You act like polices are some sort alien species. Every flaws that the polices have are human flaws. If the population is flawed, the polices are flaws. The discrimination that polices done to black people. Are the same discriminations that already exist within the population.
How am I doing that? I'm not saying only police are racist or discriminate.

The discrimination done by the greater population isn't state-sanctioned and doesn't result in mass incarceration.

Truly remarkable that people who claim they aren't racist see nothing wrong with this. Or when cops are violent even towards white people.
This is why BLM is a terrible branding. They should have focus on Anti Police Brutality. Heck, one of the things that impact my life the most was October of 2010, a string of gay teens commit suicide one after another. That let to the foundation of Spirit day and It got Better Project. But even then I thought anti gay bullying may not been effective. Anti Bullying branding would been effective. If you deal with anti bullying, then you automatically have to deal with anti gay bullying. You need to build broad coalition. But the people who push for BLM also push for some sort of wealth distribution to black community. Which is FINE on its own. But when you muddle up the message, less people come aboard.

I said a different brand will take care of it, then you said are they run by former polices. So your talking point is polices policing polices. We ALL KNOW IT DOESN"T WORK. You don't need to repeat it to me. Have some imagination. That why I mentioned CIA/FBI/DOJ. Heck even Attorney General may not even have cop training, you think Kamala Harris was a cop before she got that job? She was a lawyer. And that position is an elected position. If you don't like their views, then don't elect them. Elect someone who said they want to reform. Kamala Harris for example pushed body cam hardcore, create a database of police wrong doings. You are so blind by your dogma that you didn't see all the incremental changes of real people actually put in the hard work. You can chant defunding the police all you want. But how are you gonna get that pass? Hold a gun to the voters? That slogan already politically toxic.

Even liberal NEW YORK CITY, that didn't work. In the NYC Democrat primary, they elected a former cop over those defunding the police type despite George Floyd just happen. Do you know why? Because people scare of crime that rising all over NYC than that of cops. Unless, you somehow gaslight them into thinking one is way way way way lesser of a problem than the other.

If global warming to happen, Russia would have more farmable land.

Russian food production increased annually post economic sanctions.

Initially they relied on food exports from china.

Every year they have become more self reliant and less dependent on foreign imports.

As someone interested in growing plants, there is a russian technique for adapting trees and plant life to cold weather that is interesting. They plant in the south. Every year they collect seeds and plant further to the north. Over time they end up with a strain of plant life that is better adapted to cold weather.

Another innovative technique they developed is placing plants in deep trenches to keep them warm during winter.

AFAIK russians invented and pioneered these techniques for producing greater yields in cold weather.

They don't need global warming to attain food independence, I don't think. They already have a good knowledge base for farming in their zone.

All I am saying each countries don't face the same threat with global warming. Where I from before the USA. Most of that land will be under water. While Russia will get more benefits than negatives. Same with everything, from environmental issue to police reform. It affects people very differently.

Blinded by what dogma? :oh

Idk, I don't want to seem dismissive because I don't think you lack a grasp on the topic, but "vote vote vote" is every bit as naive as "defund the police" when it comes to actually reforming the system so it's as equitable as possible. But I guess I'm being a doomer about it, so I digress.

Maybe, you don't understand what I said. Local elections matter far more than statewide and definitely more than federal election. Take police funding issue. You can defund certain police in certain district. If you focus on the local budgeting level. This whole chanting from a federal level will get NOTHING DONE.

Voting for Trump or Biden may do nothing in term of police. And yet voting for your State Attorney General, or hell is you qualified RUN for the position of AG, that impact your issue way more.

It should've been called All Lives Matter.
No, that's dumb.
Its clear some of you don't pay attention to pubic opinion.

Everytime BLM came up in news cycles.

There were thousands of people who corrected the BLM title with "all lives matter" comments.

Errors in police judgement affect everyone, not only blacks.

Suggesting that only blacks are affected is the type of misinformed movement most can't get behind.

...

Legitimate movements to reform police policy condemned actual causes of racial profiling like ticket and arrest quotas.

BLM never acknowledged even the most basic of issues.
It's mostly racists and idiots who did that, it was mainly another way to say, "we don't care about Black people" or "we're okay with letting Black people be killed by cops!" but they didn't want to get in trouble for saying that outright. People who were aware of social issues had no problem with BLM.

The "errors" affect Black people the most, as a higher percentage of them are killed or beaten up. No Black person or BLM supporter has ever said police brutality only affected Black people. if you actually did your research, you'd see BLM acknowledged the most basic of issues to complex issues.

