I've seen plenty of media coverage of what was done. Some friendly blm people were even shooting their guns upwards for...some reason. I've even accidentally been watching the stream and could see some of the initial footage. Overall it ain't a pretty sight. Not something a person expects to see in America. People can assemble and express themselves, shutting down others is where the line gets crossed.
Shooting their guns upwards?...what? :lmao

Sorry, I just think it's incredibly hypocritical for Trump to refer to Bernie as a Commie and telling his people to get in line, when people have been assaulted before at his own rallies. So fuck him.

"It more than accounts for violence of this scale and if anything it's only going to escalate." O-okay then, let's equate throwing out troublemakers to all that happened and to the escalation you expect. Surely one warrants the other..
Well you can think that, but I don't agree at all. You strike me as a person who doesn't like violence just like me, yet you're fine with retaliation/revenge and violence as an answer to violence, while I'm not. I just hope no crazy Trump supporters continue the chain and disrupt Sanders/Clinton events because like you said, what happened last night surely accounts for more of the same right? I do not agree.

I'm not implying anything, I was asking you what people should do. Protesters aren't a huge real risk as you describe most of the time, but they still disrupt the private, paid for rally meant for a politician's supporters. Both yielding to protesters and throwing them out aren't great but removing them so the rally can continue is the better choice imo. What would you suggest? Cancelling every rally because of individuals that are bound to always be there? They are obviously there just to disrupt the rally, if they actually had a good reason for disagreeing with the politician they'd stay for the last ~30 mins of the rally to ask questions.
I meant that in the sense that is explains the violence, not that it justifies it. Trump is running which has been overtly racist, misogynist and overall xenophobic. Of course people are going to protest that. And of course a protest of that sort can get violent. Ideally it shouldn't but this is the environment trump has been fostering... That said, I am not fine with retaliation of any sort, ideally it wouldn't happen. However in the end it is trump who is causing all of this.

But... that is not what is happening here. Plenty of rallies have protesters and in most cases they are simply removed. And when things get out of hand they are ended. However trump is the only candidate to actively encourage and defend violence (as far as I know anyways) in the sense of actually telling people to attack protesters and saying he will defend people who attack protesters in court. Trump's campaign is inherently violent and fosters violence.

As for the rally, is it really a private event? For one thing, trump is a public figure. For another, the event wasn't paid for by supporters or anything of the sort. The protesters got there the same as everyone...

You keep acting like Trump didn't shut his own rally down. The rally had security and them blaming protesters is a copout.

Ugh fck my english limitations, it's when they just shoot into the air, cmon you know what I mean.

Well hypocritical or not that doesn't make Bernie any more or less a commie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ahhh yes I agree, fuck Trump :kreygasm

Oh I see, that's how you meant it. I still don't agree that a normal human would react like that just because Trump is highly controversial. Then again those people have shown that they have much more issues than just with Trump so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I think you're a bit blowing it out of proportion, but alas.

Yes it is a private event. It doesn't matter how people came there, you disrupt the event and you're out.

Never did I say he didn't. It's the ridiculousness that happened afterwards that I disagree with, and I'm pretty sure I said that several times.

This isn't a question of whether good deed need to be affected by their motivations. You're the one who keeps hedging morality with whether someone is pious or not. You're the one making ignorant and bigoted statements about atheists or non believers. As if any number of doctors or scientists or educators or anyone else who adopts secular principles shouldn't be president, when the Constitution adheres to strict secular principles and very much deliberately so.
I would think that someone who was not religious would have a very difficult time making it to the presidency. Numerous political events still hold prayers by religious figures (every congress meeting), the national prayer breakfast (presidents always speak), etc. What the Constitution reads is very different than what is being done by religious leaders of our country. Who would an atheist pray too? What book would an atheist swear upon? What prayers would an atheist send in times of crises faced by our nation?

Why does the Book of Revelation and the concept of Armageddon exist if non-Christians aren't supposed to have some sort of reckoning coming their way for their non-belief?
It exists to show that the Christian God is a god of many chances and that even when calamity and turmoil is taking place because of man's sinful action, that he is still willing to allow them to seek forgiveness for their actions. They even get one final chance before judgment day to seek forgiveness.

