Hey, Someone Hertz has also already had 2 covers before its first anniversary, I wouldn't discount it and Ichi hogging the covers, alongside a series like shinobi.

I find it hard to believe that Jump would miss the opportunity to have both HXH and Kagurabachi in the magazine.
And I find it even more unlikely that they don't put both of them on the cover of the double summer issue.

Probably should, but I guess the rotation of Series Allowed to Get Random Covers will be One Piece, Ichi, Hertz and Akane. If Destroyerz sells well, maybe it as well, if Sorachi isn't really dying with the weekly schedule.

Roboco will also likely be getting covers and then hopefully some of the newer series start to gain traction.
So I could see Roboco, Akane, Witch Watch, Shinobi, Kiyoshi, and Someone Hertz along-side One Piece and Ichi the Witch.
If Jump is thinking 2-B will be a short series like Module or it performs well then I could see it getting some covers as well.

First, I think Sakamoto & WW have both one cover left, maybe two at most for WW (i kinda think it will not finish this year)
Then, we got of course OP, Ichi & Hertz + Akane
Shinobi will probably have more covers too lol
Maybe Roku/Class2B/UnDoc if they really are hits (same for Animal Signal's batch, if any of them is successful)
Roboco/Kiyoshi/Nue will have the same amount as before, I think. 1 or 2 covers at most.
KGB is KGB, obviously.
And finally, new batches.
I think it will be kinda like that.

Oh and Kubo... Idk, I don't think he will have too many cover/CP if lt's a long series (longer than a Modulo, I mean)

Hertz and Akane for sure will get more. They may give Kiyoshi and Shinobi another cover . Even though I’m remiss on the direction they’re going, I think UD has earned a cover too

This wouldn't really solve the problem of what to do about the regular rotation of covers, but I've always wanted them to do something like the old new years covers with all the mangaka together again.
Unlikely to ever happen, especially because a lot of the current batch of mangaka seem to prefer to not put their face out there, but just a pipe dream of mine.

2) Cannon: Yeah, this is definitely growing on me. At first I thought they were being reckless, but this is actually a great idea. If you defeat the main opponent, nobody else is going to question your leadership and you won't have to worry about people ignoring your orders in battle. And if you lose, then clearly you weren't ready for the job and you should let someone else take over for everyone's safety.

3) Roku: Just think about how much it would cost you if the thing only ate meat and you'll feel better. Poor Johan, his power transcends the myths. I wonder who the new guy is (a curse? Or an exorcist? The men picked up on his presence immediately, so he's probably no ordinary human).

4) Ichi: Online reactions to this chapter vary from "I adore her" to "I'm kind of on the World Hater's side now." In any case, it was interesting.

5) Kiyoshi: I'm glad they celebrate the 100th chapter! I'm a bit worried about Kiyoshi though. He's either losing touch with reality or taking a bunch of meat shields with him, and I'm not sure which I find worse. Then again, that woman is the worst tsundere ever, so I get why he'd be confused.

Shinobi: Haha! Accidental Casanova gave her a boost, huh? And the Male Chauvinist Pig TM got exactly what he asked for (though I still think he deserves a little credit for bringing out her brash side).

Dr: She's lucky she didn't kill one of her siblings. I liked the interactions between Haiji and Shuli (especially just before and after the first attack), but I would like to stress once again that the medical advice is to leave bullets where they are unless they are in the way of something important. Removing a bullet will do nothing to reduce bleeding and might in fact make it worse, so I don't get what the medical consultant is doing here.

OP: That was unexpected. So who's gonna be the next MC?

Drawn: Nice colour page. And nice chapter, too. It's nice to see them grow a little.

Nue: Nice throwback.

Sakamoto: That wasn't unexpected... but it was disappointing. The guy was super aware of his surroundings when he was eating in his shop in the first chapter, but now he turns his back to the enemy? Unless of course this is some kind of trick.

Akane: Rude.

Roboco: That last one got me.