This is why BLM is a terrible branding. They should have focus on Anti Police Brutality. Heck, one of the things that impact my life the most was October of 2010, a string of gay teens commit suicide one after another. That let to the foundation of Spirit day and It got Better Project. That's... what they did... by saying Black lives matter too, and police should not be using violence/excessive brutality against Black people. Anti-bullying branding is not effective if you want to oppose bullying LGBT+ kids because it's not specific enough. It doesn't say, "guys, stop bullying gay kids!" The message wasn't muddled at all.

As far as climate change and rising sea levels go.

The Obamas and Trumps are buying up beachfront property.

Hilarious.

Local elections are more often controlled by conservatives who redistrict and close polling places as needed to maintain a stranglehold on municipal and state governments. Do you think they're interested in these kinds of reforms?

Nope, all i noticed following George Floyd is people on the media yelling back and forth whether All Lives Matter or Black Lives matter. Once the debate derail to that BLM lost. If they went with Anti Police Brutality, what do you think the opposition would say? Pro Police Brutality?

2010, was before gay marriage. Before Don't Ask, don't tell even getting repealed. The amount of kids commit suicide was astounding. My heart hurt almost everyday. It was urgency. The thing about gay bullying is this. Some of the victims may not even be LGBT. Majority of them are. But a few got labeled as gay and got bullied. I knew at least one case that was like it during that time. I got bullied as a kid, and I am gay. But I wasn't being gay bullied because I got pass as straight really. I got bullied because I always the new kid since I changed school every 2 years or so. Usually bully stop within one semester when people got to know me. So in two instance, one non gay kid got bullying because others thought he was gay. And I a gay kid, who got bully but wasn't over my sexuality. And gay issue was very very controversial. To the point I afraid to read any yahoo news cover the topic. Because of the homophobic things in the comment section. If you paint it as a anti gay bullying, it automatically became controversial. But Anti Bullying, which parents are okay other people laying hands on their kids. This is just framing, and practical. Political messages have to be carefully crafted depend on the time.

Whether BLM is effective or not, is on how legislation played out in this 5 to 10 years. And the way I see it, it already failed. Especially when the ACAB people got involved, the All Cops are Bastards crowd. But the Ulvade school shooting and the police response maybe even more impactful to defunding the police than all the ACAB chant for the last 2 years combined.

Depend on when you ask, post George Floyd. Yeah. Now, is no. The window for change is closed. Once the whole ACAB thing got started, and both sides got cemented down. No changes can take place. Immediately post George Floyd, even Fox News are attacking those police officers. And also framing. If you framing like body camera as a thing that protect the cops against wrongful charges for example. And although that is true, but it is more impactful in term of getting bad cops accountable. USA politics is just too complicated. And this country as the day go by, even I am question what is the right thing and what is the right solution. The people are so divided at this point base on comments I am reading, to come together as a country.

Hell, depend on which case, you choose to focus your political energy in. You can bring people together. For example. Ahmaud Arbery case, majority of Americans are on one's side. I am shocked to go to Fox News, and even Breitbart, and reading the comments siding with Arbery's family. But case like Kyle Rittenhouse, is much more polarized. Both trials were running at the same time. I am even surprise why BLM wasted their valuable political capital on chiming into Kyle Rittenhouse. A case of white people on white people violence. Arbery case had way less coverage in comparison.

No, they'd say it's not police brutality or would try to defend it in whatever way. BLM was talking about police brutality, which was being ignored. We live in a world that's still racist, people wouldn't have listened either way.

It's not practical, it's unhelpful. All you're doing is saying firefighters should spray water on all houses instead of just the one that's on fire. Doesn't make any sense.

Nope, it won't be enough. Right now, nothing is enough to get hte police defunded, other than them working actively against conservatives.

The issue with this assessment is implying that things like ACAB and "Defund the Police" prevented reform. They were just used as excuses and without those things others would take their place. To suggest otherwise is too close to victim-blaming for my tastes.

It was always puzzingly to me that there are Bush-Obama-Sanders-Trump voters. But there are. People are easily swayed at time. Like Joe Rogan, he agree with every single radical different view points with each of his guest. He got Sanders on, and he agree with the left wing. And then he got a right wing on, and he agree with the right wing. Or whoever, he last talk to.

