The goal of any education system is not to provide education to the masses lol where would we be if that were the case?

The goal is to reproduce society, keeping those in power in power. And these people know that very well, they just don't tell you.

This is also the problem of the left as many of them are dicks that look down on the uneducated and are also just as unwilling to give up their privileges.
The initial goal of mas education in the west was to have workers who could perform more than just basic tasks and also to have these certified so they'd be ready tobe used in factories and other workplaces.
And that was fine back then, it was a good move everybody profited from. The problem is that we live in another kind of world today.

We need people to be able to do more than memorize and repeat things. That kind of education was useful if you were exspected to choose from a dozen of basic paths for your work career, it does not cut it in a world where everybody is supposed to be creative, proactive and flexible and changes work a lot.

There are education systems handling this much better than others. The US system is pretty abysmal. And a there is also a lot of diversity in european systems, with finland being pretty stellar.
Cynicism does not cut it here in my opinion. We need to talk about the flaws of the education system openly and let a lot of paradigms fall. There are first world free market having countries with a better education system than others and we should strive to follow their path.

First time a Democrat will represent Alaska in the House in 50 years.

Guess that's more of an indictment on Palin than anything else
I don't know, its not like i believe in a blue wave in midterms, but democrats DO win more often lately than they were expected to. At least I am cautiously optimitic that its not going to be the massacre many expected it to be.

And a testament to rank choice voting!

We need it everywhere.

The situation for russia is looking more dire by the day now. It is not completely clear how successful the Ukrainian offensive is, but some successes are already visible.
I am note sure whether they can completely liberate Kherson, but it looks increasingly likely that russia will only be able to hold Kherson if they put all oftheir weight just there with heavy losses.

If they actually lose it, in my opinion, that is when thir choices boil down to either negotiating their (partial) withdrawal or starting an outright war that puts actual ethnical russians on the battlefield (really risky).

A vegas politician was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death Jeff German, a journalist who wrote unflattering articles and stories about him.

Craziest thing I've seen in awhile.

I am surprised that this late in the 21th century there's still people who think aids is a gay thing.

People are saying the supreme court overturning Roe vs Wade.

Was meant to generate negative publicity to sabotage a red wave in the coming elections.

I love it when people are smarter than we give them credit for being.

So that means the afflicted people have to go to Canada to get the medicine? :\

It becomes an out of pocket paid expense that is no longer standard covered by health insurance.

The same as mammograms and whatever other features were removed from standard healthcare plans within the last 15 years.

Peak 2022.
Its not real. It never happened, it is a fake picture from a fake account (not buzzfeed).
You ought to be less gullible with what you get from twitter.

Peak 2022.

Being real or not in no way diminishes.

It really kinda does. I think 2022 was defined by very real, very serious conflicts like the Ukraine war, Climate catastrophe, world hunger and fascist power grabs in america (and other parts of the world) and should not be identified by some outright fabrication from a small twitter account.

Peak 2022.

Is an ironic comment.

So then the 6 justices that supported it being overturned don't actually believe in what they're doing and the half of them that were selected by Trump himself want to sabotage him running again. And the state and municipal governments who were already doing whatever they could to limit abortion access even before Roe v Wade being overturned are all full of shit too.

Makes total sense. How "smart".

What about DeSantis busing illegal immigrants to blue states.

Won't that make it easier for democrat voters to blame republicans for our immigration crisis.

Who was it that supported open borders anyway.

Welp, looks like the russian offensive is... just about done? Reading multiple articles suggest that russia probably can't recover from this but the conflict is still a fair bit away from ending. On the other hand there's the political situation in russia... Which is very heated against putin. It kinda seems like people there aren't buying into the war anymore? Hopefully putin being out of power comes sooner rather than earlier, that seems like the quickest way to end the conflict sooner. That said, with the loses russia has had it's almost weird to think the conflict keeps going if ukraine maintains its momentum even one more week...

My assessment:

-Ukraine did not quite win the war yet, but it is emboldened by this. Their new demands for peace are now "russian withdrawal from ALL of Ukraine (including Crimea), Nato Membership, Eu Membership, Russia pays reparations. Russia could have had a peacedeal without reparations, borders of 2014 and no nato membership a few months back.

-UA needs to rest right now after the offensive. They are back to using himars, airstrikes and sabotage to slowly erode the russian front more. If they can prevent Russia from regrouping, they can keep marching. If not and russians dig in, the war will go stale in a few months over the winter.

-There is no real heat against Putin yet. Putin uses his Military as scapegoat. It is true that the russian public is in turmoil, but not because they question the war itself. They question why they are not winning. Russian far right starts to demand a full mobilization or more violent attacks in Ukrainian civilians (going as far as to demand nukes or new fronts). That is VERY dangerous, as this is a ghost Putin cannot control very well.
Putin might very well lose power completely, but so far, Russians do not want him gone.

-The west does not want Putin to go, at least not in a chaotic manner. They fear RUssia might break apart and would rather force putin to withdraw with some dignity left intact than for Ukraine to throw him out quickly.

-The wars in Armenia and KYrgyzistan would potentially offer Putin the option to withdraw (moving forces from Ukraine to Armenia, telling his people he needed to do it to protect the brotherstate). But i don't think he will do it, However, at least the Armenia conflict is a very tricky one.
The EU just started getting Gas from Azerbaidschan that it really needs, but AZ is doing pretty much the same in Armenia as Russia does in Ukraine, so they have to react. US does not have these problems and sent Pelosi there, but EU really is in quite a bad situation with that.
Russia itself starts to lose even more Power as it is visible that Russia cannot guarantee Aremnia's safety. CSTO is in free fall and in my opinion, it will likely break apart (there are rumors about Kazhak withdrawal)

Welp, looks like the russian offensive is... just about done?

It might be due to HIMARs, etc.

Russia didn't commit all of its forces to the invasion though. Their aircraft were notably absent.

The ukraine invasion is being waged on a shoestring budget.

One source claims russians invaded ukraine despite lacking radio encryption. Crazy if true.

On the other hand there's the political situation in russia... Which is very heated against putin.

Putin has an 80% approval rating in russia?
