Fortunately, it is not like it is actually in the power of the american president to do stuff like that.
Well, that is true for now. But that doesn't mean trump couldn't undermine and damage US institutions. In attacking lawyers the guy shows that he doesn't even care (and perhaps does not understand) people's basic right to a fair trial. In his mind he will be getting rid of conspirators and traitors (not, say, people). And having an US president who does not care about this sort of thing is kinda terrifying. Given trump's rhetoric, he could make reagan's presidency look honest in comparison.

Well, i guess it is time to thank women about being the smart voters in the US.
It is pretty funny that trump would win the election if only men voted.
I guess there are tangible good things coming from feminism.

But you encourage policies that make them unable to do so.
You imply that they are 'lazy' if they cannot get out of a bad job, but this is just a flat out lie.
But they are lazy, how else would explain being unable to get out of a bad job. Getting a job is not something someone thrusts at someone, someone has to go out and apply and do the whole job application process.

Because good jobs are not just lying on the street.
How is a thirty year old person who had no higher education going to get a better job if he has responsibilities and needs one or even two jobs for those to get by?
He won't even have the money to get more education in your country. He has to indebt himself with a high interest rate and risk the whole existance of his or her family.

Education loans are not high interest rate additionally, they can spend time while in school working to pay for any unforeseen costs. A sacrifice of four years will be worth it for the financial stability afterwards. 4 years will go by fast.

They are, at least compared to most other western countries.
If you cannot get by without having two jobs (and it is you after all who thinks you should not be able to make a living of burgers), you can definitely not get by by having to give up at least one of those to get higher education.
It is also pretty clear that your grades suffer if you have to work while studying.

You simply do not have years to sacrifice if you have a family to feed.
Noone simply indebts their family to such a high degree to take a chance like that.
And if they do, they have a VERY HIGH cahnce to fail.

I dont think it is as hard as you say to have two or even three jobs. These jobs dont require much brain power and often are simple and monotonous in nature. For example, bagging fries or taking peoples orders or answering the phone is not something that is exhausting or tiring. So to go to school on top of that is not diffficult. High schools students work jobs and still go to high school afterall, so if high school students can do it, then so can adults. Not having two or three of these basic jobs is lazy especially one who uses an excuse to not be enrolled in an accredited four year university.

But it is. Exspecially monotonous jobs are straining your psyche. The time you waste on those two jobs alone make it absolutely impossible to stuyd, leave alone the exhaustion they bring. And as i said, we assume you also have to do stuff for your kids.

Doing fries IS exhausting. Standing behind a counter nonstop IS exhausting.
One part time job is another thing than two and a half or even two fulltime jobs. And some people have to take those.

Did you ever study? It is just a fact that grades suffer if you work parttime in most cases, and if you have to do two jobs it is impossible to study well, leave alone if you have a family to support.

You mean 3rd wave feminism?... The 1st and 2nd waves definitely did have "tangible good things" come out of them; women's suffrage and equal pay, among other things.

Tuition is pretty expensive, even without a high interest loan.
(FYI: http://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=76)

Also, in the scenario @shionoro is talking about, you don't have much free time/cash for college. I can't help but feel like situations like that are avoidable, but whether or not it could have been avoided doesn't change the predicament.

You sound like you haven't worked jobs like that before... While it's true that, chances are, the only thing that'll be tired/sore by the end of the day are you feet, that doesn't mean that the job isn't mentally draining. Doing monotonous tasks can be very draining.

I worked in a fast food joint and I never thought standing and making friends was exhausting or that taking orders and serving people was preventing me from maintaining my valedictorian status in high school. So I cant understand how one would imagine working a job would be taxing enough to make studying and doing school work exhausting. Its not like schoolwork is even that challenging.

If they are struggling then they can always higher a tutor.

So, you're saying all they need to do is maybe only work one minimum wage (or not much higher than that) job, take out some loans for 4 years in college, and hire + spend time with a tutor when before they were just barely scraping by when they worked 2 jobs?

I think they could work at least 2 jobs (one to pay for living costs and take care of family, another for paying some to their college costs and supplies),, go to school full time, take maybe a third job if they need to pay for tutoring services or have car and other bills.

3 jobs? How many hours are there in a day in the planet you come from?

Full-time student, full-time student tuition, tutor, go to tutor regularly, 3 jobs, car, other bills.

That's either a dream or a nightmare, but it sure as hell isn't the real world... I don't think you're actually considering the time/money this stuff would take.. Let's do a quick looksy at just the time:

full time student: """12""" credit hours which also means AT LEAST 1 more hour for each spent in class which comes out to 24 hours
1 hour with a tutor
40 hours at the 1st job
40 hours at the 2nd job
40 hours at the 3rd job
49 hours of sleep each week (bare minimum)
119 waking hours

Oh, as it turns out, that person would have -26 hours to spare (not including transportation times). Boy is my face red.

No, i am a defender of third wave feminism. I even opened a feminism thread <:

Tutors cost money too. And you probably worked part time there. That is one parttime job when you are young and have no toher responsibilities and just want some more money.

It is a very different thing if you need the money or you cannot feed your kids. It is also another thing if you dont just talk with your friends and come home, but you have to study well (and mind you, school is nothing compared to university) AND care for your family.
That is a situatino you simply have never been in.

Oh? Guess I'll take a look at that later then. My mind isn't entirely made up on 3rd wave feminism

It's not a very informative thread yet <.<
But it can totally get there !

There are a lot of tocix things in the feminist community, but all in all, i do think third wave feminism is important.
Exspecially because the toxic things in it are things you find in other movements too.
So if we learn how to get arround those in feminism, we have a good blueprint to circumvent them in other issues.

Each job would be part time since I dont think there are full time non management positions at fast food joints or grocery stores etc, and theyd have to be part time in order to fit it into their school schedule (+ if they were full time the job would have to give them benefits they dont deserve). So reducing it to 20 hours per job, theyd have at least 40 hours of leisure time, so they could pick up extra work hours.
