Am I wrong here or did Putin admit to wanting Ukraine and some other countries back under Russia?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Obviously, I"m saying that the Democratic politicians are full of shit and that they're actually not defunding the police, they're doing the opposite. It's the centrists and the right that are too stupid to notice that and think Dems are about defunding and weren't lying. They were talking about defunding for the first few months of protests, but after that died that, they did the opposite. At this point, anything short of sucking the cops' dicks won't be accepted by anyone that's not to the left of center or know how shitty the cops are.
I think life is way more complicate than that. In some places, there are certain crime that are decriminalize and or the bar is moved up higher such as thief in California. Or less police monitoring such as New York city. Resulted in more property crimes, or crimes against Asian Americans. Those things changed public opinion. Bond for example is discriminatory against poor people. But bond is there to put dangerous individuals in jail while waiting for trial. And or prevent people from fleeing the state/country. I don't mind raising bond up for rich people. But BLM for example just whole sale paid off bonds left and right can be very dangerous. It was a huge talking point of the danger of lower bond in the wisconsin christmas parade attack. So here we got public opinions and real changes toward the left in term of bond in that local place. And afterward, there will be a backlash. Things may not revert back to normal, it could go further in the opposite direction. Hell, rioting and looting may played into why Minneapolis where George Floyd died failed to do this whole defunding the police. Cops suck, criminals suck, politicians suck, people suck in general. If we somehow able to balance them all out would be good.

Defunding the police is not the solution. Heck more "training" may not even be a solution consider how people viewed about those powerpoint sessions as tedious (doesn't matter what field you are in. And it didn't do anything for the Ulvade school shooting. People on the right say looks how much the cops suck, hence they need more guns for self protection. Even before George Floyd, one of my navy buddy who is black and really really don't like cop. He is huge on gun because he would rather deal with home intruder than calling the cops and risk getting shoot at himself. More guns of course, ain't the solution. I rather want a functional, professional, moral police system.

I want to have tougher penalty on police. If they turn off their body cam, punished them harshly. At this point, we cannot tolerate how body cam is conveniently turned off at critical moment. Have a new branch of government that task with keeping all other branches accountable including all public officials like polices. Pit them against each others. Remove some of these legal protection from the polices. Made their punishment even harsher due to their public role. I don't mind being harsher on crime. We can only go so far. But boy, a public whipping of these mass shooter. Hell even public hanging would do wonder to destroy any of these fantasy. But that is not the route for the USA. In norway, there was a shooting that killed 70+ people. And their max sentence was like 20 something years in jail. And their jail is like paradise compare to USA prison. The shooter, I remember complaining about how his playstation is not up to date in jail. That was seriously piss me off.

The legal system should not just about "Justice," it should also help maintain order in society. And it also need to satisfy some level of need of vengeance for the family. Or else that system would just push for vigilante justice.

Pretty much. Before he talked about this is more or less a nostalgic manner. As the war started he started talking about the russian sphere of influence... And his more recent comments suggest he straight up wants to recover former soviet territory. Which is of course pure, abject, insanity. That said, russia does not currently have the military capacity to pull this off. Given how many loses the russians have taken in ukraine this sounds more like putin just kicking the hornets nest for.. reasons?

No it won't. If anything, it'll convince them to kill themselves.

The solution doesn't make sense either when you consider just how armed the police and the government are. NOthing stops them from bombing areas like Philly cops did to a Philly house.

That's impossible. It's not going to happen, and it'll never happen without a serious overhaul. They have too much power and know they can get away with so much.

And afterward, there will be a backlash.
I'm glad someone acknowledges this.

There are many in politics who are using the same flawed tactics and strategy they used unsuccessfully in 2016.

They don't seem to realize the backlash they cause is alienating their own support base.

more "training" may not even be a solution
The gun training test for american police in some areas is.

They must successfully shoot a big target 10 feet away with 50% to 60% accuracy.