Why are you a member of a political party that would prefer to deny you equal rights as a citizen?
Is there a perfect political party? Is there a perfect political leader that holds 100% of the same views you agree with? Ive found that often people are choosing candidates and parties who just hold the majority of views they have but not all 100%.
The question is do you think you need to be forgiven for what you are? If God made you this way, then why would you have to apologize for it or seek forgiveness from anyone? Why would you need fret over it at all?
Dont people fret all the time though? Humans have some desire to fit in so when something about them is against the norm then they fret?

I think this question would be better asked if I believe homosexuality a sin? I don't think so as it isnt hurting anyone else, so apart from the initial time fretting with how other humans would perceive someone who is against the traditional american norm, (or perhaps in school since classmates are a bit more critical than random adult on the street), I haven't been fretting after acceptance.

Compare that to the multitudes of horror that has been committed in the name of science, logic, free thought....oh wait, you can't.
Theres been numerous cases in which scientists have committed horrific experiments on human people, why else did ethical committees for the treatment of humans research subjects have to be formed? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unethical_human_experimentation_in_the_United_States No president in the US has committed similar acts of horror in the name of religion against the unreligious.

It doesn't really make religious people look like better human beings, it just makes them look like they're forced to be good and that at a drop of hat they can easily turn bad if they ever find out the whole God-Heaven thing is a scam. But, theists can drop their morals and values just as easily as atheists can, so I don't know why Sharkbait has to insist on claiming theists have good morals and values while atheists' change or can change. For all we know, many atheists continued to hold good morals and values despite going through difficult times while many theists turned into bad and selfish people after going through turbulent times.
Then what is an atheists reason for doing good? A religious person does good things because their god has defined what is good and what is not good, but what about an atheist? What motivates an atheist to do good, and what is their punishment for doing not good? I just picture it as they just have free reign to do whatever because they arent guiding by anything but just what makes them feel good.

What exactly am I blowing out of proportion?

I think the issue here is that neither trump's supporters or his protesters are "normal". At least if what I have read is correct trump has gathered support from people who are pissed off. Which is why trump's violent campaign appeals to them. And then you have people who take issue with trump's campaign. So trump gathers pissed off supporters and then protesters, who are likely to have been pissed off about racial issues well before trump was even a thing, show up.

@SharkBait so if God is indeed real and abhors homosexuals as the bible claims (I can't even really claim to know which one is real, it's all bs) what would you do? As for your question on atheists sense of morals it seems more like you're asking why we have morals without some deity commanding us to be such a way. The only thing I can tell you is even if you hadn't been raised religious, you'd still be very much the same person, morals wise since from what you've said, you do what you feel is right anyways. Or did your... "version" of christianity teach you it is fine for you to be a homosexual? If so then nvm

I'd do the same I do everything, pray and seek forgiveness for the sins I commit known and unknown each day. Why do people get caught up on homosexuality, when (all sin is equal) telling a half truth or mistruth, or false truth, is the same. In terms of sin what would make a homosexual different from a non homosexual, we're taught that all have sinned.

If one isnt religious why would they do what is right? I guess I just see people as selfish and self centered so without a religious guidebook, everyone would just do anything and whatever in their power to get the one up on someone else swindle and all. What do they have to lose from doing that? nothing.

Im watching the trump rally in Kansas City and for the past ten minutes he's been interrupted by Bernie's supporters (they have signs). Im always confused why people choose to protest at a rally when the people there are highly unlikely to change their minds. Are Bernie's supporters that desperate that they have to spend time protesting instead of going door to door in neighborhoods for support?

I was just somewhat interested in hearing Trump speak on this evening :(.

This is because people in power still espouse religious views so it's welcome. It's why Obama would visit a mosque. The National Prayer breakfast is non-denominational. And exactly, the laws we live by in this country have nothing to do what a religious person does.

I mean honestly, this is such a minor and inconsequential thing as it pertains to actually running the country that it sort of proves my point for me.

It exists to show that the Christian God is a god of many chances and that even when calamity and turmoil is taking place because of man's sinful action, that he is still willing to allow them to seek forgiveness for their actions. They even get one final chance before judgment day to seek forgiveness.
But my point is that this story exists to instill fear in those who reject his existence. You surely can't ignore all of the suffering that is to be brought upon those who don't accept him as God, no?

Is there a perfect political party? Is there a perfect political leader that holds 100% of the same views you agree with? Ive found that often people are choosing candidates and parties who just hold the majority of views they have but not all 100%.
It's not about whether a party is perfect for someone or not. But I would think priority would be placed on something that's pretty core to who you are and that the people at your side and who you vote for don't respect you for who you are would supersede agreement on other menial things.

