Help [JP] The Official Kanji Ask-for-Help Thread

The first one means "to go against" (反く、probably having the same meaning as 叛く) The second one means "to steal" (or "to go unnoticed", but this doesn't seem to be the case here) 盗む Hope this helps...

    Done This one sentence

Well, the literal translation would be "That is that And that is this." If it does not make sense in the context, then I guess more info would be helpful...

    Done [JP]Help with sentence

Perhaps it helps if we break down the last sentence like this: はぁ? でもま、 なんとなくでも覚えてくれてた分 マシかな It means something like: "Huh? Oh well, at least you did remember, vaguely as it seems".

Done [JP] Need help with sentences

This seems fine to me. I guess it's the same sentence. Therefore, it would be something like "Do you really know what you are saying, Brother Petros?" Hope this helps...

If they are from the same manga, feel free to post here. If they are from other manga, then I guess it's better to open a new thread.

Done [JP] Sentences in polite and archaic language

About the first tidbit: Probably, it's still Mary who's talking (not Virgil), since the translation of 我が王都に 巣 喰う おぞまし き 吸血鬼よ。 is something like "O dreadful vampire, you who has found your lair in our Capital". The second tidbit seems okay to me.

Done [JP] Need help with sentences

Some quick and dirty suggestions: "I cannot accept (you?) ordering the soldiers to retreat just based on the heat of the moment." (or based on what you saw at the scene etc. - change this part as you see fit for the dialogue) How about something like "Do you think that such puny arguments are...

Done けじめ? What does it mean in this context?

The line それが人の世のけじめだ! can be translated as something along the lines of "That's (Ieyasu's death in order to liberate the countless souls consumed by hatred) how things are (should be) settled down (among human beings) in this world!" The "kejime" in this context means that the right solution...

Done Do you know what あどっせいっ could stand for?

Actually, it's あ どっせいっ The 『あ』 holds no particular meaning. And 『どっせい』 is a kind of a call/shout, just like "Wasshoi". Hope this helps...

    Done Help with sentence

Yes, it's a wordplay with "osu!" from karate. Wordplays are some of the most difficult things to translate from one language to another, and one can find more than one possible translation. A quick suggestion, along the lines of your translation, could be something like: -そ そうですけど あなたたちは。。。? -...

Done [JP] need help with a sentence and a word

I don't read this manga, so I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that いつもどおり 一発いっときゃ よかった goes along the lines of I should have said (or whatever action the character usually does) a thing or two as always! And ポヤン is indeed a SFX, used when a thought comes to mind. Hope this helps!

Done [JP] Help with a few phrases

A quick and dirty response :P 香澄さんはオヤジの秘書でウチの家政婦さん週3回くらい来てもらってる あ でも数週間前から週1にしてもらった Kasumi-san is my father’s secretary and she comes three times a week as a housekeeper (great trans! :super) Ah, but we requested and since a few weeks ago, she started coming once a week (only) (something along...
