Jump is going to be in trouble after the next 6 months or so, because what is this, the 6th? established series slated to end this year or so?
Elusam, Blue Box, Sakamoto Days, Roboco, Witch Watch, and now Himaten
Hopefully series like Roku, 2B, and Under Doctor actually stick here, or else we're entering an era where like most of the mag will be series that have ran for less than a year.

Although, the idea that we somehow reach a period of jump where somehow Kiyoshi is the 5th oldest series is very funny. Maybe he'll actually do an angel arc and it'll stick for even longer XD. Will Saito have to acknowledge it, Nue, or Akane as like "pillars" once Blue Box and Sakamoto Days are gone? Or will he stick to the KGB-Ichi-Hertz trio with Shinobi slotted in there.

Might be a while before I post some of the one-shots from jump giga today, but we will see how things turn out over the weekend. I, for one, am kinda busy with a wedding I'm attending; the downside is just the travel there.

Also, honestly, good for Genki Ono to know when to stop; that is an author who knows when the time is right. Some romance manga that I won't name, mostly because some obvious contenders overstay their welcome in some way, which in turn leads to a worse ending.

Lastly, to get people a bit excited for next week's one-shot made by Takahata Yuu, here is a previous one shots he has made:

Jump Plus's The Dragon Remains of Edo (2025)

Weekly Shonen Jump's Vati Lipepe (issue #7 of 2021)

I understand Witch Watch, but the question is Robocco.

This brings up a good question: how many series are primed to last until 2030 (with the big presumption of hopefully the mangaka’s good health!)!

OP and HxH for sure could just praying for author health. The gag manga (Hertz, Roboco, and if it’s successful 2-B) all easily could. I would not bet against Nishi so I think Ichi has material for that long. Shinobi has not revealed teams 1-5 and 7 so there’s a lot of material built in already. KGB will be close based on the authors timeline. I don’t know if kiyoshi can unless we start really exploring with a heaven realm or other unique angles. Everything else likely ends before 2030 based on their remaining material.

In the Volume 9 Afterword lol? There is literally no interpretation of your question that wasn't already answered. I'm impressed these kinds of posts are still allowed here from you.
The guy wrote that the manga was saying without providing ANY evidence.
I simply asked him where the source was.

It wasn't included in the post before he asked is what he's saying lol

If Under Doctor and Class 2B kick-off I could see those both lasting hundreds of chapters.

I understand Witch Watch, but the question is Robocco.
Roboco was a comment in a volume iirc, but it could definitely last for longer if they wanted it to. But iirc, they said they wanted to have about 30 volumes, and now the most recently released one is 26. So considering that volume 26 covers up to like chapter 259, and the latest roboco chapter is 279 (volume 28), it could still blow a bit past 30 volumes and end this year.
And then yeah, I mean Witch Watch is in the final arc (maybe not the final battle), and we're getting the side character 1v1s rn. Even if each 1v1 lasts like 2-3 more chapters, and the final battle takes like another 10-15 on its own, we'd have ample time to end before the year is done. (There's like 30 issues left this year).

My bets are Shinobi, Ichi, and Hertz as of now. I think Kiyoshi and Nue end in 2027, with Bachi ending in 2028. Idk when Akane will end, but I just don't see it lasting till 2030, thats a lot more series. And then idk, I know its a meme, but if OP lasts another 4-5 years that'll be genuinely wild, considering we started the final saga back in 2023 or so. 8 years of final saga just seems like a little too much.

Would be nice to see some Jump+ mangaka get a chance in the main mag.

A few I think would fit pretty well include;
Nao Iori; I loved Manaka. High concept, fantastic action, and touching character work. Has a really strong grasp on how to write characters with trauma.

Wataru Momose; My Marriage To Sanaka had a great art-style and character design, really touching character relationships, and the final arc showed they could do pretty decent action as well.

Ryuji Kunimoto; His art improved a lot over the course of Blood Wing Hunter, and his action panelwork is really dope. While he clearly wore his influences on his sleeves with that series, it managed to do some pretty cool stuff with it.

Mononobu; fantastic art-style. Writing showed promise as well before the series started rushing itself towards the end.

Also wanna mention Kanya Aki, Haruka Nanase, Alpa, Hisaya Hashida, Kyoko Soda, Asako Mabuchi/Kohei Ando, Emofuu, Yosuke Takano, Ire Nomamoto, Shiro Moriya, Haruhisa Nakata, and Teito Heji/Sai Yamagishi,

I wonder if it’s something we don’t see much due to how many Jump+ mangaka get used to the more flexible schedule, a lot of the more established series on there seem to more frequently take breaks or be on biweekly schedules in ways that they would not be able to get away with in the main magazine. The least risky method would be to find an author who can maintain consistent weekly output on Jump+, who also shows signs of more than just barely surviving, given that Jump+ isn’t as competitive as the main magazine.