Sure, but not because someone who supposedly loves them and created them would smite them and send them to hell for who they are. Maybe something less consequential?

Yeah but this is again one of my points. If you believe that homosexuality isn't a sin, then you are rejecting biblical inerrancy. And if you can do that, then why believe in any of it? Just because it brings you comfort for whatever reason? Why give yourself zero credit for your own moral compass and assume the worst of people who don't believe what you believe? There are some denominations who welcome openly gay people to their churches and people like to add the caveat that being gay isn't sinful, but the acts that a gay person may commit are. What's the operative difference between the two? You're still being told to be guilty for trying to seek happiness and fulfillment when, like you said, no harm is being done. Yet the people of your church would likely paint you as a deviant.

Bioethics exists for a reason, yes. But any of these things haven't been done in the pursuit and promise of salvation, which is of use to no one as it is now.

Why would anyone seek forgiveness for sins you haven't known you've committed? How can you actually do something morally wrong if you're unaware of it?

People like to bring this point about homosexuality because the crime for being such is quite clearly death, and that your death is your own fault if so... repeated many times over in the Bible. There's no confusion there. The rejection of this kind of rhetoric and the fact that you can live your life today without persecution is directly in spite of this...it's owed to secular thought and non-religious thinking. Yet you'd rather think the people responsible for passing such laws as immoral. It's pure nonsense.

If one isnt religious why would they do what is right? I guess I just see people as selfish and self centered so without a religious guidebook, everyone would just do anything and whatever in their power to get the one up on someone else swindle and all. What do they have to lose from doing that? nothing.
But there are plenty of so-called religious people who do the same thing...you keep implying that non-religious people can't possibly have morals when there's literally nothing to back this up aside from paranoia. The non-religious have just as many reasons not to break the law. It's said that between 15-30% of the US population is non-religious. Do you know how many people in prison that identify as non-religious? 0.1%. End of argument really.

Why do you think this is unique to bernie supporters? All candidates have this happen to them.

Mostly only the idiotic people who never bother to think that others have lived their life with their own experiences and whatnot and already feel confident in their answers of what to believe in, do this. A better thing to do (I sorta agree) would be to find others who aren't voting and maybe try and convince them to vote since it benefits them and shows they still have a say in this country

They were actually holding up Bernie signs and chanting. They kept interrupting him for about 20 minutes, then I turned it off since they kept interrupting.

People suffer regardless of if they believe God or not. I would think a god that gifted his creation with free choice would be pleased to see when people turn towards him and realize they need him. In terms of suffering, we are all suffering from the first sin so you dont have to accept god or not to face suffering. Is there anyway to life a painfree life? The relief in experiencing suffering is that there is some place to go once one dies. From dust I came and from dust I will return but as the saying goes, but at least believers know that they will go some place better than Earth once they pass on. Meanwhile nonbelievers have to suffer with the thought of a meaningless unfulfilling life with the belief that theyll just remain as dust once they pass on.

It's not about whether a party is perfect for someone or not. But I would think priority would be placed on something that's pretty core to who you are and that the people at your side and who you vote for don't respect you for who you are would supersede agreement on other menial things.
So Im faced with voting for a party that, in your words doesnt respect me, or voting for candidates of a party who I believe is not going to lead the country in the right direction. Fortunately, the state that Im in had already by popular vote supported same sex marriage. So I experience no loss in voting for a party that perhaps may not embrace such a life style decision. Meanwhile I have no power in a democratic party that wants to decrease military and make America unsafe and upholds spending measures that punish the successful while giving free handouts to everybody and their grandmas. iCant. And again, I dont have social issues as very high on what I consider "important," since social things are better voted upon by the public. Let the individual states and its citizens vote for what it wants.

What's the operative difference between the two? You're still being told to be guilty for trying to seek happiness and fulfillment when, like you said, no harm is being done. Yet the people of your church would likely paint you as a deviant.
But there is no "denomination" in the bible. And again homosexuality wouldnt send someone to hell. The bible teaches that you go to heaven as long as you believe and accept Jesus. The bible is a book that teaches forgiveness and gives folks many second chances, just because someone is doing something bad doesnt mean he would turn them away. They just need to realize they rely on him for their daily needs and daily forgiveness. Why does one think in the old testament accounts, people have to continuously make sacrifices to their god? Singling out homosexuality and treating it as greater than every other sin and making it something unforgivable is contrary to the teachings of the bible.

