Some blame china for releasing the virus that is costing people jobs and killing our standard of living. This leads to negative sentiment against asians and anyone who may be chinese.

Shouldn't the media address the idea china is responsible for the pandemic and lockdowns.

Rather than oversimplifying everything as racism.

:toc
China is where the virus started, but saying they released the virus is not true. Even those who accuse China are not saying this was deliberate, they are suggesting that it could have originated in the lab, opposing that bat carrier alone cannot be hte reason. This is speculation and not based on evidence other than a strain being so contagious.

China is not responsible for the spread, its lack of restrictions. Asian countries have done better cos they prepared well since their past experiences. THe spread is due to travel and trade.

The media was right to not entertain this... If action needs to be taken with PRC, then the government should....

Temperatures though I'm not sure how helpful it is.
Just filters people who are sick, instead of taking their word for it.... but yea, i guess not much.

Those "some" are idiots.

It's mainly the faults of the West, from Trump and Boris Johnson to the citizens who refused to wear masks, isolate themselves, or socially distance themselves. Racists just want to blame anyone else but themselves, even when they're traveling for holidays or rioting against masks and lockdowns. Saying China is responsible is very false, but they do need to be answerable with how they dealt with the virus.
"China needs to be held answerable" is a ballsy call.

too many shootings against minorities and the young by these military assault weapons, no one does anything recreationally with these

also imagine if all the white militia groups had these!!!
You think white militia groups don't have guns? :toc

Have you ever looked up how many guns civilians in the USA hold? 393 million?

What is this aversion to calling it what it is though? If you commit a violent crime against someone because they look Muslim or Asian then what else does it need to be called? There's often more nuance to bigotry or racism than just hating something, but calling something racist is not "oversimplifying" it.
Might it be fair to label it a negative backlash rather than outright racism?

Racism implies the negativity being entirely unprovoked, which would seem to not fit circumstances 100%.

My approach to the pandemic has been to watch all of the documentaries I could find on top of reading whatever 50 to 100+ different articles I could find published on it.

The official narrative on the virus has evolved and shifted over time to contain numerous contradictions. Which many seem not to remember.

Something I've seen a lot of people agree on, given how they treated journalists who tried to speak up and didn't really warn us about the virus.

Oh i see what you mean. But people who are symptomatic are likely to cough and sneeze, no? Anyways, agree that masks on is a more important requirement.

Not always? And it could be chalked up to allergies or some other stuff as well. But there were two hairdressers who had covid that didn't pass it on to their customers because both parties were wearing masks.

That's almost as generous as the dude's defense being "sex addiction", which isn't a real condition and is used in defense as an excuse for being a piece of shit.

The "unprovoked" element seems oddly placed here. An action can't be considered racist or bigoted if the person is provoked? What constitutes as provocation in a scenario in which you're killing random people you have no history with?

It goes down to your original point that says China should be held accountable for the lockdown. You can blame China for lack of transperancy but not for the spread and not for other countries taking action.
Yes, China should've notified the world that this is a pandemic. But check the numbers in late Jan when China announced it, the spread had started but most governments didn't take it seriously. Even Trump administartion, they spoke about banning flights from China and yet downplayed the virus as late as march.
The narrative has shifted, yes. Because we know better now.

If your broader point is that the world should put China on the hook for their lack of transparency in information, i agree with you. I just dont agree that you can blame China itself for the spread and the current scenario.

Also, the AAPI attacks...
Since these are related to the attacks on asians, this has to be treated as a racist attack... There's no doubt about that. Its baseless. On one end, you have an incomplete argument against China, and these people are not chinese, they are americans of chinese descent. Almost everyone was born here and grew up here and probably been here for generations.

The only parallel being drawn is by race, so that makes these attacks racist...

...

Democrats: "Let's tax poor and middle class americans for each mile they drive!"

I'm so glad Biden is President.

Pushing these much needed reforms.

:toc

Good thing Trump isn't President.

He might cut taxes again. And that would be very very bad.

@SharkBait Tell me how awesome this is! Even better than gun confiscation, am I right.

Tax cuts weren't going to happen again anyway due to the pandemic, doesn't matter who is in office.

No point discussing something that isn't a thing.
Are you saying you wouldn't support new taxes on miles driven by americans.

To save the planet and the environment -- for future generations.

Greta Thunberg might be disappointed by that.

With worry growing about a slowing economy, Florida House moves ahead with broad tax cut bill

Only crazy right wing conservatives are proposing tax cuts now.

Yet another reason to be thankful Biden is President.

The rates are pretty similar to what they already are...?

And if you actually end up breaking down the numbers, you end up paying more with the plan you screenshotted anyway. Graduated tax brackets allow for everyone to pay the same amount for each threshold of your income.

The math might be finnicky in some places but the point is, even if Trump was in office, it's not a guarantee tax cuts would be passed.

That's state taxes... everyone pays state and federal taxes (plus municipal in some cases). Biden or Trump has nothing to do with state tax policy.

You know, this sort of thing kind of makes sense when people don't have to wait in lines all day to vote, but it's like that because the GOP wants it.
i think it and georgias doesnt make it illegal for poll workers to provide water though.

feel like all these restrictions just makes poll workers and election officials work harder, hope they increase their compensation;

Eh, fair enough but even then, what is this law even addressing then?

Many pollworkers are volunteers. Don't see why they need to feed people too

groups and organizations like
"To alleviate the pain of waiting in lines for upwards of eight hours, the non-partisan non-profit—which was founded in 2016—raises money to ship out pizzas to patient voters and poll workers across the country. In their first year, they raised over $40,000. In 2018, that number grew to almost half a million. This year, Pizza to the Polls is also partnering up with Uber Eats and sending out trucks across the country to serve up national favorites like Milk Bar, Shake Shack, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, and more. They’ve already raised over $321,000 and delivered more than 3,700 pizzas. "

People aren't given enough credit. Like some shitty pizza is going to make them vote differently.

And again, the long-ass lines to vote seem to only really exist in minority areas within red states, so yeah...
