You have to accept the fact that right now (with a few exceptions), Weekly Shonen Jump sells thanks to returning series, not rookie (only Hokazono, Usui, and a few others can claim to have been running for more than two years with their debut series in the last years)
Oh

And...

Since when exactly?

Because I don't remember crazy sales of Bleach after the new anime.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

At this point half of me wants Bleach Hell arc to be serialised because it's my favourite manga of all time, and the other half of me just wants to see you admit that it is in fact happening after years of playing ignorant on it not coming back in some form.
But why should he come back?

It's over.
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Anyway, more of the usual trustworthy leakers confirming details (such as it being weekly):

And who would they be?
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Tbf I feel like Bleach has more of a reason for a sequel series than Naruto did. Bleach at least had Hell set up since early doors, but just didn't explore it.
I don't see why he would have had to do that.
--- Double Post Merged, ---

I don’t think you could really blame Bleach’s return on Saito or the current state of the magazine this was teased 5 years ago well before he was EiC and probably would have happened sooner if not for the TYBW anime
But it was just a one-shot for the manga's twentieth anniversary...

A one-shot that’s mostly set up and ends on a cliffhanger

Nobody really needs to do anything but if Kubo wants to write Bleach I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t write more Bleach if you don’t like it or don’t want it you can just not read it
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

anyway I'm very excited for the true return we've all been waiting for to be announced instead, that being of course Chagecha 2

Would you be fine if Kubo wrote an Yuri manga about cheerleaders stranded on a Zombie apocalypse?

Bleach as a whole is an incomplete series. Several major things unexplained and a very awkward weird ending; maybe the worst ending for an completed series I've read. This is fantastic to hopefully answer a lot of questions and for fans to see highly requested bankais (Bankais of Aizen, Yoruchi, Iba, Ukitake, the peacock dude, and the rest of the vizard captains) as well as lore (soul king stuff, hell, royal families etc.)

Can't wait for interesting new ideas and creators to not have a chance anymore because Saito is a washed editor that is pandering to nostalgia now to try to save himself. Ridiculous.

If this magazine was under him before, instead of the modern hits of the 2010s and getting new fans and franchises, they would be running Ginpachi, Dragon Ball Super, all these dumb Hokuto spin-offs on the main magazine and losing relevance just like Champion and Sunday with their Baki and Conan spin-offs taking away slots that should be used for new stories.

I will guess that some of them are AI bots.

Anyway regarding HxH and Bleach returning, I’m excited, but I hope it is more spaced and paced out to focus more on the newer titles. However the greater problem is honesty. I mean, I have no problem with some of the series that Saito launched as there is some potential with some artists over others. It’s different compared to Nakano who brought back more successful artists to see a good amount of them crash. At least some of the artists who failed in the past and returned have gotten better, so I don’t have that many complaints. I will only feel worried when 5 of the titles I have mentioned countless times conclude, then I will start to get worried if those new series don’t hit, mainly the comedy, romance, and sports genres. Just 2-3 to represent for each of those genres.

I hate to defend Saito here but A - This Bleach stuff was already in the works long before he became chief and B - Nakano arguably did this more than Saito. Under Nakano we had Fujimaki return (Robot x Laserbeam), Kazuki Takahashi for a brief time (The Comiq), Hiroshi Shiibashi (Yui Kamio), Kishimoto (Samurai 8), Kentaro Yabuki (Ayakashi Triangle), Ryuhei Tamura (Cop and Dolphin), Kubo for a brief time (Burn the Witch), Ryo Nakama (High School Family), Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (Build King), Yuesi Matsui (The Elusive Samurai), and then also Fujimaki again lol (Kill Blue). And even Kubo again under him with the Hell Arc one shot, which has led to the upcoming return of the series full time, seemingly.

So, I don't think this is a Saito thing. Jump has been like this for about a decade now, really. The only people Saito has bought back for nostalgia reasons, off the top of my head, are Shun Numa (highly debatable since i'm not sure how many cared about Samon-kun), Sorachi and Kubo (who again, already was gonna come back regardless of who was the EIC). And Gege with Modulo, but that was also a mini series/limited run and he was only the writer.

I kinda miss Heishi. Now he was a real new series maker lol (I don't know shit about any other EICs before him though).

Surely Blue Box would be the one getting replaced? Unless it decides to stretch things out even further doing a part 2 set in college and continuing with no further progress forever Rent-a-Girlfriend style.

Sakamoto Days might be starting the final battle, but considering how wild its action gets I don't see it ending until early 2027. And it'd be weird for WSJ to announce the grand return of Bleach... in 6 months.

Although, Blue Box and Sakamoto Days both probably ending quite soon brings up a new question; what's going to be the new 3rd signature series alongside One Piece and Kagurabachi? Nothing newer than Kagurabachi has an anime announced yet. So they'll either have to put Ichi in that position pre-anime, or pretend Akane-banashi is a big hit (I think Witch Watch is bigger, but that's also probably ending soon).

Obviously Shinobigoto's going to get that spot once it has an anime even if it gets no boost whatsoever, but that's still probably a couple years off knowing current Jump.