There was a perfect storm of momentum that the majority of the USA could have come together. And unfortunately BLM blew it. BLM gave their political opponents too many amo against them. With the branding. And then all these worthless ACAB people come in. And I meant worthless. I don't blame Tucker Carlson for being Tucker Carlson like I don't blame a scorpion for being a scorpion. But people who impede their own movement stupidly, yeah, I have a problem with that. But the true problems were the months and months and months long riots and lootings. You can excuse the first few. But it got way too much. Heck, if Biden were to lose the election. It would have been over this. I already said the target of many of these riots and lootings were other minorities, and lowest of the lowest of society. These folks force people that can make a change to have a stance over this that can be politically damaging. That is downplayed and or excusing it. Even now, it sept into everything like toxic. Jan 6th? I saw a comment today saying but but but those racial riots are worst.

Sure, maybe bigot gonna be bigot and they have something else as an excuse. But I do believe a lot of the middle of America got really turned off by it. And you need people to be swayed to your side. Unless you are Malcolm X and be a racial isolationist or something.

Sure, I guess that your conclusion. You should give up. The world is racist. You can never achieve your objective.

By the way, this is why "Build the Wall" work and "Defunding the Police" doesn't work. Build the wall is simple. Where as defunding the police. You need 20 page essay explain what you actually meant by it, how it work, blah blah.

I originally dislike Stacey Abrams but I grew to absolutely love her. In one interview, she gave a speech something about she cannot afford these go big or go burst kinda thing and living in a conservative state, if she doesn't believe in incremental change that she would just be depress and gave up.

And funny enough it was Abrams and "voting." That actually matter.

Discussing with you guys are weird. You don't believe in voting. So how are you getting this change that you spouting. Or is this all just internet venting to make yourself feel better. More so with xi0.

Guess what I will vote against Defunding the police. Defunding the police will not suit my interest. I have seen my family member getting assaulted. I don't trust the police. But I also don't trust criminals. If you cannot even swayed me. Who by the way, at this point in time. I can type out your post. I can type out your arguments for you. I can make an M3J post just as good as M3J write his own post. Then you definitely can't sway people to the right of me. I can budge into less funding for the police. But nah on the defunding.

Even defunding the police, a year ago. If you ask 3 twitter users who pro defunding the police. And explain what they meant. They would give 3 drastically different answers.

The point is this. The slogan is on the provocative side of things. Which can be good and catchy and inspire convo. I as a person who followed politics, listened for variety of people on the topic who differed from each others. But a lay person hearing that. How much time to you think an average voter will look up these things. First impression also everything, if it doesn't sound right to them before the deep dive. It already slightly lost the battle. And even among the people who buy it, their understanding is different from each others.

It is good to keep a perspective or else you may fell for your own propaganda. Both sides tend to have these phrases of the "American people" "middle of America" "silent majority" "rational hard working Americans" are with me. Pick whatever topic, and they think their issue is in the majority. Let's take abortion, progressive think most Americans are pro choice. That is true, but to a certain extend. Never fall for the illusion of Americans are for whole sale abortion no matter what. This applied to universal health care too. Changing the wording a bit in poll, yield very different results.

My mom is pro choice. But as I talk to her, I realize she is not for late term abortion. Values are very different from individuals to individuals. And messages matter a lot. I hate when progressive sink their own argument with provocative terms like just a "lump of cells." Life are not all equal. A homeowner who choose to shoot a home intruder put their family life over some rando who willing to destroyed the basic of societal contract. To some mother that lump of cells is a baby. Heck, even the liberal person who is pro choice and decide to keep their baby, at whatever months they don't treat that pregnancy as just lump of cells. If there is a murder of a pregnant woman, some states treated as a double homicide.

Rhetoric matters a lot. Hence people like Tucker Carlson who able to package some pretty terrible old ideas into more tolerable form is extremely dangerous and effective.

Over the year I see these things done a lot. On the democrat's side, "trickle down economic" or on the right about "death panel" associate with Obama care. Or recently in Virginia, how conservatives turning teaching about lgbt/race into "parent right" and fight against "grooming." And it was effective since a Republican won a governorship in a trending blue state Virginia. I do think a few (not all) of their concerns about school were valid.

Branding, rhetoric, and how you control the narrative is important beyond just policies. And even with the policy, I don't agree with it. I don't mind black Americans advocate for what best for their community. But I also have my own community in mind when I vote.

No disagreement from me here, i think the communication of "defund the police" backfired a lot. But I think the thought behind it is sound if communicated right.
My problem here is that vilification of police (no matter how justified) is inevitably going to make it a strongly partisan thing. It would probably have been easier to start reforming police approaches if you put psychologically ill and homeless people front and center to communicate the idea that in many situations, the police is illequipped to cease a conflict while other services are better equipped to do that.