There are tons of churches, why go to one that paints one as a deviant? Im sure there are churches where people are racists or look down upon people in different financial tiers etc, or at least have members in their congregation that do. Go to a different one if one isn't feeling right.

At the end of the day a relationship with a god is personal and only he would know whether or not is is a sin or not, so people most likely just accept and move on and continue to worship and go about their lives. I mean consider people who blatantly break the law multiple times a day for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign but rolling and going. People accept they broke that law and go on normally about their lives. I would think reasonable people face with the homosexuality "dilemma" put it as minor as that.

The non-religious have just as many reasons not to break the law. It's said that between 15-30% of the US population is non-religious. Do you know how many people in prison that identify as non-religious? 0.1%. End of argument really.
How? that shows that the non religious face great and extreme guilt for their actions and the second they do bad enough, they realize they need the help of a spiritual being to help them correct their ways and to give them peace of mind through their time of remorse and self-reflection. It even goes back to what I said previously about the atheists having a fluid morality, look at how week their morality is when they are caught that they abandon their none need for a religious being. Can you imagine if an atheist were president and the second he was faced with an attack from somewhere, he gets up in front of the state of the union address and prays to a named spiritual being?

Yet another win for Marco Rubio! Woot Woot! I figured he would win based on how awesomely he performed in Northern Virginia in the Virginia primary.

Cruz got Wyoming today but Rubio and Kasich got one delegate for there based on the county voting. They do another Wyoming primary sometime in April.

Now we wait for SuperTuesday2. FLORIDA.

But many don't need him. You've been indoctrinated into thinking you need him, but you don't. Human beings may have existed for 250,000 years and for only a small fraction of that amount did people think they needed God. And I never suggested that non-believers are free of suffering. You use this circular logic that because suffering exists, it isn't a big deal if it exists due to religious reasons. But you're not addressing the issue I presented at all.

You could spin it in different ways. That if someone sees no need to believe in an afterlife, that they don't take their time alive for granted because we only have one shot at it. You can dress the human experience up in many different fashions.

So Im faced with voting for a party that, in your words doesnt respect me, or voting for candidates of a party who I believe is not going to lead the country in the right direction. You may not experience any loss, but your state is only one of many. And I've seen you suggest that the federal government shouldn't have forced the entire country into this. This was a misconception obviously, because it became legal due to a Supreme Court decision. The Federal government would only be doing their duty to enforce it everywhere. I don't see how someone can be for something, an issue of civil rights, and suggest that people in other states where homosexuals are less popular have to suffer because of where they live. And before you hastily say they should just move, you know that isn't a solution to the issue presented at all.

But there is no "denomination" in the bible. And again homosexuality wouldnt send someone to hell. The bible teaches that you go to heaven as long as you believe and accept Jesus. Actually, there is and have been many different versions of the Bible. A thousand years ago there were books in the Bible that are no longer contained within it because the authority didn't want them to be. How are they any less the word of God?

Wait, so you're saying sacrifice to a God is a good or a bad thing...I'm not following you. If it's the latter, you do realize that the entire basis of Christianity is the human sacrifice of someone, right? Something you had no say in, yet it needed to happen in order for you to be free of sin. Imagine that something like that happened these days. How would people react to it?

No it isn't contradictory at all. I never said the sin was on a par with the worst, but it's clear the penalty is the same as those. Aside from it being mentioned in Genesis and Leviticus, it was also mentioned in Romans, a part of the New Testament.

There are tons of churches, why go to one that paints one as a deviant? Im sure there are churches where people are racists or look down upon people in different financial tiers etc, or at least have members in their congregation that do. Go to a different one if one isn't feeling right.
But the point is Christianity looks down on it period. To suggest otherwise is to ignore what the Bible says. And if you can do that with one issue, where does that end? At what point does the text even matter?

At the end of the day a relationship with a god is personal and only he would know whether or not is is a sin or not, so people most likely just accept and move on and continue to worship and go about their lives. I mean consider people who blatantly break the law multiple times a day for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign but rolling and going. People accept they broke that law and go on normally about their lives. I would think reasonable people face with the homosexuality "dilemma" put it as minor as that.
Of course it's personal! So then why is so hard for politicians, like Cruz or Carson to keep it to themselves? Our laws are secularist and humanist, not Christian. Keep it out of the conversation. Period.