BB: Are they bowing to the gym? Anyway, it's not bad, but it doesn't feel very special since we've had tons of chapters like this already. And I still don't get why they introduced a new (potential) love triangle / conflict last week only to ignore it completely.

Animal: In the first chapter, she was acting childish but still mature enough to realise her f*ck-ups were her own. Now she's just childish. Too bad, because the chapter was kinda charming otherwise. Formula: So he's extremely serious, a slow learner but practises a lot, loves his brother... Did I miss any character traits? Because the guy still feels so bland to me.

I think DttF is getting axed. It skimmed through this match.

You mocked them, but they did get sold very fast. The demand is high. This was in stock when I posted less than 1 hour ago. 30 pieces sold for 44444 yen. They made 35,444 yen profit. Because the cost of the magazine is 9000 yen (300yen x 30 )

FYI, a rent in Japan is maybe around 50k to 90k yen a month. Monthly salary is about 500k yen? Dude covered half of monthly rent / made 7% of monthly salary just doing this. Think about it

Just go to mercari.jp and you will see many listings get sold very, very fast

People are mocking scalpers from their moral high ground, but look at me in the eyes, and tell me honestly if you would reject any chance of literally covering your entire rent from just this.

Or are they literally buying EVERY volume of WSJ? Because in that case, it would make more sense to resell the magazine as a whole, since people can't get it otherwise.

Either way, this sounds like an excellent time for reprints. Scalping only works when there's a shortage, after all. Shueisha could make some extra money from this, and the scalpers will earn less once the market is flooded.

Correct me if i am wrong, but iirc people in Japan cannot read new chapters free unlike us foreigners? They need to either buy the magazine or subscribe?

MangaPlus isn't available in Japan, that's for sure.

Issue #33 rankings:

Tier 1 (Great):

1 - One Piece (Imu really hit Luffy with the "you're not him lil bro" wowza)
2 - Ichi the Witch (Yeah so if Dess dies, they're all fucked right? Like even if she temp dies, they all get released right? Oh boy...)
3 - Roku (Very funny chapter, I've grown to love this little family SO quickly. Interested to see if that's actually a proper villain at the end or not. I thought a few chapters ago there was potential for this series to have some actual battles, so let's see. It could be like Witch Watch for example, which would combine comedy and action..fitting since WW is ending soon! Speaking of Witch Watch...)
4 - Witch Watch (...it's up next! Good chapter. I thought it was a bit silly/convenient that they managed to teleport Hibana to Kokuryu literally 10 seconds before he passed, but the emotions still hit me anyway. Shikimi backstory next...I'm guessing Shikimi is also getting Moi's memories too right?)
5 - Akanebanashi (really thought Issho would come out and show them both up, but I guess not! And I like that he's come out to declare a definitive winner, he's right that just leaving it ambiguous and going for a "both did great!" thing is a bit insulting to them and their efforts)

Tier 2 (Good):

- Blue Box (what a ride! 5 years is crazy. Personally I'm not super into romcom type series, so I can't say this series left a huge impact on me or anything, but I still enjoyed it! My only disappointment is that we didn't get a Hyo/Akyame dedicated date chapter. Overall I give it 7/10)
- HAL Formula (very nice chapter, even if it was just training/set up. Art continues to be nice. I liked his strat with the chip on his glove)
- Canon Master (LOVED this chapter, was close to the top 5 for me. Like yeah it's just setup really, but for adventure fantasy series like this, the setups tend to be some of the best parts. Character designs look GREAT, I love them. More world building and expanding on how the Slayliths (still not a fan of this name, Lithslayer or something would have been better, just rolls off the tongue better) operate. The art for the capital is gorgeous and the double page spreads showing off the settings continue to have this grand feeling that a manga like this should! Good chapter!)
- Hunter x Hunter (This feels like the countdown during the Chimera Ant arc lol. I mean that in a good way ofc. The timeline is confusing me a bit but some re-reading and reading of other stuff online is helping me. A few chapters ago Benjamin hinted that a Prince died in between the time of that chapter and the latest, so I wonder who it'll be?)
- Ruri Dragon (Much like Roku, I think this series could maybe go the Hitman Reborn/Witch Watch route of still being comedic but having action)
- Kiyoshi (Tsundere grandma is killing me, what a great idea. Looks like we're setting up for the final Great Demon Lord. Happy 100 chapters!)
- Under Doctor (quite liked this chapter, it's nice to give Shuli some time to shine. I think this was based off of a real like Russian doctor who self operated? Not sure. I actually quite like the Assassin Siblings that showed up this chapter, they give big Jiggle Butt Gang energy (any Rave readers out there?) I'd be fine with them being recurring comedic jobber type villains lol)