I assume once everything is done, the pillars will be OP, with Ichi/Kagurabachi/Hertz as the tier below that, and then Shinobi/Akane/Roboco as the tier below those guys.

I mean looking at the last few group covers ichi is already there it’s given about the same level of prominence as kagurabachi, Blue Box and Sakamato I’m sure Someone Hertz will be up there next time too

Also looking back at old covers I forgot Nice Prison had a weird group cover debut they were trying to do the Roboco thing I guess? But it’s all just old stock art and doesn’t fit the series at all

Roboco’s debut cover is honestly pretty funny to look at now too he drew them all like Roboco the same way mega man fan sprites all just look like mega man

For this next batch, I would not mind a mostly rookie batch as I'm a bit fatigued from veterans constantly returning when there are so many rookies that I want to see join the magazine...

A hilarious detail that I would like to point out for the Nice Prison debut cover is that the stock asset it got for Roboco is the exact same pose that she was doing for Me & Roboco's debut issue.
Yes, I'm serious...

I'm all for new works from these authors, series like Ichi are bringing new worlds and stories. I would be happy to see a new Tite Kubo manga! But going back to an old finished work goes against the idea of nurturing new talent and appealing to new fans, this stuff should be on their other magazines. It would be very disappointing to see a line up full of things like MHA sequels, Demon Slayer prequel, etc.

And while they have a leg ahead because of their fame, they're still fighting in more equal standing. Like it or not, Bleach may decline 90% of what it used to do, but it will do well enough to take a slot away from a newbie that will get axed or not have their shot like Kubo did in the past.

It's rare for Jump to do publish sequels or spin-offs and I think it was a mistake when they did this before as well. At least Modulo was a short series and was used to promote a brand new manga, but needing Bleach to bail them is too creatively bankrupt to me.

For this next batch, I would not mind a mostly rookie batch as I'm a bit fatigued from veterans constantly returning when there are so many rookies that I want to see join the magazine...
All the GFC winners are locked in the Dragon Ball Hyperbolic Time Chamber or something.

Issue 29 2026 (speedrunning once again):

1. Nue's Exorcist: ... It finally happened. He used the Katana...

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

OVER THREE YEARS OF THEORIZING, COPING, ANALYZING EVERY LITTLE LINE AND FINALLY HERE IT IS- HE USED THE KATANA!!!

Ok, ok, let's calm down. Takuro's depth of characterization within just this one chapter is phenomenal. The first thing he does after seeing Gakuro is just treating him like a kid, trying to act like they are still living those peaceful days. But Gakuro, despite being able to talk to his late father after so, so long his tragic passing, knows he has no time. Kasha and Nue could start fighting at any point, if Gakuro doesn't move NOW, it will all be over. So, he once again walks the path of the warrior, which goes back to his roots as a Yajima.
There have been many, MANY hints throughout the series that the Yajimas were a weird bunch, but being a whole clan birthing warriors for the sake of becoming... NUE'S CONTRACTORS?!
I'll touch upon this very briefly: there is still SO much we don't know: who is Gakuro's mother? How did the Yajima come into existence? Why did they know of Nue when the rest of the bureau lost the records of her existence? What seemingly wiped the family out (I saw that panel of Takuro talking to the Fujino head so I can guess...)? How did Ishu meet Gakuro? Where does Yagyo and his group fit into all of this? What about Shitotsu? There is SO much!!!
...Um, back on topic. Takuro fought and died for his child's freedom, yet that freedom resulted in Gakuro still contracting with Nue, still becoming a warrior. The key difference is the intention behind it. The Warrior Of Carnage would just be a piece sent to slaughter the Hyo- it would serve Nue's objective only on paper, it wouldn't save anyone- That's why the Hero Warrior that Gakuro became is the greatest result possible. Someone undeterred to save everyone first, kill the enemy second. Him living that life of passivity was the balance needed to his Warrior's path.
The way Takuro gave Gakuro a choice is also the same thing Nue did in chapter 1: either be free, or be strong. Gakuro chose to be free first, strong way after because ironically enough, that was the only way for him to be free.
Crimson Midnight Sun sounds like such a contrary to Silver Of Darkness and ESPECIALLY Moonlit Night's End. Maybe Gakuro will absorb sunlight with it instead? Maybe he'll dual wield both and achieve Eclipse? And for something like that to happen, perhaphs the possibility of a Level 6 isn't so questionable... All very excited speculation on my part.
I wanna praise the little but very effective storytelling done with the Yajima clan. The corruoted soil, the talks lf Warriors of Carnage paint such a brutal picture of them, and it makes Takuro that much more special, being able to take Gakuro away from that world. And on that note, Gakuro vs Shiroha feels so much different now, with its premise built upon her envy of Gakuro's life, devoid of missions and sadness and brutality. Turns out, they got so, SO much more in common than they thought...
One of the most rewarding chapters to read... Ever, not even just in Nue. The Katana being drawn, Takuro's complex characterization, the mystery of the Yajima being touched upon, all the previous plot points being recontextualized to have a whole different meaning, all the little context clues making sense- I fucking love thos series dude, NEVER stop Kota. Yajima/10, would Warrior again!

