He Ki is just a real bro to the end. I think the only criticism with him is the ridiculous plot armor he has at times (Have no earthly idea how he survived the hellish life in that prison arc). But all in all a character who represents the best parts of the manga.

Kyou Kai, I like her character, but I feel like she was more entertaining in her introduction arc/chapters. Also not such a fan of the romance with Shin, it muddles down her character some. That whole sister arc as well was so silly in hindsight, extremely pointless.

It's the lord of death! And our highest ranked female character! I did NOT expect her above Kyoukai but I suppose it was close with 1 point difference.
I quite like her but somehow evaded my list, maybe didn't have too many scenes lately

Oh...

I honestly don't know if she'll be back. I mean, if Kaine can tank two arrows to the throat so should the mountain king. And yet the mountain tribe is being suspiciously pushed out of relevance. Surely its too early for her to retire, but idk about history spoilers regarding her. Mouten/Ouhon/Shin still don't feel threatening enough to replace her.

Anyway back to her.

Very strong fighter, perhaps the strongest of all the mountain people? Shin stopped her before she could fight Houken but I honestly think she would have given him quite a fight, especially with his one arm broken at the time.

Lol Tiger slayer guy is either a wimp or Mantanwa is just that strong.

And while she doesn't quite employ traditional tactics she has her fair share of strategical moves to surprise even Shunsuiju. Though I'm not sure how much of it is her ideas and how much that new tribe introduced this arc(I dont like em). Does a surprisingly high amount of baiting.

They should be the mightiest army, but they got pretty sidelined ever since Shukai plains.

The way she handled Riboku glazer #57 was really satisfying too.

Hopefully we get to see more of her still this arc, I'd love her to be the one to defeat Shunsuiju. Depends what else happens this arc and if we ever leave Shin focus.

And I loved all his interactions with Shin. If Ouki was the mentor, he was the dad.

He was taken from us in spectacular Houken BS, but his actions are the reason Shin and everyone managed to delay and stop Riboku at Sai. Where no other general even knew what Riboku is up to.

Tou is so awesome I dont know if I have the vocabulary to properly explain. Such a class act at all times, cheerful at all times and yet a major presence on the field. For a long time I just saw him as an Ouki remnant but he is every bit his master's equal imo.

Faru faru intensifies.

He mows down soldiers like no other, he's not even slowed down during it, while still easily beating strong generals 1v1 like the 1st army general of Chu.

Also, whats up with Gohoumei thinking he is rivals with Tou :lmao

Just because Tou completely demolished him one time? Eh. It's kinda cute how much he puts him on a pedestal.

Anyway he truly is he most "everything" guy Qin has, in no area is he lacking. Strong himself(even Moubu can't deny when Tou was putting himself as Moubu's equal in power), strong army, smart and strategical, good eye for people and talent... He truly had no flaws.
I know its based on history but it's such a major shame he retires in Han, Riboku truly got away with never having to face Tou or Moubu. I love Rokuomi but he's not even half of a Tou in any field.

Him rizzing up the princess, as the youth would say, to take a whole country. He makes it look too easy.

Also he's hilarious but I can't find all the panels I'm vaguely remembering, but here have this part here:

Him and Ouki truly were a wonderful duo.

The king's sword! Quite a high placement for our protagonist. Sure he has countless dumb moments but despite that you just can't help but love Shin and root for him. His heart is in the right place and he tries really hard.

Leader of the Hi Shin Unit, which has a bunch of colorful guys and girls.

Being the protagonist there's a whole manga full of his scenes and things he did so I can't possibly mention it all. He was in pretty much every arc. Would be too long to even list my favorite scenes because he has a lot of them I like. Lets see..

1. Telling RIboku to get stuffed in Sai

R word Shin, please..

Riboku got shaken

2. Attempting to confront Ryo Fui

Well, he tried. I absolutely loved it, after Sei Kyou's death, that someone at least attempts to give him some trashtalking, but the man known as Ryo Fui didn't budge at all.

