Ok, so we have china tariffs now. Let the trade wars begin! In all seriousness though, I haven't found much information which would actually say this is a good move or not. To elaborate: The steel tariffs are objectively and indefensibly stupid. It's going to hurt far more people than they are going to help. And we know that because this happened during bush's presidency and there is at the moment no reason to think this time it is going to be different. Anyways, the china tariffs in turn seem to have a different endgame in mind: China stealing US intellectual property. Trump doing something to pressure china to adress that at least on paper sounds reasonable. Now, my questions:

1.- Are tariffs a reasonable and/or appropriate response to that?

2.- Would tariffs pressure china to act on this or simply get them to engage in an undesirable trade war?

3.- Can the chinese government actually do something about the intellectual property in question?

4.-What intellectual property are we talking about? Are we talking about something like chinese companies making iphone shaped phones or something different from that? Because if its the iphone shaped phone scenario then this puts the level of stupidity of the steel tariffs to shame.

5.- What products are actually getting tariffs?

6.- Is trump bullshitting us regarding the reasons for this? As in, his "CHINA IS STEALING OUR IP" is just a punchline which would sounds nice, even reasonable, to a lot of people across the political spectrum but in reality it is just the same old idiotic economic protectionism which lacks substance, nuance and even basic common sense. I have not yet seen many articles actually questioning trump on this....

Anyways, those are a few questions I'd like answered to start this off.

I do enjoy Roseanne and I think they did the episode well having Aunt Jackie not support him and it wasn't too over the top (I think Trump is a bozo and wasn't offended by this epsiode). There will always be people who think differently than others and her tweet is true that diversity isn't just one sided. I don't agree with 99.99999999% of what Trump supports say but that small sliver agrees that everyone can form an opinion. To not think that everyone must have the same opinions goes against a democratic society. Now if those opinions conflicted against human rights, that is different because human rights and safety of society are valued as more important. However, that show just had someone who supported Trump and didn't have any hate speeches or links to hate organizations. It even had a character that challenged gender roles to which the Conners learned to accept so there is no reason for anyone to bash Roseanne.

The real problem is this California judge forcing coffee companies to put a label on coffee being "cancerous" when there is no evidence to support that claim.

It's a bit weird since fans claim Tim Allen's show was cancelled due to his political leanings, and ABC is the network for both shows.

I haven't watched the show. I guess I'm somewhat curious, but I think sitcoms in general are really played out and don't really work anymore... nor am I really interested in some sort of social commentary from one either, as I don't expect it to be all that sharp or profound, but I'm willing to be surprised, I guess.

But how many Trump supporters have actually accepted those who challenged gender roles? I rarely read or come across Trump supporters actually accepting people who challenge gender roles or anything that they hate or don't understand, like homosexuality and Muslims. In fact, they usually attack these people and bully them incessantly. But then again, the flaw is that I don't know all Trump supporters, and there may be some who are actually accepting.

It is from personal experience that I consider majority of Trump supporters to be pieces of shit or horrible people. It has nothing to do with same views and opinions, but how dangerous and hateful their views and opinions are. As result of Islamophobia, Punish a Muslim Day is a thing, apparently, and even in general Muslims get attacked for no reason. Hell, anti-Semitism led to the rise of Nazism, which in turn led to the Holocaust, and it seems anti-Semitism is on the rise or more open again thanks to Trump.

TBH that is so ridiculous it makes me laugh. And also cry inside a little. But mostly laugh. What this person is doing is defending her opinion by saying she has a right to have it. She isn't defending her opinion on its merits, the fact behind it or.... anything that makes her opinion worth anything. She is defending her opinion by pointing out she is allowed to have one. Sure, anyone is entitled to their opinion but that is a vastly different thing from an opinion being correct. I guess this is trump supporters in a nutshell....

Aren't the right to have an opinion the root of a democratic society? Opinions are judgements where some can be viewed as "right" and "wrong" depending on the person. If she said "diversity of facts is diversity" than she would be an idiot. Facts are concrete proof where as opinions are based on views/thoughts on situations.

Yeah, that is correct and I am in no form denying anyone's right to an opinion. My point here is that the "diversity of opinion" argument being made here defends opinions that are being called out by basically saying "you know what, I am entitled to my opinion". This is the exact opposite of encouraging any form of reasonable debate. You are literally shutting the other person up by pointing out you have a right to an opinion rather than even vaguely attempting to defend the merits of the opinion in question. Imagine this, perhaps extreme scenario:

Person 1: IMO the earth is flat.

Person 2: That's ridiculous, we have pictures of earth, we have satellites orbiting earth, with enough plane tickets you can circle the globe...

Person 1: You know what? I am entitled to my opinion.

Opinions might be subjective but like in the case above they can also be wrong. And they can also be right.

While people are allowed to have and voice their opinions, they're not exempt from its consequences. They can certainly be criticized for it and face whatever fallouts happen. Roseanne can definitely portray Trump supporters as good and open-minded people, but she shouldn't be exempt from others calling bullshit on that, even though there are some supporters who are open-minded and more accepting.
