Having metaphorical gods that add depth to the story is, to me, different from turning the main characters into gods and having a battle of gods.





That said, even though I’m not a fan of the whole “gods” theme, I trust Oda. He never does things in a simple way.

On paper yes that sucks, but we have to see how Oda delivers it. Don't forget we don't know how Devil fruits came about. Oda probably will start from the creation of the world and if he delivers it well, it would be a master piece. If not, then it would just be another Naruto repackaged.

These 6 god thing does not sound legit to me.

I can understand the introduction of new characters and new developments , but it still has to be within the confines of what should be realistic to the story, or at the very least, foreshadowed like non-contact Haki and Nika (bit of a stretch, no pun intended).

The 6 god thing, I do not buy it. I can understand Nika, and Imu, but 4-6 other gods? Sceptical. I may be wrong.

To me the whole thing with 4 gods sounds like it is related to the ages in the story. Imu beat the ancient kingdom, did some deal with davy jones and became king of the world. It was a transition of power that caused the change from the second to the third world. Davy jones was king of the world in the second era. unclear what the setting was in the first. The four gods probably refer to beings who were in power or had major roles in the transition of ages.

So it's fine if the gods are debunked as fruit users, monsters or anything else.. i am not sure if it want to have the devil fruits' origin explained away by a god or devil doing his things. I was more inclined to think of them as some kind of futuristic technology and that was the way Oda handled it up to now (people on the moon, vegapunk, lineage factors, mother flame).
But we will have to wait how things develop. Imu does not give off any science vibes...

I think Oda already explained the origin of Devil fruits as a power that originates from the wishes of people making it unnatural.
And given that the sea is like the source of nature, it rejects DF users which is why they sink.
This is why Imu didn't want the name "Nika" to be known by anyone, because as long as people know the name "Nika", then it will always appear in the form of a fruit - at least that's how I understood it.

I guess we just have to wait and see. Hopefully spoilers soon.

For all we know, these "Gods" might just be titles they received because of circumstances and historic context, it doesn't necessarily mean they're literal gods. I remember watching a video of a japanese man explaining the word "kami" and what it means and how it is viewed in japanese culture and shinto religion; many things, yep things, can be "kami". It is in stark contrast how we in the west historically (I guess) view god and understand it.

That's why I guess these individuals were just historic people with weird powers that were viewed by common people as "gods" rather than them being x-dimensional, immortal, allmighty, heavenly dads (with all respect).

Well, FOR ME, its ok if the gods are in the backstory, the lore from the past… but I wouldnt enjoy more “normal” characters turning into half deitys or something like that.
I liked when Luffy was just a normal boy that dreamed with being free instead of him being a toy of the destiny for the sake of the gods

Thats kind different from ur previous statment, i agree hate Oda change gomu gomu to be nika power, i mean w/o being nika Luffy awakening just exact same like how i rubber awakening in my head, i do thing will be more epic if a boy just with rubber power try to fight god,,

I do like G5 awakening battle style, but dont need change the name,,