Okay so let talk about the meat of it which is the policy. The whole mental health profession dealing with people with mental health problem sound rational. And I were buying it at first. But here is something to consider.

"Background: One corporation with four psychiatric inpatient facilities experienced an average RN turnover rate of 54% annually, with approximately 75% of new hires leaving within 6 months of employment."

In one of the post here talking about I am blaming the victims with the ACAB thing. Let's take Portland for example during the racial unrest, most of the people participating were white. They were not solely care for just black rights. They were pushing other far left things as well, and create a Autonomous zone in Portland. The funny thing is the absence of police, they create something similar to police. This is like when libertarians and anarchist when press on larger issue that not a single house hold or even a small group of people can deal with. Slowly and slowly, they came up with these central governing body that all but in name, our already existing government institutions. Then there were unrest and shooting at the autonomous zone, and ambulance arrived at the scene. But they don't come in, they won't come in without the police presence. The polices were order to stand down to de escalate things.

So let said, you called for wellness check for your family members, and these mental health professional came at the door but won't allow in. What legal power do they have to break down the door? And with the high percentage of gun ownership in America. If someone with a mental health episode with gun, how safe can that be?

So now, we go to the link above. Mental health nurses are in SHORT SUPPLY. If college are all free, how many will go for this profession? Knowing the job quality is terrible. Risking assaults and injuries to your own body? No need for polls or study, The people that already in these nursing, fled at high percentage. This is why I like conditional free higher education, to push people toward fields and careers that society needed.

And the people who had these jobs in the first place, may desperate for works. Probably less privilege than others because if anyone who had options of a better choice, not many will go for a lesser options. Why are we let these nurses bare the burden of physical assaults for the rest of society. We can raise their wages, but at some point, it is too not enough of an incentive. And the lowest among us would even go for it anyway if they doing for the money at the risk of their health. I mentioned this, because of "funding to mental health."

EDIT: Mental health professionals themselves are also in very short supplies to be stretch even thinner.

Oh man, I can rant a lot more about homeless situation and the complication of it.
Other countries have mental health problems too, but why is it in America it is so so so bad? Certainly even with the mental health things cannot explain all these people who do these properties damage.

@Sanity Check what's your opinion on this one? Is this just a figment of our imaginations too?

There was a perfect storm of momentum that the majority of the USA could have come together. And unfortunately BLM blew it. BLM gave their political opponents too many amo against them. With the branding. And then all these worthless ACAB people come in. And I meant worthless. I don't blame Tucker Carlson for being Tucker Carlson like I don't blame a scorpion for being a scorpion.
Like I said before, it's an excuse to take focus and outrage off of people being killed. You can blame whoever you want, someone being angry and screaming ACAB is not the same as those in power looking for any excuse to protect their position and further squash the downtrodden. A pearl-clutching, Blue Lives Matter type would rather cry over what a random person says on twitter and use that as an excuse to distract from real criticism, so their reactions would never be a barometer for me for what is acceptable or not. Inflammatory language or rhetoric is not even in the same universe as what the police get away with on a daily basis.

So then you hold him to a different standard then? Why exactly is that?

So we had a trade war with China that was no benefit to us. Do I blamed President Xi of China for out playing us and for the Chinese team? Or do I blamed Trump for being a buffon? I blamed Trump. Does this answer your question. Tucker Carlson is not on my team. For a while, Bernie bros like to cited Tucker's new anti-corporation populist talking points. And David Parkman correctly point out that agreeing with the problems is meaningless unless we agree with the solutions. I was closer to BLM in term of police reforms but as time passed, I also realize I am not on BLM team either. So to applied my logic evenly. I guess I gonna stop blaming BLM too.

I like go on to Fox and Breitbart to read their conservative comments. And I honestly hate libertarians more than conservatives from time to time.

I’m a libertarian so, no problem with Pride Month. I’m also for free speech though as well. This arrest doesn’t sit well. A riot isn’t a riot…until it’s a riot, right? I mean it requires violence and property destruction. Last time I checked 30 guys riding in the back of a Uhaul wasn’t a crime. Where was this type of proactive policing with the BLM riots of 2020? Cities were left to burn. How does Antifa always manage to show up and bludgeon people with no consequences?

Conspiracy isn't a crime to libertarians. Just like one of their major platforms usually being lowering or abolishing age of consent laws.

To be fair though, most libertarians are conservatives though...