2. Roku's House Of Oddities: Altra is adorable, but it's not just that which makes this chapter so good. Akari's scientific view of life ironically works to show his conpassion and spirit, understanding and ecxplaining human emotion to Altra. His story about burying the bug hits because it's a show of compassion nd love for life, exactly what Altra needs to move beyond her given "purpose". Amazing chapter.

3. Kagurabachi: Besides what people have praised for this chapter already, one thing I want to point out is how we see two sides of wanting to help Chiaki and save her from the marriage. Akemura is picking up his sword, ready to cut down anyone in his way, while Kunishige picks up the hammer and prepares himself to create the weapons, one of which Akemura will wield himself.

4. Someone Hertz: Cute, and good that we are delving more into the romance of the series.

5. Ichi The Witch: It feels good finally seeing witches kick ass in the series- a surprisingly rare sight.

6. Hal Formula: My first experience with Terasaka's writing! And... It's pretty good. The drama was strong, especially regarding the fear of speed and the humanity of it, all presented by jumping the bridge gap, the relationship between the brothers was great too! My issues are with how the last race was presented- it just kinda wasn't. It needed like, 4 extra pages to it. Still, curious as to how things will proceed from here.

7. Animal Signal: Cute, but it does feel like a bit of a repeat of chapter 1 in many areas. Still, cute, and that "What" was funny.

8. Kinato's Magic: That beach spread has great tiddies, I won't lie! Chapter itself is fine.

9. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz: This chapter saves itself thanks to the few jokes I did laugh at: the curtain closing ability and the audition. The former especially was so fucking stupid that I HAVE to praise it on its own.

10. Under Doctor: I don't have much to say about this chapter. The series has not given me enough reason to care about Kusumi yet, but I do find Chiwa cute so there's bonus pointa in that. More setup for what comes next, but after the Samurai Cameroon fiasco I am just unable to get excited.

-- Gap --

11. Drawn To The Fire: Remember how I praised chapter 1 partially for the clarity and flow of the game? That sure aged well! Not. That was an HORRIBLY illustrated (barely) game, genuinely incomprehensible without the text telling you what's going on. The drama is FINE on its own, but damn the composition and clarity got BAD this week.

Shun Numa (highly debatable since i'm not sure how many cared about Samon-kun)
The entire world cared about Samon-kun. I'll ensure that future generations will never forget Samon-kun so that the entire world can continue to mourn his premature demise.

The issue isn't that old super successful veterans come back to Jump, that's the DNA of WSJ going all the way back to the 70s. The problem is that these super successful veterans are just doing their super successful series in WSJ when that's the one thing they basically never did in the past. You listed all those authors who came back during Nakano's time and none of them just did "original successful series' sequel". They all did a new idea, with new themes they wanted to attempt, with new characters and worlds they wanted to share. Some succeeded, some didn't. That's the Jump cycle. And yes, on the very rare occasion a sequel was published in WSJ itself (there's the whole Jojo's thing, but each part can essentially stand alone as its own unique franchise so I think that's its own category. More talking about things like Captain Tsubasa's original sequel, Boruto, the Bobobo sequel, etc.), but that's it, it was very rare. Saito's done two in his first two years (assuming this is Bleach, and not Burn the Witch S2), maybe 3 because I also remember reading something about The Promised Neverland doing something for its 10 year anniversary.

And it's not even like I hate Kubo for doing more Bleach. If he wants to devote his career to Bleach and he considers it his baby, more power to him. Artists should do whatever they feel is right. He certainly doesn't need to think about the money at this point. But the thing that made Jump unique is that they didn't dwell on the past and always looked towards the next great mangaka. Pushing these sequels to other magazines didn't just help those other magazines by giving them a pillar to work with and a headstart on a huge fanbase, it helped the series by lesser known authors get a chance to shine in WSJ because they get to publish in the magazine that had those titans, but maybe they could fill the void in those people's hearts. You can't really do that if now we just assume at some point we'll get Haikyu!! 2 or MHA: DekuxBakugo's kid's series in WSJ. I don't need to care about any of the unknown author's series anymore.

All the GFC winners are locked in the Dragon Ball Hyperbolic Time Chamber or something.

Ah, gotcha, maybe I misread/misunderstood the original point then, because I thought you guys were just talking purely on returning vets in general, regardless of if they were doing a sequel series or a completely new series. Fair enough, these are fair points actually, and a good distinction. And I actually do kinda agree.

I still wouldn't mind a Haikyuu 2 or Bleach 2 (as long as they're good!), but yeah, not as a long running series taking up a spot for however long they run for (could be years really). They should put those on Jump+, I suppose? Or have them be mini series like Modulo. OR, really they could just add an additional spot in the magazine if they want, though I suppose at that point the gates would open and you could start adding new spots for every new returning series until you have about 50 series running lmao! Imagine that.

Tbf, we don't know yet if this new Bleach thing is a long running thing or a mini series yet. I remember he referred to the first Burn the Witch release as "season one", so it's possible he may view both Burn the Witch and Bleach like this now, a sort of "seasonal" manga.