Tier 3 (Ok):

- Someone Hertz (it's worst chapter for a while imo, because I just don't really like Nacchi if I'm being honest. A 23 year old woman shouldn't be doing what she's doing here and having it portrayed as cute. If she were a 23 year old guy doing it, everyone would call it creepy, so it's creepy. Still, Mimei and Mizuo's "date" was cute and I liked that it was all to get Nacchi a present in the end, so)
- Shinobi Undercover (Like Someone Hertz, this was its worst chapter in a while for me. I get the smash cuts were supposed to be comedic, but it didn't work for me, instead it just felt like we rushed through the whole thing, actually rushing through things is gonna be a common thing in this part of my rankings lol)
- Drawn to the Fire (felt like it was picking up steam and then this chapter kinda just rushes through their first game. I did like Okada having a flash of a future that could have been, but that's it)
- Kinato's Magic (pretty anticlimatic ending to the arc and said ending was clearly rushed as well. Now we're facing the main villains who showed up a few arcs ago, so this is maybe axed and they'll have Kinato fight the guy he lost to a while back as the final fight...but we'll see)
- Nue's Exorcist (Zenno the goat! I still think this manga would have benefitted greatly from making Zenno an Exorcist and giving Gakuro a bromance type friendship in and among all the harem stuff tbh)
- Me and Roboco
- Sakamoto Days (Sakamoto's whole "don't kill, you'll be as bad as them if you do" is something he's been doing since chapter 1, so I don't have a problem with him saying it and sticking to it (even though I don't and never have agreed with that) but I DO have a problem with him trying to force that ideal onto others and then when challenged on it, going "nuh-uh" as a response lol. Anyway, I give this max 5 more chapters)
- Animal Signal (one of it's funnier chapters so far imo, I enjoyed the image of the zoo keeper being a samurai lol, the Kokone serious faces are probably the comedic highlights of the series to me so far and the animal facts continue to be fun)
- Class 2-B (After several chapters of upswing imo, this was back to being bleh. It's basically just a whole chapter of them doing the training stuff they did last chapter except less fun because we've seen it already. I did enjoy them giving names to all the abilities though...also no way the power to open curtains is not gonna be OP somehow later on lol, because what counts as a "curtain"?)




I had a LOT of thoughts this issue, some good and some bad haha, but overall I think this was one of the better issues of the magazine for a while!

Natsukomi card and the WSJ One Piece card are different

The One Piece card is included in EVERY WSJ volume of that specific issue.

One natsucomi card is given at random out of 22 possible designs, for every purchase of ANY Shueisha manga. Out of all 22 designs, the OP design is most desirable. But it is only 1 in 22 chance of getting OP design. Which is why people mass buy (it is like gacha...)

And no, it is 100% NOT making sense to sell the magazine with the card. Because the magazine is very bulky and heavy which means significantly extra shipping fees. That is why people discard the magazine once the card is taken.

To come back to the scalpers situation, it would be interesting to track if paper Jump sells more or less after that, because I see numerous posts of Japanese people saying they were buyers of paper Jump, like, every week for 20 or 30 years, but they won't buy it from now anymore because they couldn't buy it this week.

Humans are creatures of habit. You broke them and you pay the price (maybe?).

Tho, to a newbie WSJ series, getting a hiatus still almost means getting axed, unless it's Ruri, so many wouldn't take the risk even if their body screams.