3. Saving Ei Sei's daughter

I know post-Sai/post-Gaimou Shin is nothing to scoff at, but it's still fairly early in the story, and having Shin effortlessly demolish that poser coup ringleader while outnumbered was a great sight. No horse, no glaive, no allies to assist him, just showing he's a cut above.

4. Kokuyou scenes

Did not expect him to beat Keisha, he felt like he'd be a recurring opponent(basically what Shunsuiju is now). Very cool.

Absolutely blasting Raido into the orbit. While Shin is very naive, it felt great for him and Kyoukai to confront Kanki and his goons here.

But like shino said above, it's not all nice with Shin. He shows an infuriating lack of progress and development. Stopped being a slave but still dresses and behaves dumb, giving the reader second hand embarrassment whenever he's in important meetings with other important people. It certainly feels like the only thing he improved over the years in physical power and experience, everything else stagnated many many arcs ago.

Though the physical power is quite top tier

He had a brief stint of being a mini Duke Hyou in Shukai Plains, using his instincts and being an actual general. But since then he's been mostly regressing and failing left and right in terms of leading. He still fights well but he's not quite being a "general" which irks me...

But there's plenty of story left for us to get here. Though it's a miracle he made it to general with his lack of strategy, it's a lot thanks to Ten, Kyoukai and all his capable soldiers.

He's way too funny and too good for only 4th. Let me at least say that he has the most # of players that gave him points or HM, with a total of 11/12 players in this game acknowledging Ousen which is almost every single player, 10 with points and 1 with HM. Second closest to that was Shin with also 11/12 players mentioning him but he had 8 points, 2 HMs and one DM.

So that alone should speak for how great this guy is, he may have lost out via total points but he's loved by more people than the final 3 characters with more points.

Copium aside, lets talk about OUSEN.

I feel like Hara absolutely loves drawing Ousen and his helmet because there's countless panels just zooming into Ousen's face and they each go very hard.

You get the point. Super cool guy. Not one of many words though, so him being amazing is mostly off of hype and less his actual actions. He had 2 amazing showings, 1 in coalition arc outplaying Ordo severely and saving Qin, and 2 the entire Shukai plains arc where he confronts Riboku and employs his locust strategy to "eat out" the fortress city of Gyou.

But one could also say most of the time his strategy is to do absolutely nothing.

Which worked in Gyou in regards to the right wing, but not so much in Gian and Hango where his inaction just leads to losses.

But nevermind such small things like severe losses. He is still cool and supposedly top tier general. He also absolutely hates his son which is so blatant it becomes hilarious. Actually Ousen is an absolute goofball.

I laughed so hard when he attempted to recruit Riboku, and of course it failed. He did the same with Renpa's cool bow general, he could've killed him but because he wants to be a Fire Emblem protagonist he tries to recruit, fails and the general lives and continues to be a problem. He even tried to recruit that bum Ordo who would've made his army weaker(clearly doesn't have Mougou's eyes for talent) and failed/lost his own soldiers in the attempt. Such a silly man.

And then when he had to run away from Renpa he holes up forever on a rock. I know they praised his fortress building skills but it looked so funny for a man being hyped that arc to resort to camping on a spot, becoming absolutely useless and nearly being the cause for Qin's loss.

At least it made for an amazing looking panel.

So to conclude, Ousen, what a guy. Severely in need of looking good this current arc I feel, but we're a bit too Shin focused for the last many months.

Nfufufufu!

Impressive 3rd place finish for a character that hasn't been in the story for like 800 chapters! Only the brief flashback and one panel mention here and there. No doubt he is the greatest general in Kingdom, along with Renpa the final 2 giants of the wild era from before the start of Kingdom. At the start of Kingdom nobody else was on their level.

But even in personality he is extremely charming, not even Tou is on his charm level.

I like how they tried to make him look evil at first, he certainly looks the part.

He was our first good look at what it truly means to be a great general.

He was crushing it in Bayou where we are first shown his skills as a general.

He never actually mentored Shin, and yet still gave him some great words here and there.

He is also incredibly powerful. Certainly above Houken which places him with pretty much nobody who can defeat him in a 1v1.

Well, the final two are probably not a mystery. Kanki and Mouten. Which of them will be first place and which one second? One final post left to devote to those 2.