I wouldn’t be opposed to it if it were possible, though. Would be nice to see some of the good authors over there get the recognition they don’t seem to be afforded most of the time.

Hey, I came up with an idea for a Jump Fighter roster that's inspired by the first 2 Smash games if you wanna hear them.
It's based on a bit of a hypothetical timeline where Jump does one of those games about 2-3 years after the corresponding Smash games, with fighters representing the line-up of the magazine at that time.
Would you be interested?
I only made it up to Melee, though.
Since no one asked, I'm gonna share my Roster for the Smash 64 equivalent anyways now and my reasonings when applicable:
First game (2001-02)
BASE ROSTER:
1. Son Goku (Dragon Ball) [The face of Shōnen Jump and defined Shōnen manga for years to come]
2. Arale Norimaki (Dr. Slump) [From Jump's most legendary name's first series]
3. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) [Rising star and one of the big pillars of Jump]
4. Jotaro Kujo (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) [Most iconic JoJo protagonist from the most popular part that introduces a power system that separates itself from the crowd]
5. Himura Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin) [I know you guys would prefer having no RuroKen, but I added him here because he is a significant part of Jump's History, for better or for worse and Shueisha would still include him. Plus, the series helped kept the series afloat and the author behind Jump's best selling series was a very notable assistant for him]
6. Yusuke Urameshi (YuYu Hakusho) [One of the 90s most defining series and popularized the Supernatural/Exorcism subgenre for years to come]
7. Gon Freecss (Hunter x Hunter) [Another iconic Togashi protagonist of a newly popular work, in spite of several hiatuses]
8. Yugi Muto (Yu-Gi-Oh) [Main protagonist of a manga with a famous TCG tie-in, many Western players would be familiar with him thanks to the anime]
9. Yoh Asakura (Shaman King) [Would have just gotten an anime]
10. Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto) [Another rising star that would become one of the 3 faces of Jump, would be added to celebrate the then recent anime]
UNLOCKABLES:
11. Vegeta (Dragon Ball) [The most iconic rival from the most iconic series]
12. Nami (One Piece) [Was originally gonna be the 2nd Straw Hat before Oda decided to go with Zoro]
13. Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star) [The OG Battle Shōnen protagonist that would shape Shōnen Jump alongside Dragon Ball]
14. Kankichi Ryotsu (KochiKame) [The protagonist of Jump's longest running series]
15. Pegasus Seiya (Saint Seiya) [Would define the Magical Boy & Bishonen parts of Shōnen for years to come, plus would add some gameplay variety]
16. Kuriboh (Yu-Gi-Oh) [Thought it would make for a fun Jigglypuff equivalent]
What do you guys think?

Probably around that number, it just finished volume 10 so it has at least 9 left to fill a volume; depending on the timing of the next few batches, it'll be either 9 or 18 chapters

I've played around with similar hypothetical rosters. I like yours but would move Seiya into the main cast. Arguably the most influential Jump battle manga.
I'd prefer if they went the Smash Bros route to revive the Jump Super/Ultimate Stars branding and gameplay. Go back to the massive cast of characters with an even larger amount of koma/assist trophy characters.
Just have the koma deck system heavily simplified and assigned to buttons/button combos.
Assembling your own unique koma hand allows all players to feel unique regardless of character used, and adds that deck building element of gameplay.

Plus, buying character packs/koma booster decks as dlc is a great avenue for the game to make a lot of money.

I hope Himaten's getting a natural/good ending for it🙏
Oh I bet its getting one. I have no fear on that.

I would be far more afraid if it keep going for too long. Its one of the main reasons I tend to skip most romance manga as it seems like its just eternally trapped by its tropes and cliches.

Yeah, this week chapter 88 finished vol 10, chapter 89 from next issue will start vol 11, tbh the timing seems suspiciously right for Hima-Ten to finish next round after like 7~9 chapters, but probably isn't going to happen this early.

I remember in a Roboco chapter that it went over that. One example was Taishi Tsutsui after he did a Nisekoi spinoff.

I can't imagine Tabata returning to WSJ after having to switch to GIGA due to being unable to handle the schedule, but I hope he at least returns at some point to Jump SQ or Jump+ with a slower release schedule.
I think is important to remember the reason why Tabata moved to GIGA is because his wife was sick at the time and Tabata had to take care of his wife, kid and at the top of it draw weekly manga. A while after the move Tabata mentioned about how everything was well and he was doing great, so i feel like with his life already perfectly well and a few years resting without drawing anything, he could return to Jump just fine, Horikoshi went 10 years struggling to publish every week and he didn't even wait a entire year to confirm working on new stuff lol
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

I did not saw that coming, To Love-ru & Yuuna-san on Jump GIGA??? That sounds like heaven, but it really doesn't make it clear if actually a special chapter or just colored illustrations, and btw, praying for the manga gods that this is the sign that To Love-ru Part 3 is in the works and Miura is working in his return to Jump (I know a anime S2 is almost impossible but please???)
