before facing Suzaku, he would be lost by the pleasure that made him feel like part of his body was destroyed, once he couldn't keep fighting after Suzaku cut his body.
Invel's ice was straight up colder than Gray's. To the point that Invel could freeze Gray's magic. Even then, Natsu could melt it without going all out. Not sure what you mean by pleasure. But feeling the pain of losing a body part is far less significant than actually losing a body part. *Anybody* can endure maximum pain. You dont even have to be magical. Real life soldiers have had limbs blown off and still manage to operate their weapons. Sure, it might suck...But actually getting impaled and losing blood sucks more.
If he were frozen trying to attack, his magical power would focus on the attack, not on defense. Please, let's not pretend that Dimaria couldn't cut his head off if she wanted. Good luck to SuperSuzaku trying to fight back without a head.
If that were the case, all slayers would become vulnerable and have no durability when they are attacking. That's not the case.
Lol, I wasnt even thinking of Dimaria's knife.
I feel like I have to point out the obvious. Suzaku is the Sword Saint Dragon, which by the way should provide an elemental resistance to swords. Do you believe that Dimaria's non-magical pocket knife can cut a dragon slayer whose elemental attribute is a literal sword? We have seen Natsu swallow bullets btw.
How does it not matter? It's the way the author informs about the character's power level, and it is important even to overcome someone who has hax magic (Brandish's magic can affect someone far stronger than her). If I'm not mistaken, Selene's power was suppressed by Drogma's roots while she fought Suzaku, so she should be far inferior to human Acnologia.
Selene was on a different dimension, specifically a dimension overflowing with magic power. Dogramag's roots wouldnt have affected her. Even if it did, it doesnt matter. Because Selene still had more MP than Aldoron and Mercphobia. Aldoron can straight up clone Zeref, Gildarts, and a dozen Makarov's with just one of his seeds. At the end of the day, Suzaku can hit harder than Selene...despite the latter having more MP. Selene needs to go into her dragon form to beat him.
You're right, the English version translated the spells badly. But again, it's more of a proof of Kirin's endurance than other thing, since his lighting was not put beyond or even equal to Red Lighting, so he is still unable to affect Wall with it. And also, Laxus was combining the Red Lightning Megaton with speed when he killed Wall.
The reason Laxus couldnt damage Wall with regular lightning was because Wall could convert it to power. He couldnt do that with red lightning. So you're right. Maybe Kirin's lightning wont work on Wall. Then again, Kirin's lightning was powerful enough to damage Laxus through his slayer advantage. So who knows.
It doesnt really matter though, because Kirin's atmosphere magic can make Laxus cough blood. So it'll damage Wall. In a battle of attrition, Kirin is gonna win, because he is far more durable.
Physical attacks work on dragons if the attacks are strong enough. Brandish can do some damage to a dragon in her giant form. Lucy was able to catch Mercophobia and throw him on the lacrima, and she wasn't even close to Aldoron's height.
Im still of the opinion that Lucy damaged Mercphobia because the lacrima she threw him into was a giant chunk of what is essentially Mercphobia's own magic. But for the sake of argument, let's just say physical attacks can hurt dragons if they're strong enough. It doesnt change the fact that the God Dragons all have Acnologia level MP, but vastly different showings.
First off, Brandish made Gajeel the same size as Aldoron. Gajeel was a dragon slayer to boot. Gajeel barely did anything to Aldoron before the latter blew a hole in him. If you believe giant Lucy or Gajeel can deal significant damage to Mercphobia, that's just gonna prove that Aldoron has vastly superior durability compared to Mercphobia.
Moreover, Natsu did far more damage to Aldoron than giant Gajeel. Natsu has vastly inferior MP levels compared to Aldoron. Natsu has inferior MP levels compared to Gajeel and Brandish combined. Natsu still hits harder.
All of which leads us to the ultimate conclusion that MP levels is far less important than how hard you actually hit. This manga had a dude with literal infinite MP lose to a guy with MP levels on par with Gray.
