The supply to first world countries is completely safe, don't let people tell you otherwise, it is wrong. You might experience some plant oil shortage here and there because stupid people buy it en masse, but no american or european will go hungry because of crops in ukraine and russia.
For third world country, that is a different matter entirely. They will suffer.

It is the vegan in me that says it, but this might be a good reminder about why using plants for fuel and animals is not a good idea on the long run.

There is not going to be some kind of all out civil war battle. What you might increasingly look at are riots and divisions among statelines. I can imagine, worst case, the US to fall apart into blue and red states which do their own thing and people migrating to where they want to live.

This isn't the first time I've heard this rebuttal, but realistically the soldiers have no say over what gets bombed and likely don't know what's happening until it's happening. Only interference they could pose is if they get a heads up on Operation Defascify America Through Tactical Nuke from one of the higher ups.

Ah definitely, this is simply a hypothetical. I would also argue that the bit you mention about a higher up giving a heads up kinda makes my point here. So um, you think operation defascify america will go smoothy when your generals and soldiers will basically target people who are ideologically closer to their targets than to their leader's? On the flip side I give a hypothetical trump operation "deleftify america" better odds (not great odds mind you, just better than the alternative).

From what I've read, the baby formula stuff is in part due to only three companies controlling the entire industry and it not being very profitable in the first place. One of the company's main factories has been shut down since February due to contamination issues. So it's not solely about supply chain issues.

Ah, I see. It's still kinda hard to imagine the bulk of the materials being used to make this being essentially twice as expensive than they were not having a role here. The specific problems mentioned there seem a tad too US specific.... Reading the article makes it seem like there's a lot of stress on multiple areas. I am a bit surprise that the product would be not all that profitable to begin with, I've always thought of baby formula as being expensive (though maybe it's cheaper in the US?).
