Agree, The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground and Grateful Dead should’ve gotten points for sure. They were all on my Runner-up list (I’m pretty sure). Like I said, I had to make a choice between Stones, Kinks and the one that’s yet to come. Velvet Underground is so awesome and groundbreaking in their own way but couldn’t fit them on there. :/

Agreed. There were so many awesome bands I wanted to include, the Stones almost made it on mine as well but In the end there were simply too many picks and only so many spots

Agree with every single one. Though I haven’t activel listened to neither Kiss, Ramones and Black Sabbath in years they’re all still such titans.

Well, that word doesn’t really suit The Ramones I guess, but they’re still damn good at what they did.

As for N.W.A. and Public Enemy not getting points... blame @gnut.

The Top Ten Bands will be revealed tomorrow!

[Hermit]

Oh fuck, Evanescence didnt make top 10

Oh fuck, Evanescence didnt make top 10

Tbh, while they're iconic in their own way I don't think they're worthy of the overall top 10 if you compare them to those amazing bands still in the running. Deserved this spot.

Dude, the fact that they made it this high is crazy enough as it is. Not to be a judge-mcjudgepants or anything, just saying there are literally dozens of bands out already who are widely regarded as much more diverse and established “classics” than Evanescence and Nightwish and stuff.

I never personally got into either one of those two much, too “gothic and whiny” for me back when I listened to metal the most. My sister was a huge fan of both though so I’ve had to endure a lot of it through the floorboards (maybe that’s part of my slight bias against them).

At least two of my nominees made it. The two most obvious ones.

Are you referring to the rest of your nominations?

Even outside my remaining ones, there are a lot I haven't seen yet but are still awesome

[Xadyu]

I might react later on this, already suspected my number 1 pick didn't get any other votes, it's a shame. I think a lot of you would love them.

[Brandish μ]

Skillet

Led Zeppellin and Pink Floyd not making it to the top 10, and chosen by one person, is pretty hilarious xD Well, I can't throw stones I didn't choose them either. @Organizized I'm sure you watched that doco "It might get loud" since it has Page and Jack White, that alone would sell it for you (I'm not big on White personally but he is certainly a great musician). Anyways, there's a part where Page plays Whole Lotta Love that I mainly remember because White and The Edge can't help but fanboy

Alice in Chains beating Nirvana is a surprise. There aren't many people in this so these things happen. AiC are godly in my eyes Still doing well imo, Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is a good album.

TLC are so good that I had a crush on all 3 members simultaneously; even if Left-Eye was the mainest one. CrazySexyCool would make a top 10 Albums Game for me or go very close.

RATM went above 10 points This is the type of band you listen to when you're around 13 or so and get hooked. The riffs + those politically/socially charged lyrics captured that time imo when you're at that age where your mind is expanding. They're still good to listen to now.

Dream Theater, didn't expect them be picked and nearly left them off. I don't realise how much I like them til I consider my CD collection, and lately I've been listening to them a bit. A couple of their albums would be my faves too (if I could fuse the song Metropolis pt 1 with the album Metropolis pt 2 Scenes from a Memory, I'd have a bonafide top 5 all time album).

Not looking good for Iron Maiden, but got the more obvious/popular one left

Exactly this. One of few such bands I can actually listen to seriously even now for more than a few songs. They’re so intense.

Dream Theater, to me, is just a whole bunch of “look how fast and technically complicated we are at playing ALL THE TIME”, and it just strikes zero emotion from me, but I’ve never been much of a fan of progressive metal anyway. I respect that they are indeed technically skilled musicians beyond belief.

[Farfalla]

I used to like TLC as well but I kinda blocked them in my mind after the tragedy ._. too sad.

Metallica

Even though I don't listen to them now compared when I was younger, their songs are pretty amazing, so it's nice to see them in the Top 10.
