With this new chapter of Blue Box, I'm torn on if its really ending after this match, or if it'll somehow go farther. Either way though, I can't really see it lasting past September, but the previous match lasted only like 3 chapters, and with the way this match is being set up, I can kinda see it lasting like 5ish chapters and the series ends up ending in july or so. What do other people think? I see people talking about how we're going to have a match in nationals, but I feel like that'll be glossed over (if it even is shown), as this is the big emotional match, and it would feel odd undermining it.

Regarding doublespread not looking good on print, i really feel that mangakas has no excuse.

I have seen manga papers in person (the ones mangaka use to draw on). There are literally the built in margins to tell you where the paper splits will be.

And i am sure digital tools also has margins.

So i really do not understand how mangakas of Kentaro Miura and Kishimoto caliber made such amateurish mistakes. The said pages were done when they were already veterans

He is absolutely right about Oda loving his manga too much. Maybe not whole story but Luffy clearly
And he is absolutely right about JJK being piece of crap

I would agree that a 5 chapter match sounds about right. I predict that Blue Box will have 11 chapters left to be completed.

He's saying that because so many people read manga on their phones, mangaka do not emphasize a double-page structure as much (they don't work so well on phones). Basically, he is upset that manga is no longer primarily expected to be read in physical (which makes sense, since from what I remember 50% of sales were digital).

It isn't an amateur mistake insomuch as a widespread shift in the medium itself.

If this doesn't make it clear that this is a boomer rant, I don't know what will.

tbh, about the double page bleed, it's more on the print issue more than the mangaka. The grid line is just there as reference
With digital platforms getting stronger and stronger, it becomes even more pointless to care about it

Very naive thinking when physical sales still make up most of average mangaka's earnings

And mangakas literally plan number of chapters for tankoubons

It is not an excuse when the said pages were literally printed in magazines, and they still intend to collect them in tankoubons as final destination

And yes i am aware magazines can be flattened better than tankoubons. But doing so will damage the magazine spines

A good mangaka should and can plan for both mediums.

So you're saying Miura and Kishimoto aren't good mangaka because of something like this? lol

Same. Not all of them, but it's irritating how many people are writing off all of his points just because he criticized some of their favorite manga.
Love how passionate he is about his opinions.
I wouldn't mind him being so loud about his opinions IF he could prove that he's right and being able to produce hit after hit as an editor. But he is not.

What other big hits did he "make" in the last 20 or 30 years? Maybe he has, I don't know, but I can't see what titles.

Readers don't need editors/mangaka who make "interesting" manga, they want editors/mangaka who make manga THEY WANT TO READ. So, manga that become hits because they are what a lot of readers want to read. What is interesting for somebody is not necessarly for another person.

He's the same as the other one in anime, always bragging and criticizing others, though he's not making hits, I don't remember his name.

When amateurs/readers are like this, well, that's the sport, so who cares? But pros are different. They have the means to prove their claims, so shut up and produce manga that sell!! :datass

RIP Alien Headbutt, the series is clearly rushing to the end now. I imagine goat girl was supposed to be a core part of the series as a main duo, considering the Headbutt in the title, but it didn't have time to introduce her naturally so the author's just shoved her in here so he can show off the character before it's done.

I don't get an ending feeling from Kinato yet, so perhaps it'll stick around after all and we'll just see two new series? Since Himaten comes across as having a full story arc left with this trip, rather than ending in the next few issues.

As far as the new series go it's good to see Roku hinting at more serious content, I'd like to see it try a variety of arcs if it survives. The mention of their being 7 war curses means Kabaneji would be action for sure, so having each curse content be a different genre mix could be an interesting way to take the story.

Drawn to the Fire continues to be a fun read with good characters and cool sports moments, but it's hard to get excited for a sports manga in Jump after how long it's been since the last hit.

2B Hero Destroyerz just plain sucks, honestly. It almost did some fun content this chapter but then yet again spent most of the chapter going "toilet HAHAHA!!! poopoo HAHAHA!!! toilet HAHAHA!!!" Even Murakami had more jokes than this. It feels like Sorachi's homed in on the very worst bits of Gintama and made them the entire series.

There is a couple good points in here (like there's definitely over-reliance on infodumps and explanations in a bunch of modern series, cue the HxH cereal meme) but most of this comes across as him just not liking anything with any sort of themes or complexity. He wants manga you can skim through in a minute just looking at the pretty pictures and enjoying the big punch at the end, and doesn't want to have to think about what he's reading.

We don't care what torishima think. It's just an old retrogade man that thinks manga should be still like 80s manga Lol. He's just famous for working with toriyama and nothing else...