Their training standards are lower than most might expect.

Standards for civilian police forces are typically even lower.

The legal system should not just about "Justice," it should also help maintain order in society. And it also need to satisfy some level of need of vengeance for the family. Or else that system would just push for vigilante justice.
It really should.

You're not getting it with the current apparatus, so the other option is "reform" that they have no hand in, aka defunding.
Yes I can, I can push lawmakers to make laws that are harsher toward police. Remove legal protection, passed laws that punished certain type of behaviors. You can also elect Attorney General. Police is a local issue.

I do not like simple slogan. I also don't like when people instead of focusing in one problem, branches out into a million problems. Like defunding the police. And sometimes, I am question the motive behind the leaders of these movement. Take for the example the BLM leader who was on the news for stealing millions from BLM donation fund. She was on Trevor Noah's Daily Show. And I believe Trevor asked her along the like so what happened in between the defunding part and getting another system set up. Since the inbetween is when chaos gonna took place. And she blah blah blah out the usual talking point and branching out to EDUCATION, and HEALTHCARE, FOOD, and DIGNITY, blah blah blah.

If the problem is the polices' behaviors. Then you have to tackle that. Have a way to punish them. This is like when school shooting happen, the right wing version of Patrisse Cullors talking about this happened because there is nolonger prayer in school. That school is teaching woke, leftist agenda. That for decades now the left removing the value of life aka abortion. That they let anyone and everyone across border aka immigration. And one representative even incorrectly said the shooter is a trans illegal alien aka trans issue.

You have to tackle one problem at a time. This lady got a lot of money donate to her for black causes. She could have use this money to build center that tutor kids after school (education), or set up food center (aka food), or establish a fund for people who need healthcare. And this is all black community issues. Because to be prank, police problem is not just a black problem. It is EVERYONE's problem, but presence it impacted black Americans the MOST. All the solutions seemed like she want to just doing a wealth transfer to the BLACK's community. Polices are supposed to be there to protect EVERYONE hence the Asian and African American community tend to have very different view of police. Hence following George Floyd, not just hate crime attacks but property crime, thief, arm robbery, assaults aiming at Asian Americans when way up when polices stop patrolling certain areas. And Funding the police is TAX MONEY from everyone, for a service. And that service supposed to be for everyone, and people didn't pay their tax so that their money go to fund education/healthcare/blah blah that outside of their community.

Even this lady herself didn't believe in the words that came out of her mouth. She misused the fund for her own benefits. And then when called out on it. She called it white guilt money. When she stole it from BLACK COMMUNITY.

Americans are weird. I was born outside of the USA, and raised outside of the USA before coming here at the age of 11. I went through the public school system. In my country, during my time, there are children labor away. Some wanted to go to school. But they can't because they can't afford it. They need to go out on the street to beg, to do child labor, to sell stuffs to tourists. We, in the USA, had free education from grade 1 to 12. And that is not even utilized correctly, Now people talked about free college, blanket free higher education (where I believe in a conditional higher education). So what? So people go there community college and take 9th grade math, and 10th grade science class? The amount of people who slept through grade 1 to 12 astounding me.

So this school is terrible. But where was the mom? She blamed the school that her child failed. Not just her, because her son passed only 3 classes in high school with a gpa 0.13 out of 4 is top half. Where are all of the moms/dads in this district? Where was she through those 4 years of high school. How did she not know how terrible her child is at school. Why is this a shock. You would think that her child failed an exam, she would know. But it came as a surprise to her that her kid had to repeat the whole entire high school again. She blamed the school. I blamed her parenting. Hell, in this day and age. And access to the library, if you had enough drive, you can teach yourself almost everything. Especially with the right guidance.

