Almost the same as what I said, hence why I was confused.
No, it's not almost the same as what you said. There were no tickets to "buy up". These people didn't prevent people from attending, they made it seem like way more were attending than there were.

Not to be pedantic btw, just saying that this story has been misconstrued by a lot of outlets.

Nah, I don't mind being corrected/educated. I either read some kpop people saying that or just misremembered/misunderstood what they said.

It was strange seeing all the major news channels say that story, but I found it hard to believe or actually they were atributing way too much to their efforts, when I doubt that many of their fans went through the steps to request a ticket.

Probably trumps staffers overexaggerating (never forget what they said about his inauguration rally)...

That's due to how it was "reported" by some outlets.

From what I could tell it was definitely a concerted effort, so I don't find it hard to believe that their planning accounted for thousands of people showing up to the event that never intended to be there. I mean, they're no strangers to bold-faced lies and clearly covid had an effect as well. But they were clearly planning for activities outside of the arena for people who couldn't get in and the arena wasn't even half full, leading to them canceling his speech outside since he would have been talking to no one.

The same group of Kpop fans were also spamming police community surveillance apps with "fancams" when many departments opened them some weeks ago, leading to them crashing several of them. There's a lot of community coordination for online voting and activities such as this in Kpop, so the idea that they would request tickets for an event is not far-fetched at all IMO.

So not that anyone here gets affected by it, but what are your opinions on the H1B visa thing?

Fortunately i am not affected but practically everyone i know, 95% of my friends and family could potentially be affected.

Isn't it just affecting new applicants?

I may not like Indians but I'm against this and hate that they're being punished for Trump and his supporters' racism and need to blame others for their own issues.

Well, yes and no. It affects people who are not in the US the most. But H1B is issued for a maximum validity of 3 years only, and you can only renew it twice, unless your GC application is approved and you are on the waitlist (waitlist for indians is 15 years or so). So if you fall into the latter catagory, where GC is approved and are on the waitlist, you still have to keep renewing the visa every 3 years.
So some people i know have their visas set to expire in a few months, so their extension, even though approved will mean they have to leave the country and come back for stamping. and once you leave.........

I may not like Indians
You sound like an Indian...

I think a lot of indians who previously supported Trump are now going to alienate him. A lot of them didn't like Democrats negligence on addressing the issues like GC waitlist and loved Trump's idea of removing country-wise quota and merit based GC visa. Numbers suggested that'll push down the wait time from 15ish years to 1 or 2 years. I am sure those people will not support him either, but i dont see big name democrats condeming this either....

Id tell everyone to get their friends that are citizens to vote for NOT trump.
I don't know anyone who'd vote for him... Through work, i knew some people who did but they changed their tune within a couple of months since he got elected, everyone agreed they were wrong too.. but i live in a bubble called silicon valley, completely disconnected from the real america...

Honestly speaking, i dont see this law holding up. Its just to satisfy his base, who honestly speaking cannot even replace H1B jobs. America's legal immigration system has always been solid and helped fill a void for labor. Trump will change his tune soon...

why wouldn't it hold up, its an executive order (not a law), and they can limit visas and all as they already do, or delay processing.

Lawfully you are right. But logically, a lot of these people will willingly go to other nations, or back to their home nations. The best of the best come to the states from everywhere. A lot of indian startups have succeeded from engineers who didnt get lucky in their lotteries. NZ has had talks about opening a big tech park, Sydney already is trying to do the same and Canada as well. Top CEOs have also spoken against it.

It may hold only till december at best, we'll see what happens after that.

That's an insult and uncalled for :mad

I'm not sure if the Trump supporting Indians will be alienated, I feel like another run of anti-Pakistani ads will be enough for them to keep supporting him. Dunno if the Dems will, but I hope they're smart enough to know that internationals are necessary for the economy, if nothing else.

I do get surprised when people from Indian parents/or asian ones, or even their parents vote for Trump or even republican in general.

Its not surprising voting republican honestly, specially for the indians here. i read somewhere that indians were overwhemlingly republicans pre Bush / Obama era. But since i have been in this country 2008, most people except those who came here during Clinton time are republican supporters.
Even Trump's appeal was related to one of the following:
1. he will lower taxes
2. reverse Obama policies on wall street
3. remove GC country-wise lottery
Dems never speak about the legal immigration and tend to focus on DACA which some people find hard and to an extent, i understand. When you pay thousands on college, then 10 thousands in taxes and still have to wait for 15 years and Dems make comments like: "those people came here for a better life by crossing the border", a lot of them feel like its been unfair.
It is further skewed because classical dancers from India can get a GC based on "exemplary skills in art" while a tech person will have to wait. But if you understand America's reason for this, the legal immigration system is a great strength which aids their economic and scientific progress.

That moment when colbert ends up doing better interviews than most mainstream media .... Gotta say, my biggest takeaway from this is that Bolton is probably telling the truth BUT he is also an unprincipled weasel.

Not surprising as many Indians don't like taxes, or care about Trump's rhetoric as they believe they're not affected.

He and Modi get along well enough
He says to be anti-Pakistani
Pro Hindu (which is BS if you ask me)
Against tax
When the parents or their generation immigrated, Reagan was prez, and republican, so good feels with that
Greed

Literally, the only two pro-Trump ads (one was actually anti-Hillary) were about Pakistan. Hillary's aide was pro-Pakistan in one ad, hence why Hindus should have voted for Trump, while the other ad talked about how Trump would crack down hard on the country. Soured tf out of me when it came to Indians. Dinesh D'Souza is such a shithead.

well, indians hate indians too.... nevermind, bad joke...

Hillary did provide aid to Pakistan as the secretary of defense, but questioned the decision later on whether it was a good thing. Even John Kerry did later.
Frankly speaking, i dont think the hindu vote count was at levels it would've affected the ballot but yea, there is a age demographic that probably did vote, and again i hate them too, so birds...... nevermind..

DInesh DSouza sucks.....

So.... apparently texas' governor is considering closing up the state again. Things must be pretty atrocious over there... It's about time people in the US stop taking medical advise from politicians...

the largest hospital system in the United States (Houston TX) is out of beds [21 hospitals]...he raced to open for some strange reason.

also consider...its been a problem for weeks, why are these still operating...no ones going to stay home if youre saying *stay home* yet letting these places stay open.
