No mention of Loving v Virginia though... I wonder why that is?

Maybe because it protects the legality of his marriage to his psycho wife who's white... How weird... :hmm

Just a friendly reminder -

None of these useless fucks at the top are of any use to anyone. They care more about their spouses stock portfolio and siphoning off more campaign donations.
Give it time. When trump wins the presidency back and clarence retires trump will appoint a white conservative judge who will finally address the racial purity situation in the US.

Useless (unless it involves killing middle easterners with drones of course!)

I always did wonder how much human rights cost. Glad they got it figured out over there.

Literally doomed
Also the twit is a lie. A stupid lie at that. Roe V wade is gone. Nothing relating to it is in the ballot. Voting won't solve this. Fixing roe v wade will require either another landmark case to make it past the supreme court, overturning the overturning of wade (which as far as I can tell would make this awful lawmaking even worst) or an amendment. Any of which will take decades.

So texas republicans went all "homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle", pretty much figuratively threw the rest of the alphabet folk under a bus (which I would think they wish was more literal than figurative) and outright made it part of their platform that biden's presidency is not legitimate. Being a democrat in texas nowadays must be scary.
I've lived in Texas for a good portion of my life, and I have to say it's becoming a dystopian society. I wouldn't call it scary to be a Democrat here. You can hide your politics; You can't hide your race, or in many cases orientation and gender identity (OK you could hide those, but you'd probably be unhappy?)

TX is politically... interesting. The hispanic population are definitely blue for the most part, but very socially conservative. Austin, the capital, is incredibly liberal. The suburbs are pretty mixed. I'd say where I am is probably 50/50 politically, but a good portion of the left side can't vote (not citizens), so we have pretty conservative county and city politics. If you step another twenty minutes out you start seeing Confederate Flags, and Trump 2020 signs. If you head out to Llano, TX (great bbq) you will find a whole corner store dedicated to Trump Memorabilia.

I'd honestly say as late as 2014 or so that the politics here weren't nearly as crazy. Wendy Davis filibustering for 13 hours or whatever was huge news. I think that once Trump took office, though, we started seeing that alt part of the alt right come out of people who we thought were right-center. Hell, in Austin we occasionally find Nazi's protesting... something.. over near the Synagogue.

Uvalde is honestly the final straw for me. My wife and I are either moving to Canada, or Japan. I'm so over the political climate here. There is nowhere else where random ass 18 year olds go shoot up schools. It just doesn't happen. Just in the USA. Every time it happens the gun lobby immediately jumps to the defense and suggesting we arm teachers. Teachers in Austin don't even make enough to live in Austin, and asking them to purchase, and carry guns to class? The fucking lunacy. Distributing guns to a bunch of untrained users who probably don't want to be carrying them. Not only that. Imagine the scenario where a gun is left in a purse or bag, and the teacher runs to the restroom. It isn't something that might happen. It WOULD happen.

Police in this country want to be worshiped, but they also want to provide zero value to society. They want their knob polished by everyone, acting like they are constantly risking their life for you despite the fact that you're more likely to die on the job as a "Grounds maintenance worker" in a public park. Imagine if firefighters got to the building that was engulfed in flames, and decided they needed to wait for the flames to naturally work themselves out before going in to rescue anyone.. that's the equivalent of what the Uvalde PD did. Then we have the "chief" of that incident now as a city council member. I don't know how the hell we find such fucking idiots to do these jobs but we manage to.

Voting won't solve this, but voting will make it so that the state can or can't ban abortion. It's literally up to the state to decide what it wants to do, Sadly, it means pro-choice supporters will have to vote and ensure states go or remain blue, which will be hard given how dirty and underhanded republican politicians and voters are, from gerrymandering to election fraud.

Welp, states could go on to make abortion legal tomorrow if they wanted to. But that's a different thing from abortion being a right recognized by US law and government. That much at least is probably decades away. Besides, do you think republicans are done with this? Republicans see abortion in at least most, and in some cases all, of its forms. Republican states are already making moves to criminalize abortion in states they control but there's no way this ends here. A republican controlled congress and senate could make abortion illegal across the land (state rights aren't meant for this of course). And obviously with the current scotus you could even go further and make it straight up unconstitutional. And this isn't even decades away. If i had to guess I would say the ideal time for such a thing would be with the next republican president so that democrats don't immediately respond court packing.

Racial purity is inbreeding.

Who wants to be more inbred?

Not me.

:toc
Glad you are comfortable with your current amount of inbreeding I suppose.

Past genetic studies claim those who identified as 100% black.

Are in reality only around 70% black.

The genetic diversity of humans is vast enough for no one alive today to qualify as "pure bred".

Racial purity is a misguided cause for those who fail to comprehend basic science.

The mere concept of it is flawed on a fundamental level.

I agree.

I am mostly sure the republican perspective here would be that it's the police's job to eventually shot these folk.

Aren't anti-abortion republicans usually exposed supporting abortion for their mistresses? Hell, back when Hollywood was heavily conservative and run by conservatives, actresses were getting abortions left and right.

That'd be blue states, while most, if not all, red states would try to make it illegal. I'm not sure if they can reverse that in the future though.

You're right, and republicans have already said they're going to go further than that, like banning contraceptives and whatnot. Clarence Thomas made that clear, if I recall correctly, and it's why this is dangerous. And the problem is that majority of the Dem politicians don't seem to care, with Pelosi actually sending emails saying they need more money to fight anti-abortion bills.

This is a pretty eye-opening thread, especially when it comes to late-term abortion and who it's really for... I encourage anyone Pro-Life to read it. @Shobu_Yoruichi you too

So how do we feel about putting pop-up abortion clinics on federal land?

I automatically thought of expanding the court and meant that because what's to stop the reps from countering with another expansion to put in more conservative judges? Or find a way to get the liberal judges replaced?

The court needs reform anyway IMO. Having less jurists and them having lifetime appointments is fucking stupid.