My policies would been strengthen grade 1 to 12. Hold parents accountable. Something Kamala Harris did in California as Attorney General earning the wrath of the progressive saying she want to lock up low income, parents of color blah blah blah. Kamala Harris faced with a dilemma that was low attendance rate. School got funding via attendance. It became a problematic thing when students missing over 10% of the school year. School is losing funding. Parents don't keep watch over their children. The children are unprepared for higher education. So she charged parents with misdemeanor. Guess what as the Attorney General (the boss of all polices in California). She got the attendance RATE UP, and NO parents went to jail. And as for higher education, I will use that to change society. Say, you lacking doctors in native american places, or you lack teachers in rural America or inner cities. Then, I would say, if people want free college for a certain degree then they had to sign up to go to particular places and provide services for X amount of years. Conditional free college.

Doesn't matter how much money you threw at a problem if parents are not parenting. Hell why is it dirt poor country children who went to school over in those country can out do some of these first world American kids at math.

Then there is Health care. Obesity and consumerism is a problem. I am not gonna go to this can of worms since this post is long enough. But people need to be more proactive in their lives. The government can help, but there is a limitation to those help to get real changes if the people don't do the hard work.

Who enforces those laws? The same police that already protect their own over citizens and routinely fails at all forms of accountability?

A separate department. That was from my first post on the thread. A COMPLETELY different department. IN old chinese shows, there is branch where they investigate corruption within the government. And this branch should applied for all government officials including polices.

And the "legal protection" aka qualified immunity. That can be done via voting in the right people. If you got enough single issue voter then it could come true. The failure of the BLM movement was all about branding. Police brutality can be universal. The more you brand it out as a everybody's issue, the more supports you can get. BLM maybe the greatest failure of branding ever for the largest civil right movement. Once they fell to the All Lives Matter troll, and the convo got rerouted to just the rebranding. They lost.

By training, I was in the navy. I am talking about these sexual assault training. Or race sensitivity training. Where it is power point and what not. I guess, providing info and awareness is always good. But if it became tedious, people tuning out completely. This what happened with like the subway thing.

It reminded me of the McDonald hot coffee deal. Where that incident may not exactly be systematic. But they did it for public relation.

In term of the police, it is systematic. However, training require money. And if all these training had not yield the result that we want. Then we just wasting money. May as well use a stick in carrot and stick.

"Voting in the right people" is easier said than done. If a system is reformed it's because the power-holders allow it. As unreasonable and naive "defund the police" sounds on it's own to some, expecting a productive level of oversight and reform from creating another agency existing in the same framework is naive to me as well. The entire criminal justice system aids in keeping the status quo as well.

The failure of the BLM movement was all about branding.

BLM ideology and implementation ran contrary to minority values and culture.

The majority of BLM leaders and activists were not minorities, they were white people like Shaun King.

Then there were the politics of BLM were which horrible for minorities on every level.

Okay, in what sense?
It should've been called All Lives Matter.

Black Lives Matter isn't inclusive enough of other ethnic groups and minorities, its too extremist a stance for most who lean more moderate.

The name alone would not appeal to more than a tiny fringe minority.

Flawed from day 1.

That's just factually incorrect lol
How?

And what were those politics and how were they horrible for minorities on every level?
Can anyone name a single thing BLM did for minorities?

With the millions of dollars they collected and massive support they enjoyed.

What did they do that minorities can be proud of?

Can anyone name a single thing.

To say the least.

You don't grasp the point of it being called BLM then. It's not about "minority values and culture" in the first place, it was about holding police accountable for violence against black people. What even is "minority values and culture"?

How is it not being "inclusive enough" according to you make it "too extremist"? Explain

And yet it became so extremely popular cringe corporate activism got involved, despite only appealing to a "tiny fringe minority"

Look at a list of any of the founders of the BLM organization and they're not "all like Shaun King", they're black.

Can anyone name a single thing BLM did for minorities?

To say the least.
Are we talking about the movement or the organization?