But you're again conflating laws with religions in attempt to bargain with yourself. Some sodomy laws exist, and they have definitely had religious inspiration but of course they're archaic and not enforced. The point of believing in God is he knows and sees all. Belief in a God requires no written laws.

How? that shows that the non religious face great and extreme guilt for their actions and the second they do bad enough, they realize they need the help of a spiritual being to help them correct their ways and to give them peace of mind through their time of remorse and self-reflection.
No they don't. I was raised and confirmed Catholic. However, if I ever do something that requires me to feel guilty, I express remorse to those I've wronged, not any sort of higher power.

How can a non-believer feel guilt over something that isn't wrong to them? What about the lack of belief itself requires forgiveness to someone who isn't going to seek forgiveness? Plenty of religious people still have doubts. This is just one singular thing, that only means something to believers. But the lack of belief is never going to lead someone astray of their moral compass any more than the fucked up things the religious do. The difference is we don't believe we have to answer to any otherworldly being for it. We do it for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community.

And no I can't imagine that. Since when was the State of the Union address a prayer gathering? I swear, you live in a fantasy world where politicians are all members of a church or that the prayer is a required duty for an elected official. For one, I established prior to this that I don't think we live in a time where an open atheist would be elected, but of course people said the same thing about a Black President or a Woman President, and both either have happened or have a very real possibility of happening. And secondly, an atheist doesn't dismiss religion because they have no conviction in what they believe, it's quite the opposite.

Ugh fck my english limitations, it's when they just shoot into the air, cmon you know what I mean.
I missed this line of the convo...but yeah, what's your point? Trump is immensely popular with members of the NRA. I don't know what the gun laws are like in Germany, but I guess you've never heard celebratory gunfire before. Who the hell knows why people do that shit.

Well Im not a fan of a big federal government. Im a fan of citizens choosing the rights to social issues in the state they live in. If the Supreme Court or whatever is circumventing states and citizens rights than I dont care for the results but the process. This is a democracy after all.

Imagine that something like that happened these days. How would people react to it?
I think people would react the same as they did in the bible. Its not like he was accepted by the religious leaders of the time or didnt face persecution.
But the point is Christianity looks down on it period. To suggest otherwise is to ignore what the Bible says. And if you can do that with one issue, where does that end? At what point does the text even matter?
I don't think its ignoring what the Bible says and your question is hard to answer. For someone who becomes a believer as they are taking their final breaths, what point did the text even matter for them? The basics of the religion teaches that Jesus saves, so I think man is just putting way more value on these sins and the text than even God himself does. The text is our moral compass here on Earth and gives us advice, it is up to a person to use that advice or not and to gauge how much stock they are putting into believing the advice. I see nothing wrong.

Of course it's personal! So then why is so hard for politicians, like Cruz or Carson to keep it to themselves? Our laws are secularist and humanist, not Christian. Keep it out of the conversation. Period.
I think this brings us back to the basic point, I would imagine that they, like me, clearly see the country as the city upon a hill built upon Christian values. As the country has swayed away from its calling, they believe they need to be in power to bring it back to where it needs to be.

We do it for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community.
I see.
How can a non-believer feel guilt over something that isn't wrong to them?
i don't see anymore. If a non believer told a very bad lie to someone in the community they wouldnt feel guilt because there is moral guidebook to tell them that it is wrong to tell a very bad lie to someone.

See, it's shit like that that makes me feel you're trolling. Who the fuck are you to say that because we don't believe in god we don't have morals? That we don't feel bad? Pfft I've said it before and I'll say it again: you're a troll or a brainwashed fool. For a small lie, sure, most of us (religious people too) we can be like whatever but if it's something that endangers another then I won't do it. It's a matter of honor and respect. I don't need any deity to make me feel that way. Screw divine punishment. I am who I am regardless of a god. And if you want to point out something stupid like "oh but you just said you do what you feel like" or whichever way you wish to phrase that. You're the same. You do what you feel like, no? You clearly don't follow your crappy book to the letter and say that you choose what to think about your own homosexuality (which I don't think is a bad thing either in case you think I'm hating on you for that) you say it like we don't know right from wrong but YOU'RE wrong whereas you were told to believe in god to make you do right, those of us without the constant threat of divine retribution can choose for ourselves. Everyone is capable of good and bad. Atheists or religious. As for your point about only doing right because of god then you aren't a "good" person at all since by your own beliefs you would rape and kill without restraint were it not for "god" so hello to you, you would be rapist/killer-if-not-for-your-belief-in-a-god~
