All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread 2007

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

This is from Volume 4 of the Eureka Seven manga, hope you enjoy it.

harmd, I am so blown away by your entries, and this one is the best I've seen *_* It looks professionally done, almost like a poster. I enjoy the synthesis of the colors too.

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

Waaa I lost my sketch-book

Luckily I took a picture it before using my friend camera.

Colored Entry:

Btw, could anybody tell me on how to show the image from the url above in this thread?

Because your image is on Deviantart, you cannot show your image. They do this to conserve bandwidth. If you want to show a preview, upload the file to some site like Imageshack, Photobucket, GreatestJournal or LiveJournal, and use the with [ ] instead of < > to show the image.

Re: Amateur Manga Coloring of the Week Voting Details!!

Just thought I should point out that miranu's colouration is Tyki from D.Gray-man, not 666 Satan.

Already updated the nominee's list.

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

Voting has become so much more complicated
I liked it when there was a thread with all the nominees, but I cannot ever find it for the current week anymore. I only see the old closed threads.

[Sarada]

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

Voting is closed atm ... just remember those threads, and when the contest is over, they are open again, and all the entries are posted.

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

uuuhmmmm...
why do the last two links in the amateur coloring contest polls point to the same KH coloring??? I thought the very last one should be one piece.

Re: Amateur Manga Coloring of the Week Voting Details!!

<_<

*whispers*

[SIZE=-6]PSsst....Clarity....the link for kaizoku_chopper's submission is not working. It looks like there might be a url tag that was not closed before it. I would fix it but I dont know the url for kaizoku's submission. [/SIZE]

>_>

...ok someone was cool enough to send me the link for kaizoku's submission. I went ahead and fixed the links. =)

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

Damn... it's hard to choose which one's the best this week O___O

For me, top 4:

In no particular order:

Sarada
Sabyr
Vhea
TRIP

>_< Hard... but Trip's is really really nice o_o well...

All 4 has their own misgivings, imo o_o it's a really tough choice >_<

[Baka Taichou]

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

I think vhea's coloring is the best and after her I like TRIP's and sabyr's entries too ^^

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

There are simply too many good colorings in this weeks advanced coloring contests!
I had the hardest of times making up my mind who to pick. It is sometimes too cruel forcing us to only chose one.
If I could have nominated a top three I would have picked casper's miranu's and TRIP's submissions. All three of the m floored me but I ended up voting for TRIP because I usually do not like the art style of one piece but his coloring still made an instant lasting impression on me.

Re: All-Purpose Contest Discussion Thread!

thank you for the praise. But I have to point out that I am female.

Edit: and the be more on subject, I voted for casper's submission. It has a well thought-out atmosphere that's constant from panel to panel. The other one panel front pages I see in Naruto artwork don't really give off the impression that they're a piece of 'manga' more than colored linework. Bless the people that color them, I'm sure they turn out amazing, but the best thing about coloring manga artwork is finding a page with panels in it (it can only be two, or even a two page spread) and challenging yourself to control a unique atmosphere and stick your style ontop of it. People that have the gift of controlling atmosphere and making the linework theirs (in essence), are the people that impress me.

great job casper!