Black people don't have to be "proud" of them, the point is raising awareness and starting a conversation. Whether opportunists were able to swindle people or not doesn't change the point of the movement existing, nor does it invalidate the real concerns regarding police brutality. Unless you think those new millionaires made all of that shit up?

Police Reform
  • Cities across the country are cutting funding to police departments. For example, the Los Angeles Budget Committee approved reallocating $133 million from the LAPD budget to other areas (like protecting municipal jobs from coronavirus-related furloughs). Other cities redirecting police funding include New York, Baltimore, Portland, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C..
  • Since the death of George Floyd, 31 of the country’s 100 largest cities have passed policies restricting the use of chokeholds by law enforcement, driving the total number up to 62 of the country’s 100 largest cities with such policies.
  • Breonna’s Law has been passed in Louisville, Kentucky, banning the kind of “no-knock” search warrant that led to Breonna Taylor’s death.
  • New York state legislature repealed 50-a, a former law that obscured police disciplinary records from the public.
  • In cities like Detroit, Buffalo, Dallas, and Charlotte, police departments are enacting and strengthening “duty-to-intervene” policies, which require officers to step in when their colleagues use excessive force.
Racist Relics
  • Several monuments honoring enslavers, colonizers, and Confederate leaders have been removed since the start of the protests, including statues of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson in Richmond, Virginia and of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in Frankfurt, Kentucky.
  • The Pentagon enacted a policy banning the Confederate flag from military bases around the world, and the Senate recently passed a provision to rename military bases named after Confederate officers.
  • Mississippi is changing their state flag to no longer include the Confederate flag.
  • NASCAR has banned the confederate flag from being flown at any of their events or racetracks.
Education
  • School districts are adopting racial equity policies to desegregate schools, close racial gaps among students, and reform the way they teach and discipline students and hire and train staff. Among them are school districts in Milwaukee, Indianapolis, San Diego, and Philadelphia.
  • Schools and colleges are ending their contracts with local police departments and working to phase police presence out of their campuses in favor of mental health and social work staff. These include schools in Seattle, Oakland, Denver, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee.
  • School administrators in cities like Denver and Spokane are updating their curricula to include more diverse authors, histories, and subjects, as well as specifically anti-racist teachings.
Entertainment & Pop Culture
  • Sports leagues are reversing course on their prior actions and statements and are now supporting their athletes in protesting for equality. The NFL “admit[ted they] were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier,” condemning racism and encouraging Black athletes to continue speaking out (though they have failed to apologize directly to Colin Kaepernick). The NHL, MLB, NBA and WNBA have all started their seasons supporting Black Lives Matter with protests, speeches, and educational videos.
  • The Washington Football Team is changing their previously racist name and mascot, something Native-led organizations have been calling for for years.
  • The Paramount Network cancelled their long-running TV show Cops, following criticism that it glorified the over-policing of marginalized communities.
  • Sesame Street held a town hall to teach kids about racism, privilege, and protest.
  • Disney Parks is transforming their Splash Mountain ride (which is based on the racist Disney film Song of the South) into a Princess and the Frog themed attraction.
  • Several shows have pulled episodes featuring blackface from streaming services, including 30 Rock, The Office, and Scrubs.
  • Jenny Slate and Kristen Bell, who are both white actresses, announced that they’ll no longer voice biracial characters on the shows Big Mouth and Central Park, making room for Black actresses to voice them instead.

Its clear some of you don't pay attention to pubic opinion.

Everytime BLM came up in news cycles.

There were thousands of people who corrected the BLM title with "all lives matter" comments.

Errors in police judgement affect everyone, not only blacks.

Suggesting that only blacks are affected is the type of misinformed movement most can't get behind.

...

Legitimate movements to reform police policy condemned actual causes of racial profiling like ticket and arrest quotas.

BLM never acknowledged even the most basic of issues.

What is that supposed to be indicative of exactly? Like, I'm curious what sort of conclusion you think could be drawn from that?

Errors in police judgement affect everyone, not only blacks.

Suggesting that only blacks are affected is the type of misinformed movement most can't get behind.
True, but who said otherwise?

That wasn't suggested though? The entire point and appeal to the general public is that is happens to everyone. It happens to black people disproportionately though, so that is what took precedent and why the movement existed.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

You do realize what it sounds like when you say BLM had a problem with "branding" and that it wasn't "inclusive" enough right? It sounds like you're saying what they were pushing for failed because it focused too much on black people. Is that an unfair assessment of what you're saying?

?? I was in the military. Military already differ than the police in term of mindset. You act like polices are some sort alien species. Every flaws that the polices have are human flaws. If the population is flawed, the polices are flaws. The discrimination that polices done to black people. Are the same discriminations that already exist within the population. People like to scapegoat politicians, but I found voters can be way more extreme than the politicians and often politicians change their tune depend on their voter base.

WIthin my time in the USA, Homeland security was established due to 9/11. Heck my community college, had some weird Homeland security going. FBI/CIA/DOJ had their own flaws but their mindset already different than the polices.

All I said is this, if polices are to defund. Then gun sales will go up. I see what people do to people. Where I live a homeless due light an asian elderly on fire. Gun owners themselves are also often irresponsible and don't know the law either. I will definitely buy guns to protect myself from criminals and other so called responsible gun owners who are often just as unhinge as the rest of them. Or I just have to move to somewhere remote.

Maybe, maybe just maybe the status quo affect different group differently. Said, global warming. If global warming to happen, Russia would have more farmable land. This country is tribal. No one really care about the entirety of the nation, or what other groups are going through. They only care about their corner of the world.

An Asian student killed in Chicago over 100 dollars. That was the amount that the low IQ individual killed him cashed his laptop/cellphone. That low IQ criminal choose property over life. He choose 100 dollars over the life of the Asian student, and over his own freedom since he is too dumb and get caught like right away. And yet, I didn't read that in the news. What I saw on the front page news was this https://www.wbez.org/stories/murder...entiment/091eb757-fb27-4280-90db-87a88bf38c7e

The life of that Asian student was secondary to whatever this "anti-black" sentiment is. Elsewhere, an Asian actor put up money to find out who assault an elderly. A practice that had done by people of all races. And had been done for decades without ANY controversies. And what is the headline? One of the headline at the time said he put bounty on black MEN. Black MEN, when he want info on singular individual that associate with the incident. It is obvious, that the status quo and or changes don't affect all groups the same. It is obvious that each groups must advocate for themselves.

Maybe, just maybe, to some groups that don't engage with crime activities as much and isn't as criminally profile, the status quo is doable with increment change. While the radical change, will impact one group drastically. And once that change came, the other minorities won't be as concern about the damage done as much.

How do I do? Baltimore, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Ferguson. It doesn't matter if it was a Hispanic, white, or even a black cop got involved in a death of a black person. The riot/looting that followed ALWAYS ALWAYS targeted POOR, FIRST GENERATION immigrants of East Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, Middle East, even Hispanics. Heck black owners put out sign "Black Owned" stores so that their own stores get spared. And that is all that matter, who give a shit about the minorities within the Black majority places. And often if there are push back, people said Property vs Life. And yet, every day, I see criminals killed innocent people over properties.

We are not even on the same boat.

It is quite interesting when and how conservatives find it in their heart to treat a concept like "inclusivity" seriously though. I guess all it takes is undermining black people and what issues they face.

Just posting this because I hate it when people keep claiming black people, and the left in general, hate the police. We understand there's a need for police. We just want better police.

The second part about homeless sweeps is sad though.
Progressives Attacked Biden over the crime bill. And yet, at that time in the USA. Crimes was impacted African Americans the most. And it was Black Americans that also supported the crime bill. Everyone want safety, and a place where they can thrive. Unfortunately the polices as is need a lot of reforms.
